Wow 19 votes for staying a virgin. That's so cool. For all of those who are still a virgin keep it up. For those who are trying to become pure again. Way to go. For those who plan from here on not to have sex until marriage. You can do it and good luck.

Well you know what TinTin. It might surprise you that most people arent virgins before they marry. I hate this well I'm a virgin so I must be a better christian than you or I am holier. Sex is a natuaral part of life - not for me I might add - but pretty much for everyone else.. You can throw every verse of the bible you want at them and tell them how unholy they are, all you want. I'm not going to judge someone on their Hymen. I'd much rather know they were gentle and kind and generous and funny and all the things that I think make a good person.

YES!!! My husband had past experiences, but I wouldn't trade him for the most upright Christian virgin male in all of the world. His experiences is PART of what made him who he is. If he were shaped another way, but the same and a virgin? Fine.

But while sex is a really intimate experience, even Paul lumped marriage and sensuality in with "the world" 1 Cor 7:32-35... what he felt could ultimately be a distraction from God, rather than a form of honoring Him, which is one of the biggest reasons given to stay a virgin, to honor Him. It's a relative matter, I believe, and Paul blatantly says so in terms of status.

If Paul recommends staying with a spouse even though they are not a believer and you just became one, doesn't it make sense that he would probably also say that someone who has had sex but has been made clean by God is worthy of courting?

I do agree with Tintin that we should be able to rebuke one another in love, and not insult one another. But it's a very delicate matter, because we all have different ideas as to what qualifies for "good fellowship" with one another. *sigh*

I'm not some deluded Christian, I know many people aren't virgins by the time they get married, even many Christians. But please tell me where I projected a holier than thou attitude, because that's not what I shared. It's a bit sad that I'm called holier than thou just because I want to follow Jesus commands. I know it's not easy, but I believe it's possible. I have friends who have had sex before marriage, some with children. I love them very much and they know my views. They don't agree with me, but we I respect them and they respect me.

I'm certainly not perfect, but I'm not some angry street-preacher. So why are you so critical of me? I prefer to get to know people and to help them than to condemn them. I share God's love and truth in word and action, but in a very natural way. But what do I know? Apparently you think I judge someone on their hymen, when it's more likely I judge someone by their hymnal. Haha. See, I made a rubbish joke. Your concluding sentence is somewhat problematic, because I never mentioned that those who have sex before marriage weren't good people.
