oldhermit: Besides rattlesnakes, what do y'all hunt in Texas? (I'm not a hunter, I'm just idly curious.)

Well, there are different types of game fowl, deer, feral hogs, javelinas, ground hogs, mountain lions, coyotes, varments of varying types. I do not normally hunt things I cannot eat but hogs are such a problem here and they are so destructive to farm land that they have to constantly be hunted.

Yup. Southwest Tennessee. How'd ya know?

Why do so many Americans love the KJV Bible?
Yes, and it was Authorised by God, I mean King Jimmy. Oops.
I get the feeling you don't think so much of it. But why would it bother you that so many Americans seem to love the KJV? Or have you overdosed on too many "This is the Bible version we should use" threads here in CC?

Personally I use KJV, ASV and ESV. I have a neat Bible program where you can click on a verse and read that verse in all the Bible versions you have installed, in one screen. Great for comparison and study.

As a 36 year old who is 13 days away from getting kicked out of the church youth group (37th birthday March 30th) I have to say... may God richly bless you for saying that sir!

My immediate reaction is to feel like y'all oughta have one massive hog hunt, followed by the biggest barbecue fest ever seen. That's just me though.

Actually I recall something in the Bible where God said He would drive the Caananites out little by little before Israel, specifically because if He drove them all out at once the domestic animals would become feral. Hmm...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! :)
I have to wear a work uniform and it has not a speck of green. First person who pinches me for not wearing green gets laid out by a haymaker to the chin.

Hmm... reading my previous sentence, it seems I'm more grumpy than I thought. Stupid bird perched on my air conditioner and woke me up singing its dern fool head off at six paces from my ear. I was NOT happy.

Hunting hogs in Texas has unfortunately become a necessity. The problem is that the hog population is so large that no matter how many hogs hunters kill, we will never even be able to make a dent. Some hunt them from helicopters and kill them by the hundreds but they multiply far faster than they we can kill them. I kill so many that no I just leave them where they fall. Personally, I just love to hunt.

From Lee's Summit, Missouri! YEAH! He and his brother Mike. Their mom lives about a mile from me. Great family of musicians.

They were first introduced to the US through the British, French, and Spanish colonists. Most of the hogs would be left to run wild and caught when needed. Over the last few hundred years they simply multiplied to such an extent that now they are causing damage to farmland in the billions of dollars annually.
