Jeez, why are all you ladies so far away...

I wish the ones that were local would sound half as practical as you all are. It's been my experience that just dating is incredibly expensive - my last budget estimate pegged it at around $100-150 a week. I've stayed single instead :D.
Holy crud. Back in my relationship days, I was with guys who often didn't even make $100 a week...

That's why it always makes me cringe when guys say all the women they've met are materialistic... The guys I dated didn't have any materials.

Snap, I fit that description too.

Materialistic or taken. Or Catholic... I broke up with a Catholic once.

But your other comment about "back in your relationship days." Ouchies.

Why does everyone in streams of consciousness sound like a dating has been at the moment... something is rotten in Denmark, I mean CC singles.

I was trying to calculate what I would like to try to pay off and save this coming year and the pathetic thing is, my savings would probably very well be twice as much if not for 12 years spent financially supporting men and their families. It's only by the grace of God I didn't wind up stone cold broke myself, but I came close a few times.

Which is downright depressing that I could make such lousy choices myself in latching onto people who kept making bad decisions and refused to change.

P.S. Servant, I totally did your sense of humor! :D

It's a dry heat- err, I mean humor.

I guess I don't get the idea of a woman financially supporting a guy. I've been bred for the exact opposite - even if the weight is crushing it's just something a man does. The thing is no one likes getting crushed (though getting crushed on is always nice, hah).

Honestly if I ever found a woman that was strong in Christ and didn't treat me like an ATM, I'd probably marry said woman, and if I ever had to support her in the future, I'd gladly do so.

Some of us women, believe it or not, were raised to be the counterpart to this value--I see my job as making HIS job easier and easing some of the burden. Isn't that the definition of "helpmate"? I might not make zillions of dollars but at the very least, could take a part-time job to help (I'm used to working a lot so it would feel strange NOT working).

And even if I were a stay-at-home spouse, then I'd be taking care of the domestic end so that hopefully he wouldn't have to worry too much about that end. I work hard at trying to be highly organized (I could hopefully always tell him where his keys and important papers are, even though my "system" of organization is often letting a pile build up and dealing with it once a week) and I'm good at keep records of things and paying things on time.

Some of us take our role of training to be a helpmate quite seriously... and have had good role models (both mothers who are terrific helpmates themselves and fathers who are Godly leaders) to teach us.

I wonder what would happen if God started putting some of these men who have worked to be good leaders and providers together with women who have worked hard at training to be good helpmates...

Nah. That'll never happen. We probably wouldn't listen even if He tried.

And if we did? An Apocalypse like the world has never seen is simply inevitable.

The barbarian horde?

That scene DOMINATES when you've got the audio equipment to back it up.

Asking for blessing of God to be all over you, and also all the health workers that will be helping you tomorrow to be led by Him and very comforting to help you through the procedure... Asking also that this injection will work and ease your pain and that the procedure will hurt as little as possible. amen

Ugh. I believe it. Just dinner and a movie reaches up into the $50+ range, I imagine. How are people supposed to sustain any level of dating activity that way?? We should have a thread for "cheap date" ideas. Picnics and hiking trips and in-house meals.

I love our movie theatre. It's $6 per adult. $4 for the matinee if you really want to be frugal. They have a popcorn and drink special too, but I never bother with that.

Wow. The average wage in Australia is a little higher than it is in the US, but it's still daylight robbery to have to pay $18+ dollars for a movie ticket. Cheap Tuesday is better, but still $12. I think a 'cheap date' thread sounds like a good idea, not that I'll be using those ideas any time soon.

I remember when $6 adult and $4 matinee was the average price. :( I don't even remember the last time I went to a theater. Its all dvd's for me now and there's hardly any good movies anymore. Even the 'good' ones leave me feeling disappointed. *sigh*

Speaking of movies.. I really wish the oscars would be over already. Every time I turn around someone's talking about the oscars. Ugh! And the sad part is that tomorrow they will be talking about who won and who didn't and who wore what... double ugh!!

I haven't watched the Oscars in a few years. I can't stand all tye fashion talk and I can't even imagine how much money is spent for the whole affair. I used to go to my friends Oscar Party and it was fun but then she moved out of town and I stopped watching.

Yea, I think they are a joke now. I mean i used to watch them every year and then somewhere along the line they started giving awards to movies I thought were really lame and that was around the same time that movies in general seemed to lose originality and talent (to me anyway). There were a couple movies that won best picture that just made me realize what a joke it all is.

The Emmys (awards for TV shows) on the other hand, I think are still worth their salt.
