Yeah, they told me the same thing. I was a bit dubious about keeping an australian shepherd inactive. He wasn't even drowsy when I picked him up that afternoon. Which is a pity because I was looking forward to at least ONE trip without him bouncing all over the van.
Oh, I can imagine an Australian Shepherd being that way! Neutering is a little less invasive so I wonder if Lily will be a little more chill from the meds. She's a Border Collie/St. Bernard mix. She's got the running style of a BC for sure, coloring of a Bernard, more the build of a BC. But her energy is a mix between the two. So, this could be interesting.

Aussies are so pretty, what color is yours?

it does sound like *quite a day*

i've been to awkward funerals. one of the things that i tend to pay attention to (because i can't help not doing it) is noticing all the family drama at a funeral. like people who walk past and sit far away from the person they keep glancing at, and the tension. i'm weirdly sensitive about energy like that, and i can almost feel someone giving the "cold treatment" to someone at 50 paces.

also, blind dates can be a lot of fun. relax and have a good time. don't put so much pressure on yourself, because it's not that big of a deal. you might meet a cool friend, a weirdo or someone amazing. but there is fun in the adventure. and getting to know someone new. : )

p.s. you need to find a prof who won't make you "show your work". ; p

Ooooor perhaps I figured out a way to take finite math instead of calculus :p But I can't get into a finite math course now so I picked up an online microeconomics course that starts after spring break. So I'll have taken both macro and micro this semester, which works out because it interests me enough that I have actually been listening to free online microeconomics lectures from MIT this past week because I'm nerdy and decided that I always want to be a learner and listening to free online university lectures while working is a good way to do that.

Also, it's funny, but even though my outlook on this blind date is exactly what you said, for whatever reason I'm a naturally nervous person whenever it comes to things like this. Public-speaking, playing piano, dates, asking girls out on dates--internally I'm a mess no matter how much I try to talk myself down, so I will be a nervous wreck going into it most likely, but I'm really comfortable carrying on a conversation with someone new. I think I'm good at helping someone feel comfortable talking to me, so it shouldn't be awkward at all as long as I can keep asking good but chill questions. It's just a matter of actually getting to the point of conversation and then my nerves will taper off.

Standard black and white. The shelter called him an australian shepherd "mix" which means they know he's part aussie but have no idea what else. His head looks like a cross between an aussie and a bull terrier. His body looks like a cross between an aussie, a collie and a labrador... did that make sense? His personality is happy to be here, wherever here happens to be.

One thing about that dog, he knew how to get my attention. I asked if we could take him out to the yard so I could see what he was like away from all the other barking dogs. He went all around the yard, sniffing, peeing on everything of course, while the shelter worker kept saying "Okay Dan, let's go... That's nice Dan... Come on Dan, it's cold out here." After I thought he had explored enough I said "Dan, come on." He made a beeline for me.

Yup, that's the dog I want.

I took my dogs out on a walk today.

We went to the local arboretum (which is why when I drove today I had two animals in the car). It was Mocha's first real big walk since his surgery in July for his herniated disc. He had troubles getting in the car, and he did lose his balance once, but there are places in that park that I almost trip, and the ground where he was was kind of tricky. He did really well, though, and he had a LOT of fun. He was a happy old man when he came home.

And of course Spice, she's always happy to go on walks and LOVED it, and she wore herself out pretty good, too. She fell asleep while I was driving (no I was not looking at my dog, my sister who was teaching me how to drive WHO IS OF LEGAL AGE told me she was fast asleep.) and when she got home she was hungry. lol She's always hungry.

Lil has started driving and that is so awesome!!!! :D Next time, try playing the guitar while you drive. That'll be super awesome!!! :D

I think I should never be around kids...

Yesterday evening, I was driving back from work with a very close friend of mine whose office is near mine. She being married ended up talking about kids. While she went on how about her husband was fretting over having kids, I was already thinking about the tricks and pranks I would be teaching him/her/them..

Someone tell me I am normal, please? :p

wait. Lil you are just now learning to drive? you don't have a license?

wat?
Yes, unfortunately, my mom wasn't willing to teach me before she passed (was very stressful for her), my dad is a very busy person, and I just never really got that opportunity to REALLY learn how to drive. I only started learning driving around 16 and a half. I've gotten like...6 hours in the past year and a half. I also wasn't very proactive about it, because I started getting a bit shy about it. Thinking I was going to harm something or myself.

I don't mind driving and when I do drive I've never done badly. I just get so daggone nervous about it at times. I probably overthink it just like everything else I do. >.< I know I'll be fine eventually. Just right now it feels a tad bit weird.

Oh and in spite of not having a lot of experience, I plan on getting my license this year. Hopefully by the fall.

I have read a book before while driving... just to see if I could. It was a four lane highway, fairly straight, light traffic. I haven't done it since, but I just had to see if I could do it. And I could.

And Roh_Chris you remind me of a few cartoons actually...

It slowly dawns on us that our parents knew exactly what they were doing...

Children are genetic experiments, right? They're just experimenting responsibly. Yeah...

If you wake up in the middle of the night and see yellow eyes glinting outside the window, are you being stalked by a puma, catamount, mountain lion, cougar or jaguar? Ha, trick question! In North America they're all names for the same species, puma concolor. Well, sleep tight!

A few more:

"I bet my future kids will be reading this someday. DEAR FUTURE KIDS: How did you get internet in the cellar?"

Nerd parents are even worse.

(Her daughter is named Help I'm Trapped In A Driver's License Factory.)

Hey a server hostname goes in a lot of remote config files! If we want to change the child's name it's just a quick trip to the courthouse.

Of course if you don't have kids...

But, but... You're the one who read a book while driving! Think of the children!
Weren't no kids on the road. I was driving on the levee. If a kid had been on the levee a cop would have stopped and asked what the kid was doing way out there.

But yeah, I probably shouldn't have kids either. The temptation to abuse the position of parent would be too much.

Calvin: "Dad how do parents make babies?"
Dad: "Well most parents just buy the kit from Sears and follow the assembly instructions."
Calvin: "I came from SEARS?!"
Dad: "No, YOU were a blue light special at K-Mart. Almost as good and a whole lot cheaper."

I left my hair down when I went to bed last night, which is not a thing I do, because my hair tries to kill me in my sleep if I leave it down. So I spent a fair portion of last night trying to get my hair to stop wrapping around my neck. I think I'm lucky to be alive today.

My sister started a Facebook page a couple years ago...some silly thing meant just for sharing stupid pictures and what she thinks are funny status updates. She made me an admin on the page because she figured I'd have something funny to offer. Turned out, nope, I didn't, because what she was actually posting were a lot of pics with bad words and other things that were just not really particularly funny. The page pretty much died off, until a few days ago, when I started getting all these notifications that people were "liking" it. Since I was reminded that I'm an admin there (I totally forgot all about it until that first notification), I decided I don't want to have anything to do with the page anymore. Buuuut, I can't figure out how to un-admin myself. So I'm thinking, how awesome would it be to just Jesus juke the whole page? I wonder how fast my sister would take notice and remove me?

Blind date is set for Saturday evening. Let the perpetual sweaty palms begin! :p
