The 'Pro' means it is the "Professional" version -- as opposed to the "Home" version.

if I get a laptop, 1st thing I do it kill windows and replace it with linux.

Through proper usage, hadn't had a virus problem since I can remember, malware and spyware minimal, no key loggers.

If you can, make sure you get a laptop with an SSD (solid state drive) Once you gone solid state, you won't go back :D

See that's the major advantage of flash drive installs. I don't have to kill Windows, I just boot from my flash drive and have Linux that is already customized to my taste. And years from now when I replace this computer I won't have to reinstall Windows before I give it to someone else.


But we're talking about what a normal person wants to get. Normal people don't want to learn how to partition a hard drive, they just want to get online and check facebook. It can be hard for us nerds to understand, but normal people don't want to learn the command line and they couldn't care less what the OS is as long as they can still get to ebay and amazon.com.

But for me... I heard a rumor that my friends have started a fund, for humanitarian reasons, for the purpose of buying from me any computer that falls into my clutches. Seems they consider it torture to have a computer running a different OS every day for a week. :p

This is true, very true. I haven't had a virus problem in... well... I haven't had a virus problem. And I have never, ever, EVER paid extortion money to some security company to keep my computer safe. Freeware security works just fine because the nerds who make it and put it out for free know what they are doing and actually focus on keeping people's computers safe instead of focusing on making money.

Microsoft Security Essentials, Malware Bytes Anti Malware, Spybot - though I haven't used that in a while and ComboFix - for when I get a friend who is in desperate need of help lol

I have malware bytes anti-malware, the free version. It works very well and found alot of PUP's that I didn't know about. I've tried downloading Spybot, but it won't work. I had another anti-malware program but I forgot the name of it..lol..

Spybot is awesome because you can run it in Linux (in Wine) and have it on a flash drive install. If a friend's computer is locked down in Windows, boot from the flash drive and roto-root that box.

I've tried downloading Spybot before, and it won't complete the download.. Can u use it in windows 7 too or is it just for Linux?

No one told me about this, I would think its pertinent, I just got off the phone with one of those foreign sales guys, told him to sell me whahe he can that would accomade me (just to see what he would come together with to bring it here to ask how ripped off I being lol

Can I ask them for linux? Or no?

I tried Microsoft Security Essentials (downloading it) last night and it wouldnt download on my present laptop so I guess I will still with what has always worked for me without any problems (McAfee)

No one here agrees on much lol

Okay, I had the guy tell me what I should get (to be cool) I helped him with the laptop size (I desire) and specifically asked for windows 7 and after he gace me the price I said I want to check out hiw reccomendations, can he email me these (so he did).

Overcharged here (to a great extent) here? Anything missing that should be here? Or anything that should be replaced?

Anyone know how to read this?

The price is $200 over what I wanted to spend, and I did ask for McAfee (and the CD if they still give those) which he said they do however, it just looks like a 30 days trial is included (nothing more then that). Cant find my mouse (to add)

Anyone see changes I could make?

(Not for so much for a gamer, computer nerd) but for an average user

Bad deal? Lynx would likely feel that way lol But non geniuses have to pay more for their ignorance in certain things, it takes me like a year to buy a car (Im so bad) lol

if it comes with windows 7, then you DON'T need the windows 8.1 English OS recovery.. u don't need the 90 days premium phone support..

The Mcafee is a 30 day free trial then u need to buy it and install it.. My Norton was the same.. I dont know what the rest of this stuff is but im sure lynx can tell you.. :)

I asked him if he could remove the support part he says it comes with (I can purchase 3 addition years after) but it comes with. I dont recall that response the first time around, I recall being able to drop it.

I dont know what that 8.1 english thing is

But I didnt requates a TRIAL of McAfee I requested IT (with CD) as they used to come (and seem not to come) anymore but thats not what I got.

This is good to know, before I purchase

tell the guy you dont want the phone support at all.. and most computers come with a trial version of AV...that way, you can switch to one you like, if what they put on dont work for ya.. When I bought mine, they opened it up to put Norton on so they should be able to remove the phone support..

I cant even understand the guys on the other end of Dells support, so its not like its really support (at least not for me). I never opt to buy their their support, but I asked about rejecting that and its just thrown in under whats included, its not like I can see how each is itemized (by cost).

Which always works to their advanatage it seems
