That's very odd, indeed. I'm not sure what to say. I mean, horoscopes are nothing to mess around with in my humble opinion. But I dunno....
Yeah, the ones with the zodiac signs are all for fun but apparently, there is a serious side to it. It's an ancient ritual in India, where one always did something after consulting his horoscope. A Hindu marriage is usually solemnised only after both the groom and the bride have been 'approved' by the astrologers. By 'approval', I mean that the astrologers have compared their horoscopes and have certified that their horoscopes are compatible with each other. Sometimes, one partner may have a negative energy in his/her horoscope which could affect the other partner, even to the point of terminally-ill diseases or death.

To be honest, I believe that we who are washed and redeemed by the Blood of Jesus are free from such curses. I believe that we are free from whatever powers horoscopes may possess in order to dictate the course of one's life.

Roh_Chris, I don't read horoscopes nor do I know the full extent of the one you read, but it seems that they are just vague enough to be able to talk yourself into thinking it's true for you.

For example, many people struggle with controlling their appetite and eating too much. Many people could read the "neurological disease" part and say, "You know, I have been having a lot of anxiety/worrying lately."

And in a sense, it could be a self-fulfilling prophecy. The horoscope says you will "find an unexpected love interest", so the next time you're out with friends, you see someone who interests you, and normally you wouldn't walk over but "maybe this is the unexpected my horoscope was talking about" so you walk over and introduce yourself.

Like I said, there is probably a darker, more serious side to horoscopes, or maybe not, but the ones I've encountered seem to be like the ones I mentioned above.

I agree, I wouldn't put stock in the stars and galaxy and my birthday having anything to do with my personal life. And I'd rather them not, anyway. They do not care, they are not alive the way Christ is.

@Chris: Perhaps it's a lesson in humility.

Yeah, horoscopes are pretty stupid.

But I'm narrow minded like that.
I also restrain myself from cutting the entrails out of goats to divine who I should date.

Took car to shop for oil leak, other repairs and routine maintenance in neighboring town. I usually breakfast at a greasy spoon, take bus to the mall and/or catch a movie. It's a great day off work which I refer to as my "spa day."
Just got that call from the shop...repairs are a few hundred less than the estimate, and car will be ready soon...
So much for my spa day.

So, as it stands I am currently at 144 lbs and I need to get down 14 more pounds to reach my fitness goal.
It doesn't necessarily have to deal with the 'weight' as much as it means fitness but it matters because I have always had subtle issues when it came to food, and I have always been a notorious overeater. I have never had issues with bulimia or anorexia, but I was still giving into the sin of gluttony because I was seeking that chemical release from what food could bring to me, call it a 'soul' affirming relationship and what not, or maybe even the seeking of a void that I had, either way it was a subtle deterrent from me seeking counsel from the living God and not spending time with him.

I had gotten to the point in my life where I was on the edge of falling into my faith and really listening to the conviction that the Holy Spirit was bringing me in terms of food and just listening to him and giving things up in my life. I still honestly deal with this, and it is a constant improvement, but at this point I am just thankful that God would even consider instructing me, and helping me to defeat these lifelong habits that I had previously ignored...

When I used to hang out with my friends it showed to them. It was about feeling this inherent need to just have something additional in my body. Whether it be a drink, a hamburger...but now it's getting to the point where I am becoming more conscious about what my body is saying and sometimes not even that...more about what it plausible for the time being. And knowing the balances. For example, sometimes I still eat a lot of bread but recently I threw out a bunch of bagels that I had recently bought and now I am thinking about going to the store and reading up more about gluten free products and really wanting to access these fat storages that have been neglected over the past few years. But anyway, when I used to go these restaurants I would feel the need to just buy the food, instead of just exercising that self-control, that is brought on by the Holy Spirit- that sanctification. I had not previously ever had that. In fact, it was about being like everyone else and just having something in front of me. Maybe it was brought on partially by my childhood.... I had been at this point where I on my own authority, six year old little me ,would not even consider or think that much about what was in front of me, it was all about play. But my Grandmother and everyone else around me instilled into me to 'empty' my plate. And I didn't want it. I was accumulating weight after that. Not saying that it's partially their fault but it is what I plan on taking in inconsideration in the future.
So overall, the point of this message to myself is that, conviction about food and health is important. It doesn't mean that you are in this constant obsession state but instead we are listening to that conviction and prompting more and more everyday.
The end.

Making my own decisions to be healthier too :) After eating gluten-free french toast and a slightly shameful amount of marshmallows this morning/afternoon, I decided it's time for a REAL meal, and I'm making chicken (I put celtic sea salt, cayenne pepper and white pepper on it), green beans, and I'll be having a bowl of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. Antioxidants FOR THE WIN!). Trying to get back on track isn't easy, especially when it feels like everything else is against you. But this is something I NEED to do. Gotta woman up, and do things I don't want to do.

Roh_Chris: Some horoscopes are calculated for the lowest common denominator. They have no spiritual influence but they are calculated so that they will apply to the greatest number of people with the most vague terms possible. Others are legitimately influenced by demons... remember the possessed girl who followed the apostles around proclaiming that they were the servants of the Most High God? And for those who have no protection, the efforts of demons can be very effective. But as the Bible says, greater is He that is in me...

Haha, I'm doing it because it's something I've needed to do so long ago, and I keep on saying I wanna do it and I haven't done it...the rubber's gotta meet the road eventually! lol Though this really is the best time to start eating healthier. Heckuva lot easier to do now that everything's thawing out and my mood is elevating (though the I'm not feeling like it was a terrible excuse, I must say).

today is another beautiful day outside..yay.. and I'm able to actually get out and walk around.. double yayy!! The ducks are acting crazy today--one minute they're quiet as mice, and the next they're quacking their heads off like a pack of dogs are after them.. though I think it's the mink down in the river; it likes to chase them. There's about 50 ducks versus 1 mink--you'd think they would eat it..lol.. :)

I wonder why everyone is so tired here. Half of my co-workers sleep intermittently throughout the day (whether they're off the clock or clocked in).

I was having a long argument with my ex about the validity of horoscopes. While she believed that they had some influence on a person's life, I believed that it was a crude and unscientific method of predicting a person's life. I even detested it because the sheer idea that a person's life could be shaped by the position of the sun, moon and a horde of stars sounded ridiculous to me. Furthermore, I believe that our times are in God's hands and it is He who alone can influence it (apart from we, ourselves).

Anyway... two days back, she challenged me to get my horoscope read. I wanted to play along and so I gave her my birth date and my time of birth. Half an hour later, she called me back in half an hour and gave me an analysis which shook me a bit. My horoscope was precise and it was near-accurate. What stood out was the prediction about my 'Health'. According to my horoscope, I am likely to suffer from two diseases - neurological and indigestion. It went on to say that my indigestion was because I ate a lot, with little control over my appetite.

This shook me real good because I have acute indigestion. My stomach seems to have a problem with almost anything I eat (which is just about everything). But how could a horoscope predict that accurately, with just my date and time of birth? Is there an explanation to it which I haven't considered before? Or is this a deception of the devil to mislead us into believing it?
I don't know what the neurological disorder is but I.think one out of every 10 people in the world have digestive issues, especially from eating. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, after thinking further upon this, I think these things were overall lucky guesses. I mean, they could have easily said the same thing about me - I battle depression and I have food allergies, and both are on the rise. It's a common thing to go up to someone these days and they'll say they battle with a neurological/mental disorder/disease, or are gluten-free, have an autoimmune disease that prevents them from having certain foods or have to completely change their diet to ward off symptoms.
I definitely still believe horoscopes can go very bad, and they can have someone or something behind them that we want nothing to do with. I mean, people that are intro witchcraft, wicca, paganism and the like use horoscopes and are into astrology for a reason.

Today I learned that pinched nerves can be caused by a lack of potassium, guess who is going to buy bananas later?

You didnt' say anything bad about reading tea leaves though, or casting dice.

Me, I like to throw about 50 darts at once at a dart board and pick an outcome that way.

Lots of people suffer from indigestion, especially people who work long hours. You travel for work, I'm assuming you work pretty hard too don't you?

Horoscopes are either one of two things - extremely vague predictions like RachelsEdge said, predictions which could apply to so many people that if you look at it you might say "yeah, that's me." The other thing they are is a legitimate occult activity which has no place in the life of the Christian.

Today I learned that pinched nerves can be caused by a lack of potassium, guess who is going to buy bananas later?

And you mentioned you're working on weight loss right now too, which probably means exercise. You need the stuff with exercise. Don't forget the other basics like plenty of protein, a decent amount of fat in your diet, and some cholesterol, not to mention lots of calcium and vitamins and minerals from vegetables.

Oh my word.

Some of you already know this, but a little bit of a back story, and I'll try to make it short.

Fall 2013, my grandma gives me a cut-out ad from a magazine from ChristianMingle (you know it's getting bad when your grandmother gives you an online dating site ad, a grandmother who calls it "the internets") and told me to try it. So I did the trial or whatever. One guy contacted me, we exchanged emails, texts, a few calls. Went on three dates. By the second I was pretty sure it wasn't going to go anywhere, but I decided to give it one more go.

He was very...forward. And...a little loony. And I was pretty certain by the end of the second date that he thought I was "the one". So certain of this was I, in fact, that on the third date when he took me to the mall "for a surprise", I was absolutely terrified it was going to be a ring. But, he took me to a puppy store, which was actually pretty thoughtful. The breaking point was when I picked up a puppy, held it, passed it to him like a baby, and he said "This is like practice."

NO. NO IT'S NOT.

So that night after I got home, the opportunity came up to where I texted him that I didn't think it was going to work out, good luck in life, yadda yadda. He would not. let. go. Kept texting me. I told him to stop. He messaged me on Facebook. I de-friended him. A few months later he tried to call me and then he texted me again with truly weird stuff. I told him I was blocking his number. I don't know how to do that, and I didn't...but I told him I did and the texting stopped. That was December 2013.

Now, in March of 2015, over a year later...

He sends me a Facebook friend request.

My reactions are as follows:

It's not necessarily the fact that I dislike him so much. It is the fact that he will not stop and take no for an answer. It ticks me the heck off. It's like we dated for 3 years and he's super torn up but it was actually like...1 month of sort-of interaction.
