So pretty much celebrity Tim Allen says Kasich could attract the poor and the disenfranchised to a resurgent Republican coalition, perhaps even capable of swaying Democrats away from Hillary. Sounds like even more the reason why he is from a kingly standpoint the best choice to nominate to be our Steward of Gondor. Plus the pragmatic and solid record of prosperity when he takes office.
 
I'm still supporting Ben Carson. I'd like him to win the nomination and have Rick Santorum or Carly Fiorina as his VP. If he won, he could appoint Marco Rubio as Secretary of Defense. Mike Huckabee as Secretary of State. Chris Christie could run Homeland Security or the Justice Department.

I did say in my first post on the thread I'd watch all the debates. Figure it saves forum room instead of spamming GOPolitical topics in the news section. Also it is very interesting going back and reading this internet political novel after each joust. Hope you don't mind my political nerdom lol, but I like our exchange of splicing it with pop cultural contemporary US nerdom.

Lol not a Trekkie though to be frank, never liked Star Trek at all. Star Wars was great, but eh, so cliché of a meme. How about some King Arthur? Lol it's all easy no worries and hope well for you. The colorful analogies are just a little more fun than saying the obvious that it's a bunch of old rich men huffing and puffing.

On the upside, it proves that the Democrats are alienating some of their old Rust Belt support.

With the right candidate on one side and the wrong candidate on the other, even Pennsylvania could be in play.

Not saying that right candidate is John Kasich. I don't want to win the rust belt only to lose the Bible Belt. We can, however get a candidate with cross-over appeal. Ideally, one that attracts the rust belt with non-progressive populist appeal and the south with an appeal to conservatives.

From reading/watching the highlights-

Winners: The Republican Ticket

Losers: John Harwood, CNBC, and the Left

I stand by my previous prediction- the dynamic of the primaries will not be influenced by the debate.

Strangely enough, in making the entire ticket look stronger, it may have benefitted the general election. The conservative base and more moderate sections of the GOP may be less likely to stay home on election day if they remember Cruz slugging back, Rubio defending his tax plan, and Trump fighting the comic book comment with civility and strength.

To Independents and Democrats, they look like they are boldly offering an array of alternatives to progressivism. In that, I couldn't have asked for a better performance.

Well done, Lady and Gentlemen. Keep fighting the good fight.

Okay, I just caught wind of the whole Jeb/Marco showdown.

I want to know what moron told Jeb Bush "Yeah, pull off a contrived attack against Marco Rubio."

This is horrifyingly awful, but completely emblematic of his entire campaign. It was a typical, flaccid establishment piece of mush from the get-go. Bush and his people approached it with a sense of millennial-level entitlement- they had the name and the money, all they needed after that, they reasoned, was a nice, my-little-pony style strategy that brings everyone in and leaves nobody out.

Well guess what? It doesn't work that way when you have other legitimate opponents working against you, wooing once-loyal donors away. In an electoral climate like this, you cannot win a primary with Romney's "I believe in an America where we can all be Americans in an American way." No, your campaign actually has to stand for something more than that. Your candidate cannot afford to be all-inclusive when your opponents actually believe in something.

The sad part is, it was all a lie. Jeb Bush is tough and fairly conservative. I can tell you he is not weak, but he was coached to appear as such. They had time to right the ship when Trump blasted in to at least maintain Rubio levels of viability, but they did not. His campaign failed him and, by hiring them and keeping them onboard, he failed himself.

Want to know why Republicans failed to evict Obama in 2012? Want to know why we have an Iran Deal? Want to know why unemployment is still in the doldrums? Want to know why Russia and China are challenging the Anglophonic world? Want to know why we have widespread civil disorder supported by the government? Want to know why congress is weak beyond all belief?

Take a good look at the Republicans who have challenged rectitude of conservatives and middle-class voters nationwide. Take a good look at the inside-the-beltway pundits that gave them ideological ammo. Their sloth, unprofessionalism, and total lack of imagination force are part of the reason why we face what we face as a nation.

But not this cycle. Rather than get beaten by Democrats, they are getting beaten by their "own" first. The clumsy moves that didn't work against Barack Obama have failed them in this race.

And the battle-hardened victors? They will have the privilege of facing off against a Democratic party that hasn't known a good fight much less a good victory in few years save the policy victories of Barack Obama.

My conservative friends, good policy does indeed make good campaigning this cycle. So I leave you with two words: take heart.

That's the bonus with Kasich. He is Christian. A real one, not by name only.
 
A fun debate indeed. Much feistier than usual. Kasich, Huckabee, Cruz, and Rubio did the best in this one. Watched the JV team debate also earlier yesterday. The JV Team did okay, but no real break outs, the bottom four should just clear out, the media won't let them into the Primetime debate, that is pretty clear. I did like Ted Cruz's little attack on the media, but in his own mockery he pretty much detailed why the GOP fails so much lately. Instead of favoring people with actual records of positive government accomplishment, they pick non-Christians and comic book villains. Also I noted Carly Fiorina's new appearance, lol, seems like she's trying to look like Hillary.

I attended Colorado University, located in The People's Republic of Boulder. I was expecting the audience to be left-wingers and stoners. They were not. I expected CNBC to act like members of the DNC, and pose mostly gotcha questions. They did, but the audience booed them when they went too far. So mostly, I enjoyed the night of debate.

Since I watched the World Series and recorded the debate for viewing this morning, I'll go with a baseball analogy. These candidates have talent and they all got hits when at bat. I can't name one on them who didn't impress. No matter who you support, you can make a case that they are skilled enough to lead as President.

Now, the news that I will discuss even more after next falls Presidential election. An election that Hillary will likely win. The headlines will read; What Happened? Republicans had a strong candidate. That candidate seemed to win all the debates against Hillary. All the news outlets us conservatives watch told us we were going to win. How did we lose?

Remember during the debate, when Rand Paul explained that we once had 16 working Americans to support and pay for each retired person on Social Security? Then he said we currently have only 3 working Americans to support each retired person on Social Security. He joked and said people had too many children during the baby boom and today they are not having so many children. That's the math that will destroy and end Social Security. It's simple math really.

That is what we will wake up to next November. We knew, early on election night that Hillary was going to win almost all of the northeast states. Ronald Reagan could not beat Walter Mondale today in states like New York. Remember when President Obama won Pennsylvania? They determined that he received 102% of the votes in several predominantly black precincts. Yes, that's 2% more votes than there were registered people in those precincts. I thought that only happened in Chicago. Anyway, Republicans knew how many electoral votes they needed and they knew even a terrible Democrat candidate had at least 200 electoral votes guaranteed before the sun came up. What Republicans had to do was get more than 10% of Black votes and more than 40% of Hispanic votes. Nothing said in any debate was going to make that happen. Like baby boomers, Hispanic families are growing fast, five times faster than every other group. It was a mathematical certainty that Democrats would win in swing states based solely on the growth of the Hispanic population that primarily support Democrats, regardless of who they are. Hillary could be indicted by the FBI the day before the Presidential election and she will still win. Republicans do not have the votes to defeat her. If you were hoping that Hispanic voters were going to stay home and not vote, Donald Trump made certain that they will register and vote next November. Does anyone here not see how this will play out?

All I have to say is. Pray,Pray,Pray and Pray some more. The past several elections just seem like we are voting for the lesser of the evils. But the evils keep getting worse.

This might be the first year that I will actually flip a coin.

Lol Ohioans don't vote like the partisan states. The partisans are there, but the power is in the swing voters. Kasich's popularity in Ohio is nothing to wonder at he was even re-elected in a landslide in a state that's about even on partisanship, so it's nothing about the Dem vs GOP dynamic. Ohioans still remember when the GOP Taft screwed us over and then Dem Strickland screwed us over. Could care less about your parties.

Kasich came in and beyond any politics watcher's wildest expectations recovered Ohio tremendously from their decade plus of downward spiraling in a surprisingly short amount of time, even within 1 term! Kasich is a perfect candidate for president. We have had back to back failed presidents with Bush and Obama, Kasich is maybe the only politician in the entire nation capable and more importantly proven to be president and also to manage and start to fix this tremendous mess that both the GOP and the Democrat parties have turned America into.
