Just curious, what do you understand "repent" to be? I'm asking because God is said, in the Bible, to have repented several times. Did God "repent" of sin?

A lot of threads in the Bible room have good intentions. But the same ones turn into a lets see who can sling the most mud and verbal insults thread. As far as calling the OP names, if you go all the way back you can see her heart has been in the right place. Stuff like that is why people have a problem with Christians.

No certainly is no reason to call the OP names.I also look at the age of someone posting and adjust what I'm saying to be more gentle.We need to be careful of what we say when things get heated no matter what we believe.

Haha, actually that seems to be something that God likes to do. Like in the book of Job, He asked satan questions over telling him whats up. I like that quote "Christianity is a thinking mans religion". God is all wise, I think He prefers to get you to think things through over just forcing it on you It is neat how He works.

No God did not sin, as His repentance was about His change of mind to destroy a certain person or place.
He had a change of mind to not issue out that punishment on them. For us the repentance is toward the sins that we walk in because they make us enmity (separated) from God.
In order to be reconciled to God we are to have faith in our Lord Jesus and follow what He said, and part of that is repentance of sins and baptism in Him as a sign of a clear conscious to accept His ways to lead our life.

Repentance is a change of mind about anything.
It does not have to be necessarily sins as I previously stated, as it refers to what the issue the repentance is meant for. As I posted previously for God it was do to the destroying of a person or place that He changed His mind (repented) of and decided not to destroy them.
In the case of us it is of unbelief and sins that we repent of, and the Lord makes it clear that if this repentance is not done we will still perish in our sins.
