train collection and 300+ hotwheels
When I was a kid I was a toy snob. The Hot Wheels were die-cast metal and they just... just... rolled better. They stayed on my bed, lined up against the wall. The Matchbox cars I left out in the yard and they eventually got hit by a lawnmower or carried off by the dog. Even as a small child I knew quality when I saw it.

i used 2 have a massive Elvis Presley memorabilia collection.. tapes, plates, clocks, movies..... :)
This is me as you had, but even worse, in that I had just about anything imaginable of his... even the gold albums that hardly exist anymore, enough posters to plater the entire inside of my house walls, trading cards, ect...

When I realized this was a form of idolatry, I destroyed it all as opposed to selling it and contributing to someone else's idolatry.

My treasure is in shamayim (heaven) not here on this earth.

Original QUOTE seoulsearch

JesusLives--I would love to see your fabric stash!! Surprisingly, I have all these patterns and books... but try to only buy enough fabric for 2-3 projects at a time so I don't get overwhelmed. What do you like to sew? I know quilts are the hot thing nowadays but I've always been into garment sewing.

Original QUOTE JesusLives

Love my fabric stash and quilting is one of the things I like to do. Love to make pot holders, mug rugs, sew clothing, I made back cushions for my lawn chairs bought tufted bottom cushions but I made the back cushions because I found a piece of indoor/outdoor material at a thrift store for $1.00 and could not pass it up.

Necessity is the mother of invention so I will sew things that the mood hits me and I then become like a writer and just shut the world out and sew put on head phones for music and just sew makes a great diet plan as I get into a project and don't stop and eating is a bother. I need to sew more, but I am a mood sewer and have to be in the mood to make whatever it is I am making...if not then no sewing....

i really don't collect anything. except memories, and other nostalgic and sentimental whimsy.

well, i should say, i don't collect things that don't have utilitarian value. i do have a great fondness for pens, and as a calligrapher, i have a number of those pens as well as pretty, bright and colorful fine point pens, notes, and seals.

the other thing i "kind of" collect is weapons.

i have two bows, and several non-redundant handguns, my first hunting rifle and two shotguns. however, i have decided to gift my sister and her husband with a few of these when they visit next year.

at one time i collected all the concert passes, tickets, and memorabilia from the many concerts, plays, notable events and shows i've attended (both via work and just recreational) as well as some kind of shirt or item from the places i visited, vacationed or traveled to. but after awhile these collections seem to just grow so large that i felt like they took up too much space, and i grew weary of hauling from one place to the next. seemed silly.

plus, i felt like i was keeping them just so that i could show someone. and i'm not that kind of person. so i just got rid of it.

plus, i am not a fan of dusting things.

I have gotten up and moved across the country a few too many times to collect anything, I did have a good number of christian books, but i got rid of at least half of them, the last time I moved.

As I am settling, finally in an area(Lord willing) I haven't really desired to collect much of anything, so I am no good for this thread i suppose - muhahhaahah but it's almost 3 am and I can't sleep so

I downsized in a huge way a few years ago when moving into a tiny house, and I loved it so much that I've kept up as minimal a lifestyle as I can. If I had to pick a "collection" though it would be books. We have a room gloriously full of them. I was a little dismayed when the Kindle got popular. I like to sit in the midst of my books like Scrooge McDuck in his money pit.

I hear ya on being a little dismayed with the kindle - books though are so heavy - but in the Kindle, yes I know you can highlight and write, but it just isn't the same - I still do a combination of book and kindle, I like getting bibles with huge margins too!

This made me smile.

I mean, what's that old saying? "The pen is mightier than the sword."

And just in case her collection of pens is not mighty enough to convince people, Gypsy has a an entire box of bows, rifles, and handguns as a backup.

Duly noted, Gyps! I knew I was missing something. And here I thought I could win people over with just my posts alone.

In fact, instead of carrying around my pens in a plain old ho-hum pencil box, I'm thinking I could customize a gun holster on one hip (filled with writing utensils) which, of course, leaves room on my other hip to carry an actual gun...

Me likey.

I "inherited" a huge collection of stamps from my grandpa and my mom. I think there must be close to 500 stamps from different countries and different time-periods. I haven't organized them because I don't have the time to do that.

I have a collection of shoes because I love shoes. I recently gave away 4 pairs so I am now down to 10 pairs of shoes.
