One of the things I love to do is look through my dad's telescope and talk about space. As a little kid I was convinced I was going to be an astronaut Well, I can still get there but bad ankles might not be in my favour. One thing though that really really fascinates me is how time and space are connected. Theres a principle called space dilation and simply put, if you could travel at the speed of light, time would stand still for you relative to someone back on earth timing you. Time is also affected by mass. So when you pass by massive objects or even big planets, time is slowed. Hang out near a black hole if your brave enough and time will dramatically slow for you relative to someone on earth. Theres maths I could put here thats quite simple, but I wondered if others like this sort of stuff as well - any other space geeks out there?
