Curious Question: Why do dogs have to be chained while cats get to run free...???

Badly trained or ill used dogs will attack without provocation, (so will cats...except with cats training has nothing to do with it). All my life we've kept medium/large dogs and never had a problem with attacking except in 2 instances, and it was another dog that was attacked in both cases, not people.

Dogs are pack animals. What this means when they are left to their own devices, is, they will gang up. Good luck if you ever run into a pack of dogs running free. Even domesticated dogs traveling in an unsupervised pack could cause a lot of damage to you, both physically and psychologically, if you survive, that is. Ever heard of such a thing happening with cats? Me neither.

I think that depends on the dogs. There's one man in the park with 5 cute small doggies, when they get tired they go sit in a buggy. They walk free and my kids love to pet them. If the owner walked away I wouldn't worry.

Ever heard of this guy? sure, dogs are pack animals, and sure, untrained ones can cause a TON of damage, but well trained, they can do stuff like this. (Even though this guy in the video is kinda over the top).

Yeah, but the difference is if you have a 90 lb. German Shepherd, (which is as big as they generally get), and a 90 lb. cougar (which is on the small side), the cat is way more lethal.

And actually the animal that causes the most deaths in the U.S. is neither dog nor cat, but astoundingly bees/wasps!

I didn't know the question was about pet cougars. That certainly puts a different spin on it ;)

Don't they eat dogs in some parts of the world.
Best keep them safe inside your house ... just in
case the neighbour wants a snack ;)

i didnt say i dont like dogs, I said that dogs by nature are more aggressive animals and that is why we have leash laws. This protects the city from lawsuits when a vicious dog attacks someone

Those also are jokes. I appreciate the history lesson though and will remember, should I ever visit Holland, to not order rabbit if I see it on a menu. That last statement also was a joke.

beside the danger to humans, cats don't go around killing other peoples pets or chewing up and spreading the neighbors garbage all over four yards.

i wouldn't be surprised if when you all look it up, your cities actually have leash laws for cats too though. they're just rarely enforced, and my guess is the only reason they are on the books is disgruntled dog owners angrily voicing complaints at city council meetings. the last two cities i've lived in had such laws. i live in the county now though.

dogs on the loose are dangerous. cats, not so much. it bugs me when i see dogs with collars roaming around my neighborhood - especially since i have cats, and there are feral cats roaming around here too. it makes me think their owners are irresponsible.
