So we might be moving. Not out of town, unfortunately, but it will be at the uptown area since we're at downtown of it. A slight bit closer and more time to get ready in the mornings for when I take the transportation bus to go to school in the mornings. Ultimately, I'd love to get myself stable enough be on my own elsewhere. Wish us luck with this move, however. We're going to need it.

And... politics. I never thought I'd invest the time I have lately on it let alone stand on my behalf on it, but yeah. Especially when I am questioned on certain subjects that even then I'm still on the fence with, but it's more than likely not in a good way as to why I would be questioned to begin with. That's all I will say.

What about temperature changes in food or drinks makes them taste better or worse, if actually anything? *Wonders...*

No idea. But cold tea that was meant to be hot? Not so appealing on the tastebuds... I mean, if it was iced tea and was made to be a cold beverage, then sure. Kind of like hot coffee and iced coffee. I love both. But I don't like my coffee that was meant to be hot cold, and my coffee that was meant to be all warm.

My sister's boyfriend is so aggravating. At first I thought God was testing me because her boyfriend tests my patience, I'm not sure if i'm still being tested though.

Not sure what you mean. Just let me put this out there.

When I was single, my best friend's husband was so aggravating. We just disagreed. We were all Christians at that time too. Anyway, over a period of time God softened my heart and suddenly I didn't feel so irritated by him. In fact, we really started getting along. I always wondered if God had softened his heart as well. It was cool to witness what God's love does in a person.

Now that the sun light is lasting a little longer, I'm feeling more human again. And now that I'm feeling more human, I've been doing more productive junk. Like yesterday, I picked up where I left off on my idea of starting some kind of a support group for single parents in this area, but thought I would double-check the available programs because it's been a while. Well, much to my surprise (category: pleasant), there is now a shelter for victims of domestic violence, which was started/opened just a few short weeks after I had first gone poking around to see if our town had a place like that.

At this point in time, it wouldn't be very possible for me to be the founder of a whole new group/organization. Things like...well, life...take up the majority of my time. And I'm happy with that. However, this new shelter may need volunteers, and so tomorrow, I'm going to head into town to find out what I can do to help.

Aside from that, a lady from the community college finally replied to an inquiry about uncredited (is that the right word?) art classes, and I may be able to join one of them. Or maybe I won't, and I'll just think about it and procrastinate some more.

Oh! And I accidentally squished a worm with my bare hand while pulling weeds earlier...which is totally irrelevant, but it was pretty gross and also the worst thing that's happened to me today...which makes me think I'm doing pretty darn good.

at work, sometimes i say "you're welcome" even before someone says thank you....

or sometimes they don't even say it at all....
from a number of your posts that i've read you commenting about frustrating/aggravating folks that you work with. it sounds like maybe you work with the public?

anyway, i can certainly relate, only the frustrating people i deal with are co-workers/other teams that i have to interact with.

several years ago, i was listening to something, a sermon or message, and it was a reminder for me that God uses all kinds of small daily stuff to round off our edges, refine us, and bring about fruit in our lives. since then, i've kind of forced myself to show more joy in these frustrating scenarios and show gratitude, both for them and the job i have (which really spoke to me at the time because i was working with someone who was VERY difficult for me and mostly drove me nuts : D).

it's not always effective, but it's a discipline in my life that i aspire to. : ) anyway, your post reminded me of that.

what a fascinating topic!!!

it's really interesting to me how temperature affects our perception of the five taste receptors--and a topic that i've come to really enjoy learning about. this was actually something that was so very fascinating to me that when i really started studying cooking and baking/ techniques.

well, this was pretty curious to me, so i started researching this as well, and how i could utilize this info. : )

some of this can be explained from our brains tasting receptors, and understanding how temperatures affect their specific perceptions. for example, receptor trpm5, which receives bitter, sweet and umami flavors is more sensitive when food is warmer (vs. cold). each taste has their own range of optimum and waning temperature ranges.

also, they know that the actual tongue's temperature affects the different nerves that can be accessed, such as the front of the tongue's nerves will be inclined to taste sweet when it is warmed up and salty/bitter when it is cooled down. we have multiple nerve centers on the tongue that have shown this, such as the back of the tongue especially.

one of the best ways i've found to see just how both tongue and food temp change flavors is with water. notice how the same water, cold can taste differently than room temp. when you drink cold water, you'll notice (if you can) that as you have been drinking for a little while, even the flavor will change (because your tongue has become cold as well). i've drank a lot of well water, and it seems the best for these kind of tests because of all the different mineral flavors.

so much of tasting center is more than just found in our mouth, such as smell and even messages sent to the brain that are anticipatory, such as previous memories, and other stimuli that can heighten or interfere with senses. for example, food that is tasted with a blindfold is often reported to taste quite differently than when sight is unhindered. of course, much isn't understood, either. but it is very interesting!

Wow! I was not expecting something so enlightening. Thanks for the info, gypsygirl! Also: you can, potentially, enlighten me further with some of your baking techniques. Just saying. :p

Today at work I came reeeeeaaaaaal close to turning around and saying to a certain person, "Did you take a course at college for this, are you a professional complainer? Or is it just a natural talent, something you've been good at since you were a child?"

I know, I know, now I'm complaining about that person's complaining, how meta. :-/
