THIS IS GANNA BE A COOL FORUM ABOUT WAR AGAINST SIN AND IF YOUR NOT FIGHTING THEN YOUR LOSING

In a way, the whole of Christianity is a war against sin, so spreading the Word seems to me to be the best way of fighting sin.

Hahaha! When I saw this forum topic - I thought of a song I think you should check out. It's SOOOOOOOOOOOO true. Check it:

So, are there any advantages to fighting a spiritual war per say?

I don't know, the military industrial complex doesn't really profit from spiritual warfare.

Lots of money in holy wars, though!

i take it you mean 'holy', cos most of these types of wars either come from a twisted version of religion, or they have just used religion as an excuse to make people support it, cos basically all religions say be peaceful and nice to ur neighbour.

yer but when u read the books to these religions they like to condredict them selves

ok, take the Bible. Peace to thy neighbour, etc, and yet God's word was being used as an excuse for the Crusades, where thousands of people died.

well the bible does say to stone certain people aswell and you have like a guide to slavery yes that was in the old testament but does it say in the new testament you cant do these things?

I'd have to disagree. The Bible is big on warfare. A lot of the Old Testament is about the Israelites carrying out God's instructions to wage ruthless, bloody wars against other civilisations; razing cities, massacring the civiian population etc., as per the practices of the time period in question.

Warfare is a big topic in the Bible. It's not all "love your neighbour"... Sometimes it's more like "Invade your neighbour's country, burn their towns and leave nothing alive."

So unless there's been a complete about-face in policy here (which I don't think there has been - doesn't the New Testament say there is a time for warfare?), I wouldn't paint such a pretty picture of the matter.

Sometimes I find the Bible to be a little atrocious and contradictory.

Isn't it about the context of the actual time period? for instance, in the times of 1938-1939 it was more like invade thy nieghbour, but nowadays it's more like; stop terrorism from invading thy nieghbours country, see my point?

There's still plenty of "invade thy neighbour" in the post-war period. They simply dress it up now with words like "liberty" and "freedom" to an even greater extent than before, because people have finally realised that on a personal level, war isn't usually a good thing (though it's often beneficial for national/economic/political reasons).

This "terrorism" thing is slightly different, but it is still fundamentally the same; a clash of interests over power, dominance, resources etc. leading to conflict.

I don't think they carry out terrorist attacks because they're "crazy religious nuts" as some would say. It's their way of fighting a war that, if fought with conventional methods, they would lose very quickly.

As for the actual topic, I was simply stating that religious/holy texts are not all peace, love and flowers.

Besides, it's not like this has anything to do with the original topic of the thread... :P
