So recently God jas been giving me this compassion for gay people. He has been leading me to videos, showing me how gay people can feel hopless and lonley in the church. I wanna start a civil discussion on how we can encourage our gay brothers and sisters. I also wanna talk about respectful and kind ways of reaching out to gay people who haven't found Christ.

RULES:

1) this is not an anti-gay thread. We all know same sex sex is a sin. This is an encouragement/loving discussion on hpw we can better serve gay people so no being mean.

2) not only should we respect gay people on here but also each other because this IS a sensitive topic and I think it needs to be handled with care.

I wanna say thank you in advance for taking part in this. :)

if you have to, maybe pray before posting. :)

Thanks!

I think we should love everyone. I think it's the acts that are a sin, not being gay.

We were all lost in one way or another before we met the Most High, just because they are lost in a different way does not mean we should mistreat them IMO.

You want a civil and encouring discussion? im afraid that might be hard from all the mean and judgemental comments on the gays I have seen here i am starting to think some christians enjoy criticizing the gays. Personally i dont judge a person from what they have done or what sin they struggle with its not my place to judge only to love and that whole righteous judging excuse is bologna

It's really this simple. Every man, woman, and child that you see is created in His image. EVERY ONE. How then are we to call another child of God a heathen or worse. Homosexual acts are sinful. Heterosexual sex before marriage is sinful. Masturbation, pornography...and of course if we are to follow Christ and the Sermon on the Mount...even looking at another with lust in your eyes is every bit as sinful as adultery. Anger against your brother is as bad as murder.

Only when we come to the realization that, at heart, we are all adulterous murderers can we have the compassion towards another needed to love them enough to bring them to Christ. If someone's soul is to be saved (including mine) it will be done by Christ. Bring someone, regardless of their sin or disposition, to Christ and let him do the work. Most importantly, do not judge their relationship with Christ and how it is expressed. We will all see the same judge at the appointed time. We are not qualified to make those determinations.

Love everyone, even those that hate you, and pray that the love of Christ you show them will bring them to Him. Period. No one will trust you with their soul unless they have a heartfelt belief that you love them unconditionally.

No talking about them only talking to them. Tell them they must be saved or they like all other sinners will perish in the lake of fire for all of eternity.

Like fornicators when they get truly born again they will cease from their fornications.

OK so then HOW do we love them? HOW do we approach them? We can't be like "Well you'll never get married and you'll be alone forever so good luck!" That's an awful idea! So what do we do then?

Just talk to them like you would to any other stranger.

Be their friend....listen to them...become a safe place for them...position yourself so that they would miss you if you were gone.... and be sensitive to the Holy Spirit spirit leading you as HE creates opportunity for you to speak truth in love.

But telling them that would turn them off to the Gospel. Do you see my problem here? Damned if I do and damned if I don't (pardon the expression).

so then where would a person start if a gay person has bad ideas/experiences with Christians in the past?

That sounds so manipulative. Like you're only being their friend to proselytize. I don't think people would like that.

Be different...ask questions about their experience. Don't be defensive. Validate them as human beings. Show them that their experiences are significant to you. Don't try to be right. Let them speak and have their say without judging.....draw them out by being authentically interested in them.

I think this is a wonderful premise for a thread btw

Now. In my experience with he lgbt community (which is a lot of experience). The best way to treat them is to not bring it up. They tell you they're lgb (t is a different story) don't just jump to the "oh….…" plus inadvertent dirty looks while you try and come up with a bible verse. Those days are over. You just move on from the topic unless they ask.

About the person having bad experiences with the church…the only way to help them from that point (which most lgbt people have bad experiences with the church) is through actions. Show them who we really are. Show them true love. Act as Jesus would.

The truth is....being anyone's friend is about meeting needs. People who are hurting inside have a need to be loved........so if you feel compelled to be someones friend, whether they be gay straight or indifferent, just love them by making them important to you. Not because you want to change them....but because you want the best for them. The Holy Spirit will do the rest and God will bless you in the process.

We are commanded to be witnesses. We are not responsible for the message being believed or not. If they are offended by Jesus saved me and He wants to save you too then they have a problem.

All men are sinners and must be saved. There are no special provisions made for special classes of sinners. Salvation is all about Jesus. Sodomy is all about the sodomite.
