My mom stopped by unannounced again today, and I think she was relieved to see that me and my house were in much better shape.

She brought me a serving platter that matches a bowl my grandma gave me before she moved away last summer; the bowl and platter used to belong to my great grandmother who passed away ten years ago. The bowl is actually where I got the inspiration for the colors I used on the antique cabinet. It's pretty stinkin' cool to have all these old pieces from our family.

But? I am drinking mango orange juice and eating a blueberry and fig cookie, so it COULD be worse. Glad it's not.

I wonder if I could MAKE these. Hmmmm.... I could see a cranberry and fig. Local cranberries, you know. I bet that would work. Only 4 weeks left till the Cranberry Festival in town. I am thinking about how to do a whole bunch of cookies. Tell me what you guys think... (and if you didn't get it? The theme is cranberry)

Oatmeal, Craisin and Dark Chocolate Chip
White Chocolate Craisin (maybe with hazelnuts... they are local too)
Cranberry Ginger Shortbread (some dipped in chocolate)
Cranberry Fig Newtons (kinda)

There's a possibility I'll be moving in with a friend in the fall to save money. I love living on my own though, so I'm not entirely sure I'm going to do it. But saving money does sound great...

It's hard to find a place that will take my dog. She's tall and over 50 pounds. I just don't understand pet limits. Like, I could have 4 nosy, obnoxious children, but heaven forbid I have a dog over 20 pounds. Why not just get references for a pet that could tell you that she doesn't bark, she's well behaved, not aggressive, etc. But as long as she's over 20 pounds, none of that matters.

Bleh. I could have my sister keep her in the meantime, I'm just not sure I could part with her and only see her once every few months.

I sound pathetic. :p

Olerica, I actually have a white chocolate craisin cookie recipe that I came up with a few years ago, and they are FABULOUS. I can vouch for that flavor. Go for it! :D

I totally know what you mean about the dog thing. I've thought about moving out before. But I have a 45-55 pound husky and a cat. And if I moved out I might inherit another cat. And unless I wanna be paying like 1,100 a month in rent, I can't have three pets and surely can't have one over 50 pounds. I'm better off trying to buy a small house. -_-

The past few months have been really difficult, but today I was listening to some praise and worship music and I was truly humbled. Here's something I posted to Facebook:

It's so very easy to wrestle with life, to struggle with everyday minutiae, to look at ourselves, at our loved ones, at the world at large and ask 'Why?' To compare ourselves with our neighbours in material, physical, mental or spiritual matters (or all four). But please remember, if the only blessing/gift God ever gave you was His Son, Jesus Christ, that would be more than enough to say loudly and proudly, "GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO ME!"

Pamela's is awesome. One of my favorite gluten-free brands. As far as gluten-free breads go, I found a frozen variety that I like. It's actually the ONLY one I like so far. Rudi's gluten-free bakery. I wish I could find gluten-free bagels. I have a whole list of stuff I like lol
