Hi guys.

This is weird and has been going on for a few months now. Whenever I visit Christian Chat or other Christian content on the Net (eg. GodTube, Christian videos on YouTube etc. Creation Ministries International, Answers In Genesis) via my phone, my internet history recognises all of these as adult websites. And anyone who knows me knows that I visit CC very regularly (this results in a lot of notifications about adult websites). What's going on here? The websites I visit are anything but inappropriate. I don't have this issue on my laptop computer. Is there anyone out there who has encountered this same thing or something similar? Or just has some ideas why this may be?

dj may be on to something here. A few months ago, Shour and I had a really nerdy conversation about maintenance of french horns and other brass instruments. I got a lot of french horn and music repair ads on my facebook sidebar for a while.

That would be my guess too. This site has a ton of adult keywords, and your phone is probably scanning text rather than images.

Makes sense, but that doesn't explain the notifications for Answers in Genesis or Creation Ministries, etc. Weird.

Yes, but by that logic most websites would be labelled 'adult websites'. This makes no sense.

it has to do with key words and combination of key words. I know of a website that gets blocked for "gambling" but the site itself has nothing to do with gambling.

Since I've been on here I get tons of junk emails for dating "sexy singles" etc. I'm not much on understanding computers but it seems certain words on sites trigger cookies to be sent, or whatever. I've wondered if the word "chat" does that too.

So that's why I've not seen any of this junk. Firefox (or a lightweight Mozilla alternative, i.e. Iceweasel) is default for most Linux distros and I never bother getting anything else.

Firefox rox! :D

yet I don't get emails as sassylady does. and I use chrome.

email spam comes from sites and such people have signed up for. (thus the need for throw away emails)
adsense ads (and other banner ads) are sent via stored cookies. but I see 0 ad's cause I use ad block plus. (if I had to give up ABP id quit the net seriously)
