1.) What is the best movie you've ever seen?

well, comparing genres would be like comparing apples and oranges. I love dramatizations of historical events and period pieces. Hotel Rwanda was an excellent example, and Sophie's Choice was perfectly acted (be both a young Kevin Kline as well as Meryl Streep), but neither movie leaves you with the warm fuzzies. For comedy, I like "Young Frankenstein." It is my litmus test to see if a woman has a sense of humor.

2.) What is the least favorite book you've read recently?
I don't know about recently. I guess that now I tend to research books a bit before I read them. A few months ago, I took a chance on a book while at Barnes and Noble, but that turned out to be a good one. I remember years ago hating "Left Hand of Darkness" and never finishing it, but maybe I'll give it another go sometime.

3.) What is the most annoying sound in the world to you?
There is this incredibly loud, obnoxious woman at work with the most annoying chuckle...

4.) What bad habit do you have that you'd like to change?
Waking up too slowly in the morning. I've been up almost an hour...and can hear the covers beckoning me back. I must resist their siren song and get on with the day. Those bills won't pay themselves!

5.) What type of shoes do you prefer to wear, and why?

birkenstocks with socks.jpg

because they are comfy! and no, I never wear them with socks....well....almost never.

A rubber ball.

A Yamaha 125 instead of a 5hp Scat Cat Minibike. :p

4. Where do you not mind waiting?
On the beach for a waitress.

5. What is your most impressive car repair skill?
I can change the cabin filter in my car. LOL! I don't repair cars anymore.

Aw... I enjoyed Middlemarch! Last of the Mohicans though? LONGEST forest descriptions ever! Who needs a whole chapter on what the trees looked like? :p

1.) What is the best movie you've ever seen?

Probably Schindler's List

2.) What is the least favorite book you've read recently?

I opened up 'Kronkite' and it started out kinda slow and by page 9 had fizzled out altogether. I kept at it because it became a finish line thing for me and it went from boredom to misery. I finally gave up about half way through after it reached agony and started turning to wretchedness. It was written by Walter Kronkite and I thought it would be about JFK and MLK and Viet Nam war and blah blah but it was not. It was about distress and melancholy and gloom. The pages even smelled. It's only redeeming feature was it's ability to help me sleep. It worked better than a couple of Lunestra with a NiQuil chaser.

3.) What is the most annoying sound in the world to you?

a dog barking all night.

4.) What bad habit do you have that you'd like to change?

I procrastinate. I do stuff I'd rather do first. Like this here - I'm writing this and not running a history on some hvac equipment like I'm supposed to.

5.) What type of shoes do you prefer to wear, and why?

Sketchers. They're comfortable and have the thick rubber souls so that if i get hit with the 480v it won't put a hole through them and while my hands are frozen to the 1000 amp source, my liquefied flesh won't leak out onto the floor.

1.) What is the best movie you've ever seen?
Gran Torino is the first one my slow brain came up with, though I know there's a couple others that I thought were as good or slightly better...I just can't think of them right now.

2.) What is the least favorite book you've read recently?
My mom gave me an ooooold romance novel that is part of a huge series that she rescued from the local library a few years ago when she worked there- they were going to throw away all the older books because the boss lady was a germophobe and thought old=germy. Anyway, my mom gave me this book and said if I liked it, she'd give me the other thirty or so by this author. I dunno what the title is, I can't remember, but it was about Spanish nobility and English pirates and I did read the whole thing, but I didn't really care for it.

3.) What is the most annoying sound in the world to you?
When people smack while they're talking- like every time they pause, and they close their mouth, when they open it again they smack or click...*shudders*

4.) What bad habit do you have that you'd like to change?
fizzling out on new projects or interests.

5.) What type of shoes do you prefer to wear, and why?

Flip-flops. They're comfy and quick to put on or kick off and they make fun weapons.

4.) What bad habit do you have that you'd like to change?
Impatience with other people (or myself)

Athletic shoes

You really have a LOT of time in your hands, Grace. :p

1.) What is the best movie you've ever seen?
There are many. The Prestige, The Illusionist, Usual Suspects, Reservoir Dogs, Django, etc.

2.) What is the least favorite book you've read recently?
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I read this back in 2001/02 and I swore I'd never touch a Harry Potter book again.

3.) What is the most annoying sound in the world to you?
A particular kind of grating noise. It makes my hair stand on end.

4.) What bad habit do you have that you'd like to change?
I can be too focussed on the issue at hand, to the extent that I lose sight of the big picture. Plus, I'm a bit impulsive when I'm stressed.

5.) What type of shoes do you prefer to wear, and why?
Boat shoes. They are so versatile that you can even pair them with jeans and a sports-coat.

1.) What is the best movie you've ever seen?

i don't know. this question makes my head hurt. : ) in the same way the "favorite song" questions do. i tend to be a bit of a documentary nerd, and those are the movies that seem to stick with me more. i really enjoyed "the botany of design" and "the cove" of more recent times.

i don't know. maybe i'll think of something favorite-ish later.

2.) What is the least favorite book you've read recently?

occasionally, i like to re-read some of the books i've previously enjoyed. last year, i re-read wuthering heights and was sort of horrified--i don't know why i liked it before.

it's dreadful.

3.) What is the most annoying sound in the world to you?

there are so many. i really hate when people talk loudly. also the random high pitched screaming one might find in any manner of places can wear on me.

oh, and smoke alarms or car alarms. or alarm clocks. basically anything loudly unpleasant. i am kind of sensitive to that.

ironically, loud music has no ill effect on me. : )

4.) What bad habit do you have that you'd like to change?

my overall rebellion of time. i can get lost in a moment, and be utterly amazed how i just lost two hours doing something entirely pleasant, or just "being".

unfortunately, i kind of have the same issue as catherder with getting up, and even more so, getting going when i need to leave. i'm fine if i can dial in to a telecon in my PJs, but i do kind of need seven alarms to make sure i get to church on time, especially since i'm on worship team. : )

5.) What type of shoes do you prefer to wear, and why?

at home, i'm always barefoot. or in cold weather, in socks.

everyone knows i love boots, but i do love a good mule or mary jane (including my fave doc 'janes). also wedges, and occasionally a comfy pair of clogs.

when i'm in my cozy yoga pants, i'm all about the athletic shoes or rkya athletic flips.

actually, there's something much worse than barking dog noise.

it's barking dog noise in duet with someone screaming:

shut up! shut up! SHUUUUUUUUUUT UUUUPPPPPPPP!!!!

having lived in the country during periods of my life, i am (too) acquainted with that flavor of racket. good gravy.

I dunno, when I pop my head out the door and say "HUSH!" my dogs hush. But I don't tell them to hush until I've verified there is no good reason for them to bark - I want them to bark if something odd shows up.

Okay, this one I will participate in.

1.) What is the best movie you've ever seen?
The Last Starfighter. Yeah it had a couple of cheesy lines but it was awesome.

2.) What is the least favorite book you've read recently?
Hmmm... I don't read books I don't like. But I'd have to say Thorarinn Gunnarsson's "Dreadnought." It was fourth in the series, but the series was only three books - the fourth was kind of a prequel set thousands of years before the other three. It was a bit disappointing.

3.) What is the most annoying sound in the world to you?
Someone complaining for (by my watch) an hour and a quarter about something someone said to her. Then complaining again the next day about the same thing for another half hour. Yeah that really happened.

4.) What bad habit do you have that you'd like to change?
My dietary habits. I eat good food but I eat more than I should and it's beginning to catch up with me.

5.) What type of shoes do you prefer to wear, and why?

Shoes with a zero-drop ratio.
Why? Where normal shoes have a thicker heel than toe, forcing a heel-toe stride, zero-drop shoes have a level contact surface which allows a natural midfoot-first stride. There was a time I couldn't wait to get home and get my shoes off. Then I found toe shoes in particular and zero-drop shoes in general. Zero-drop shoes allow the foot to act the way God designed it to work, with the ankle-heel spring cushioning the legs from the shock of stride impact. Normal shoes have to rely on a big crash pad at the ankle. Also zero-drop shoes are lighter because you don't have to carry all that padding around with you. But the reason I like them is because I once again have the agility that I used to only enjoy while barefoot. I place a high value on my agility and good balance.

Also I personally believe that a lot of hip replacements would not have been necessary if people could walk like God designed their feet/legs to walk. If you walk with the heel-first stride that modern shoes force on you then there is with every stride a shockwave going up through your leg and the impact terminates at the hip. This is true no matter how much cushioning your shoes try to provide. But if you walk with a barefoot ankle-heel spring the way you were designed to there is no shock.

Well... you did ask.
