I got a 250 honda rebel to start out on. Its a really lightweight cruiser. Beginner bike. I am definitely upgrading because I already want more power, but I am going to wait until I master everything on this one. We have horrible drivers here where I live too. You can do everything right, and someone else do something stupid and take you down hard. Sometimes people will even swerve to hit you on purpose! It is shocking and hasn't happened to me but it is somewhat common unfortunately. That is just something you have to accept if you are going to get on one. Its a matter of if the fun outweighs the fear for you.

You just have to watch everybody and drive like you are invisible. Always get your skills up and if someone lane changes on you and is coming into your lane and is about to sideswipe you, just lay on the throttle and get out of the way. Thats part of the fun
 
The main problem with other drivers is they just don't see you, because in their subconscious they are only looking for cars. Wearing bright colors helps a ton and keeping your headlight(s) on during the day makes you harder to miss. Also its a good idea to stay off-center in the lane during stop and go situations so that if the person behind you brakes late, you don't end up under the bike or the car. I'd also let off the gas when approaching an intersection where traffic can turn left in case you have to stop or swerve. City and dense neighborhood roads involve riding the clutch a lot.

yea, you have to watch everyone five times as much compared to being in a car. Driving a car is like checkers but driving a bike is like chess.

lol But nothing special, just a basketball game. I was just bored prior, was gettin' annoyed by the dumbest of things...which could also be a post for the "what annoys/irritates you" thread haha

(Yeah, so I have a thing for voices... and yes, I used to stalk chat in order to listen to a handful of participants who used to appear frequently on the mic... and you definitely have the type of voice that's addictive to listen to...) :)
