This is extremely personal, but I had to let go of who thought was a very good friend and in reality was not. So, I deleted everything that they ever sent me because God told me he has better plans just around the corner so I had to listen.
He'll use this for His purpose, just like anything and everything else. I have had similar experiences, but in the long run it was a blessing, and glory to God for that. I will be praying for you, sister!

Call me the naive one (or a sinful and willingly 'dead in ignorance' type), but last I went to church was at sixteen. This was around the prime time of questioning as to what I believed and followed and thought that the solution was to head to church after insisting myself weeks prior to it that I'd go. Attended Sunday night mass and left. It wasn't the same anymore. It used to be something that helped me to get through the week even if I didn't know everything about it. The people who attended weren't so bothersome, but there wasn't a connection either.

In a way, I'm glad I was raised in the Catholic church I went to for religion classes and whatnot. It wasn't the best and there were definitely flaws now looking back. But with the way many shun you just because you don't do something they say is what drives one out so quickly. I remember a nun told us that if we didn't attend to every Sunday mass, we would be questioned and ultimately sent to hell. -shrugs-

I've looked into other sections somewhat. Some seem a bit crazier than others, but I'll admit that I'm probably going by stereotype more than anything else.
I quit going to church on a regular basis when I was sixteen also, but up until then I don't recall ever really finding any comfort in it, nor did I understand any of the rituals we were passed through like an assembly line. It was just a mystery to me, the stations of the cross, the statuary, the candles, the hush, the silence, the secrets. I did continue to attend at Christmas and Easter, even after moving away from home, as well as for family functions such as weddings and funerals mostly, but that was it for many years... decades, even. I remember attending one sort of new age church a few times and it puzzled me that they talked about Jesus. I had nothing against Jesus, but jeepers, can't we get away from this Jesus fellow for a while? Isn't there something else? What was so important about Him? But I loved talking about God, and trying to figure out what it was all about was an adventure, though different denominations confused me (not any more so much). I went to a Catholic church (to go to confession) near where I live when I was going through the Alpha course at another church, just before I got baptized almost eleven years ago, or right around that time. "Bless me, father, for I have sinned. It has been thirty three years since my last confession." Ahem. The priest asked me to wait until everyone else was finished, as he wished to speak to me privately. We went into a separate room and spoke for almost an hour. I wish I had told him more, but there were some elements of my story that were just too weird in a demonic sort of way, but what I did disclose he was very encouraged by. I tried to find him later, but I could not, as he was not a regular priest at that church, and he was just one of many Father Johns. I did not even tell the really freaky part at my baptism when I testified. Maybe it is because I do not really understand what happened. It was the most terrifying thing I had ever experienced in my life.
