I've been told my whole life that the bible says something along the lines of 'thou shalt not curse' and i possibly vaguely remember reading said verse, but where is it in the bible? Google can't seem to find it and I have no interest in reading the whole bible to find a single verse. So.... Anyone know of such a verse that can post it for me?

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rom 12:14

Or are you referring to the "bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you." verse? Luke 6:28

Or am I off the mark?

Idk to be honest. All i know is, according to my family, there is a verse that says do not curse. I'm curious as to the meaning of curse as in is it saying literal cursing like sorcery or is it saying curse as in cussing? or both? This is mostly to put my mind at ease since i cannot find this verse even though i've been trying for years. it's like when you can't remember the name of someone you'rre talking about and it bugs you until you do lol. I just need to find it so i can say it really does exist and i'm not imagining me reading it.

Take it as a sign to break the Bible out and start reading until you come across it ;)

I don't read the bible anymore. I hate reading books and can't concentrate on them. Also I tend to feel like some of the bible has false information on how to live.

you can try listening to the Bible so you don't have to read it.

and the Bible never gives false information. It may go against your personal beliefs on how to live, but usually when that happens we should examine why our response is contrary to what the Bible says and investigate why the Biblw says to live a certain way.

Do you have any examples of why the Bible is wrong in your eyes?

Heres a few you might want to look up communication, communications, coversatiion, speaking, etc, even the tongue theres alot on that

James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

Psalm 109:17
As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him.

Psalm 109:18
As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.

1Peter 3:9
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

1 Peter 3:10
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

For example, communications here Ephes 4:29, Col 8:3, 1Cr 15:23

I've tried the audio bibles, I find them very boring lol. As for specific verses that I disagree with? Not really. It's been to long since I've read it to remember verses I don't agree with.

Yeah, there may be some verses you don't agree with, but always know that God had a perfect and Holy reason for what ever it was.

We have to trust that God never makes a mistake and can see both sides of a situation, sometimes He allows certain "traumatic" events to happen because if He hadn't, it would have been much worse.

He makes a lot of decisions to save us from ourselves, too...like Noah and the Flood.

Yes, all those people died, everyone in fact besides Noah and his family, but what if God continued to allow the evil of that day continue to today. That's much scarier.

I have a hard time believing God wrote the bible and that it's not just a bunch of opinions written down by various people. I do believe in Jesus, I just don't believe the bible is as god inspired as we are lead to believe.

Well, God wouldn't be God if He allowed lies in His book. The very fact many atheists have tried to prove the Bible wrong or inaccurate and have failed each time lends to the fact that the Bible MUST be divinely inspired.

I can't accept that the Bible is full of half truths--half inspired by God and half not. That is not congruent with God's Holy and Perfect nature

Leviticus 19:14 “‘Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the Lord.

Leviticus 20:9 “‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death. Because they have cursed their father or mother, their blood will be on their own head.

Leviticus 24:15 Say to the Israelites: ‘Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible;

But I believe that your parents are referring to not to use profanity, but cursing is hoping for the worst, like for an instance, the phrase, " I hope you go to hell", that is hoping for the worst and that is cursing.

I'm not a big fan of audio books in general (I much prefer reading) but there's a brilliant audio Bible called "The Bible Experience". You really should check it out. It has some big name actors doing the voices too and they're passionate readers. People like Samuel L. Jackson, Denzel Washington (and his wife), Cuba Gooding Junior, Forest Whitaker and others. It's great!

Fortunately, reality is not defined by our belief systems.
