For all of you out there who wear pants, do me a big favor. Look down at how they fit around your body, and pay special attention to the zipper. If you would, say a prayer of thanks for the person who installed said zipper.

Sewing a zipper into a pair of pants is NO small task.

That's what I've been attempting for the last 2 hours.

My siblings and I are going to buy my parents a cruise trip as their Christmas present to take place next year. We know they'll probably object, it's a lot of money...but they do so much and literally RARELY have a true break. Maybe one day every 6 months or so. Not even kidding. My dad is a pastor and church planter, and even when he's not "working", he is; People will call, he gives people rides, he works on promotional stuff, he's also the worship leader so he gets the songs ready, he also is in training to learn things from the Illinois Association of...something church related, I don't remember. My mom owns her own transcription business and works 45 hours or more a week, and when she's not, she's a pastor's wife so she is also helping with church stuff. They both lead small groups throughout the week.

Even when they come to visit with family they have to deal with stuff from back home and/or my mom brings her work with her.

They've also helped all of us kids move: My sister twice, my brother twice, me 4 times. They do SO much. We want them to have a real vacation. They haven't had one in almost 2 years.

I'm really excited. Each of us kids is going to write them a note of appreciation and then at the end, give them the cruise information/tickets. I know I'm going to cry just writing the note.

My friend and I were at a shopping center the other day. We debated whether we should start belting out "Joy to the World." I would start, then she would join in with "let Earth receive her king!" and then we would just stop and continue to go about our shopping, leaving everyone to wonder for a few seconds who would be the next to join in the flash mob.

we chickened out.

^^^ I'm thinking of the Simpson's episode where Smithers envisions Mr. Burns jumping out of a cake.

*BLEH!!!* I am thoroughly traumatized now.

"RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!" on a certain Herder of Cats.

Don't worry, Cat, I'm not your type. I'm too busy shouting at people about what they owe me because it's "my way or the highway". I then post EVERYTHING on social media, all while chain smoking, of course.

(But I'm actually a really sweet person... Sometimes between 11 and 11:30... on Tuesdays... or was that Thursday.)

wait....is this 11-11:30 a.m. or p.m.? This is important. Could be a deal-breaker.

Exactly. That's why I'm not specifying.

(Gotta keep up some of the mystery.)

A poor lost soul who is brave enough just has to find out for himself! Oh, and don't try to take away my cigarettes.

They make me just a little more docile. Like a rabid alligator.

Kim! Lol, you poor lady. Zippers are indeed evil. It might help to take apart an old pair of pants that has the kind of zipper you're trying to install... that's how I learn, anyway. I take EVERYTHING apart.

Pop, this is where you are a sheer genius, whereas I am a bit hopeless. Would you believe... I have a pair I tried to make last year right here in front of me and it's still taken me hours to figure out all the mechanics? ("You fold the left flap in, you fold the right flap out... you rip the left flap out... and you SHAKE IT ALL ABOUT. And I do mean shake it. Violently. And now I'm eating peanut butter crackers as a break.) I wish you were here!!! I bet you could sew this doggone zipper with your eyes closed. I now have it all done except for the top stitching. On my next day off, I am going to try to make myself a step-by-step sample of how it's done for future reference.

And for anyone who doesn't know I'm kidding, I have never even taken a puff on a cigarette. Though about now... due to the stress, I might consider smoking AND drinking. To think this is all because of a hobby... something I do for "fun."

I never started on cigs or alcohol not for any self-righteous reason... But because I figured knowing me, I'd become addicted right away. So, I just didn't start.

I just talk about chain smoking because every once in a while I like to get Catherder's goat. :)

Somehow, washing the dishes and starting a load of laundry (which can't be done at the same time or else the universe will self destruct) turned into moving a lot of junk into boxes and then to the basement.

I wonder why there's a helicopter zooming around in here? Huh.

Considering picking up a second job for some supplemental income and so I can pay off certain debts faster.

Looking at just weekend shifts so I can still have evenings free to relax.

Nothing makes it more realistic when you have a life-size voodoo doll as a pincushion.

I mean, model.

Besides. You have to make sure he'll actually be able to fit into them. :D

Oncefallen, if I could always stay as slim and fit as you are, my post would read, "Enjoying A homemade cheesecake..." (as in, the whole cake.) Now THAT would be a good time to be single. I wouldn't have to share it with anyone.

Sometimes life is so unfair!

I have a sweet tooth that won't quit so as much as I enjoy baking I don't do it often because I can tend to enjoy the fruits of my labor a bit too much. :)

As for the fruitcake Seoul, you're outta luck from this baker. I'm not that much of a fan of fruitcake so I've never even attempted one.
