you know what, i think He probably did onwings. I belive in waiting on the Lord and His perfect timming. this thread came to mind as i was in chat, just as valentines day was comming up, i just love the whole picture of marriage. And how God has set the earthly marriage as an example of His love for the church. and we are to be witnesses to the whole world, married or not. But as a married christian, you will be an example to the world for sure. Since we are the Bride of Christ. I just love this picture.
i think as we pray and wait, God is maturing us in 'HIS love for us, and love for others and teaching us. Self sacrifce.

So should we blame God for all of the bad marriages... for the abusive spouses.. for the divorces, too?

God has given us a mind as well as emotions and enough guidelines along with family, friends, and church leaders for sound advice.

Ultimately we choose or choose otherwise.

It's best not to ask teh question "has God chosen your mate".. if you say no... that's a really bad sign.

well the reason i ask, is some people don't think waiting is nessesary, and that God yes has given free will. But waiting for that right person, rather than going for the first of second person we meet. I think we have lots of options, but there is one right one for each one of us, do you belive that? i do.

I don't think it' about marrying the right one, but about how well you are able to live with the same person day in day out for the rest of your life. You could still marry the right person, but if you are a jerk it's not going to a good marriage.

lol, your funny! if your a jerk. Well there are devine appointiment, and i do belive God will show you bye His spirit who the right person is for you. you have to loook at it like this, well you don't have to,but i do. I see a person God has for me, and i wait and i pray. God has to prepare us and our hearts, just as HE is preparing us to with with HIm one day, and refining. And also mahog, how would you know that person is the right one?

Then again, i've known some people in your situation always waiting and waiting for the right person never end up getting married.
I believe if you are with someone, and you don't think they are the right one, they aren't the right one, best to break it off with them, and find someone you are happy with. Otherwise there will always be that thought in the back of your mind that they aren'et right for you.

Let's face it, this "finding the right person" is a nice spiritual way to tell others that we are too ugly to find someone who is attracted to us. Because if God has chosen for you to marry the hunch back of Notre Dame..or even a prostitute, will you obey Him?

oops, don't take what i said the wrong way olivetree, not saying anyone is ugly, but it is often a good excuse to use if we are socially inept, or ugly, or whatever.. to believe that God is able to make up for our shortcomings.

I used to think that there was someone for everyone, but I've met too many older people who never got married. Not because they didn't want to, but just because they never found anybody. I don't know whether that means they were being too picky and missed out on the "right person," or because it was just God's will for them to stay single.

This whole..waiting for the right one thing..sounds so spiritual, perhaps too spiritual..let's face it, marriage between a man and woman is mainly about making babies, not some great spiritual pursuit... I think knowing if someone is right, can only be known in hindsight, after marrying them..and I guess believing that they are the one chosen by God, helps to remove that fear and uncertainty and doubt. Unless that person you thought was the right one, divorced you a year later, and then that can really mess up your head.

haha!! that's not always the case. Some people are in a situation always waiting and waiting for the right person never end up getting married not because nobody finds them attractive. Most Christian women I've known that are still waiting just won't settle for someone who are not fully committed in Christ. I think there are only few men nowadays that is fully committed in the ministry. THe ones that I see faithfully serving in the church are all taken..

well serves them right really if they are that fussy , most good christian men are going to be working 9 to 5 jobs and are too busy to be fully committed in the ministry. May not be a good thing either to focus on guys in the ministry they are around a lot more women probably than an office worker or construction worker , and it would not be a first for a person in ministry to have an affair. Full time ministry is also a lot more pressure on the relationship with committments to other people etc.

Hehe. I don't get it why the need for 9 to 5 jobs? That's so tiring. I wonder if they still find joy in life for that.
Here in our country though I don't know if there are people having 3jobs(max). MOstly people here just have one job at a time. MOst men just find it corny being so involved in church activities.

well i think that marrige is more than making babies my friend. Our relationship will be a reflection of christ our Lord. I have to admit i have been waiting. And also being obediant to God in my singleness. IF God showes you somthing, than you must wait. I think full time ministry is an awesome calling and a gift from God. i think a relationship is more than just passion for another, but love, not only for another, but for our God.. i know you know this. don't be unequally yoked for sure.

wait, what you mean by 9 to 5 work is having more that 5 different jobs or you mean working 9am to 5pm daily? if it's the latter, we all work that way, no it's actually 8am-5:30pm, but if its the former, no i think nobody in here having 5jobs at a time.
I bet Australians and Japanese love to work. now I'm starting to think why many asians wants to migrate in Australia.. hmmm
