Some say men age better than woman?

To riff off of Bill Burr, only in the middle bit.

During the child-bearing years and into the 40s/early 50s...men might age better. After all, women are still largely responsible for child-rearing and home keeping. Often this is on top of an "outside job." So, yeah, that's a lot of stress and responsibility.

But...let's fast forward to their 70s and 80s...suddenly men are dropping like flies with heart issues (shudda cried more, man), or dealing with alzheimers (too much bacon? not enough multi-tasking?). Suddenly, those octagenarian women who are going to zumba class and are involved in a book club and are still sharp as tacks have the leg up on the men.

Yeah... I have a tendency to roll them up into a crunchy little ball and throw them at people.

Certain people. Particular people.

*eyes Lynx suspiciously*

You know I was just playing with ya, Mitspa. I hope you know that. :D
It seems that the environment here almost asks for extreme sarcasm.

And honestly, yeah a lot of the time women do age faster. I wonder why that is.

Alot of women use products on their face and skin, these things arent really good to have on your skin all the time, so it causes more damage to your skin.

Is what Ive heard anyway, I dont doubt it either :p

I think it's the tanning. Tanning and sun bathing can really damage skin. It's why whenever I go out into the sun I use an umbrella! haha
Also, staying up late at night, drinking, and partying really affects the face and causes wrinkles at a young age. I see some of my high school classmates who have crows feet at 25! This has happened more to the girls that partied hard.
But like you all say, stress, worry and lots of product can damage the skin as well.

It's not because women actually "age faster." It's because our acculturated beauty standards allow for the ruggedness of age to appear in a man's face. They call it "distinguished" or "mature." Same thing on a woman's face, and she's called "haggard."

It's about how we INTERPRET the visible signs of aging in men vs. women. In men it's viewed as an accomplishment, in women it's viewed as a compromise or a moral failing.

I think it depends on the level of stress that the person gets. It happens to be that most women gets more stress than men do. Especially when a woman have her own family.

PoetMary you always say what I want to say and I'm glad there is someone else on CC who thinks like I do. It's all about our perceptions of age not who actually "ages" faster. Women generally live longer, so I don't think it's that females age faster...that doesn't make sense. XD
