Three months later, in December 1971, the band travelled to Switzerland to record Machine Head. The album was due to be recorded at the Montreux Casino, using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio, but a fire during a Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention gig, caused by a man firing a flare gun into the ceiling, burned down the Casino. This incident famously inspired the song "Smoke on the Water". The album was later recorded in a corridor at the nearby empty Grand Hotel.

Girl, like I mentioned earlier if I was able to make it through last weekend with having three essays due, a huge test to study for, tutoring until midnight on Saturday, on top of going through some personal issues, not to mention my daily responsibilities. I know with God you can do this, in fact with God you can conquer anything this world has to throw at you. I will pray for his strength and peace to sustain my dear sister that at moments of pure craziness you can get it all done without the feeling of being overwhelmed. I understand where you are at, but remember God is there through it all to lean on for strength to push through whenever you may need a little extra push.
