Finished reading The Martian by Andy Weir. Pretty good book, except for the numerous swear words.

Really hope the movie isn't a flop :(

A friend of mine said she hated it, haha. Supposedly there was a lot of technical information, a lot of math - and she hates math. Reviews are positive though, and the movie looks like a huge production. Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes, that's true, it does get technical in some parts of the book. I had to "Google-up" some jargon here and there. However, the story line is pretty solid. The author, Andy Weir even took the time to accurately predicted the Estimated Time of Arrival to Mars from Earth's calendar system. He wrote a program that simulated the trajectory path and time for the spacecraft to reach to Mars. Science Fiction meets Science Fact. SO cool! :D

Somebody's cows escaped and decided to wander down our street (so maybe it was less like an ambush and more like just some local thugs casing the neighborhood...?).

But that would be an exciting way to go about getting a steak...catch it as it walks over your lawn.

oh noo :( So sorry, Olerica. I hope you find something to make you happy again soon. I've been so busy and my life's been so chaotic lately that everyday is at least partly sad for me too. I haven't even had the time or energy to answer PMs. Sometimes i don't know what to think anymore. But please take care of yourself and remember that you are loved. (((HUG)))
