It is good to be back from Las Vegas, NV and in our home in Clearwater, FL. Our wedding vows took place Thanksgiving Day in the Hilton and afterwards we enjoyed our first married meal together in the dining room. I intend to pray each day to God to be the best loving and faithful husband possible. God has trusted in my care the most beautiful and loving woman that is now my wife and I intend to do my best to be a loving and attentive husband for the rest of my days.
Sort of a "mid day confession." Sometimes I honestly wonder what I'm ever going to do without my parents. I have no boyfriend/husband, no friends that live close by, no pets even. I just imagine me, all alone in an apartment somewhere. Doesn't sound pleasant, not at all.
It can be a scary prospect living away from the support of parents, especially if the parents are loving. It may not sound pleasant at this time but it is necessary in order to experience maturity as an adult and to strengthen your personal relationship with the Lord.
For myself, through the years, I have spent years apart from the security net of my family and I feel that I have become a much stronger and independent individual for having done so.
One day, perhaps soon, the Lord will provide that special someone to share your life with if this is what you desire and pray for. Having mom and dad around and underfoot is something but having a loving spouse is an entirely different thing altogether.
For the record, and in my humble opinion, you seem like a mature, well-adjusted individual who will do well in the world if you can find the courage and fortitude deep inside of you to venture out of your comfort zone. This will require prayer also and I wish you well.

Tourist, I'm in the same place. I don't seem to be ready in my heart to give up smoking. I believe God will make a way when I cease my dependence on nicotine. But I can't seem to get to that point.
Please don't give up hope. Three months ago I was smoking 40 - 50 a day and this has been reduced to 4 - 5 a day. God has provided me with a loving woman who is now my wife and she is my support system.
I have smoked for 45 years but now I want to live as long as possible to be with my wife. I have prayed for God to remove this addition from my life and to mitigate any damage that I may have caused from years of abusing my body which is suppose to be a temple to the Lord.
I have said a prayer for you to overcome this evil habit. I suffer greatly from pangs of withdrawal but pray that perhaps this will help me focus on what I need to do to extend my life as long as God is willing.

Fasting helps with quitting smoking. Also, coffee and cigarettes are friends. I'd abstain of coffee too for a while. Both made it much easier for me.
Now what you have said is quite true. Giving up caffeine would be even a greater struggle than giving up nicotine. I am happy that you were able to succeed where others have miserably failed. It gives one hope. Thank you for your response.
I was failing for a good while before I succeeded so dont be discouraged! You will quit by the power of God.
Btw, they actually cause worse level of addiction than heroin. They are supposed to help one be less nervous, but they actually trick people into becoming more nervous because they are also stimulating. False comfort, just makes the body ask for more.

Why I hate cigarettes so much....... As a 12 year old going to the hospital to visit my dad who was so sick with cancer and seeing him cry knowing he was going to leave me an orphan and wanting my sister Linda and I to get along. Linda was 24 and I was 12. I really didn't know my sister as she grew up with her mother and wanted nothing to do with me. As I continued to visit Dad I got to watch spots come up all over his body from the cancer spreading everywhere and on August 31, 1967 we got the phone call that Dad had died. I was numb and could not cry at first. I hate death and it was no fun being an orphan at the age of 12 or at any age really. If kids had a say in the matter we (I) would have begged my Dad to stop smoking if I had know it was going to kill him.....I didn't know, but I had to live with the consequences of his actions alone. It is scary knowing there is no one there that loves you like your parents do/did.....feeling alone really alone....such an empty feeling.
I watched my Uncle Bob gasping for breath as he would take puffs off of a nebulizer machine filled with high proof alcohol so that he could breathe easier for short periods of time. My Aunt and Uncle had to move to a bedroom downstairs in their house because he could no longer breathe right to walk up the stairs any more and when he finally died it was because one of his lungs burst and it killed him...... Yes, I hate cigarettes and smoking because it takes away those that I love.
And now my husband is desperately trying to stop smoking and I pray, watch and wait in fear that cigarettes may yet again claim the life of someone I love with all my heart.....Oh God, Please give him the strength to hang onto You and help tourist my love to quit this horrible habit and any other soul that should read this confession that You would also help them and give them the strength to hang onto You for the victory that You are so willing to give to all who will come to You and rest in Your arms of love and everlasting peace. You are able to save them all and nothing is impossible for You my Father and my God..... Oh please release them and save them and help them to say NO and throw the cigarettes away and live.. Live lives for You and be a witness and a testimony to the power of Your love and strength to save from all habits and addictions. Save us please Father I just can't go back to living all alone now that I have found love again....... I pray in Jesus Name Amen.

So we Mr. & Mrs. Tourist walk into the DMV today to get our drivers license changed, Mr. Tourist for the address and Mrs. Tourist for the name change.... Don't ask me why....but Mr. Tourist needs his birth certificate to change the address??? He was born in Germany to military family and has lost the certificate....first problem....
Then Mrs. Tourist is asked have you changed your name on your social security card? Well not yet Blond replies.....Well first you must do that then bring in a birth certificate, then your marriage license to prove your name was Roy, then your marriage certificate for this marriage and we will be happy to change your name. Really?
And people say Blonds have problems and are ditzy??? What should we say about the DMV????? All Mr. & Mrs. Tourist wanted to do was get updated info on their drivers license we didn't know it was FBI security clearance type stuff..... and we have illegal aliens living and working and driving in the US??? How can this be that residents can't get name and address updates???? I dunno..... I'm just a Blond.... I would laugh if I weren't so frustrated....
Well off to search for a social security office, and a former marriage license or divorce papers which ever show up first to prove that I was a Roy, forget the fact that my current license says Roy on it.... Maybe they don't know how to read at the DMV....I dunno.... Looks like I will be Roy a little longer than I wanted to be....as if 42 years 4 months wasn't enough time.....
All I want to do is just get an updated drivers license.......huh.....ugh.....Help....

I've been on mood stabilizers for the past 2 years. wondering if I should try give them up. seems daunting.

You sound like you live in my country, lol...
Some have been asked to bring papers proving they are still alive in certain situations... I'm kidding you not! We even have an abbreviation "YMOP" meaning You Miss One Paper going among the folks, thats for when you bring a pile of documents but they still find you lack that one crucially important paper.
If they were given to you by a doctor I would say not until you are released from him....if not by a doctor then maybe yes. I don't know your situation, but having been severely depressed once in my life and on prescribed drugs for 18 months to help my mood be stabilized my above recommendation would stand.

Oooh, the DMV drives me crazy! I had that same problem when I tried to get my name changed- they wanted my social security card changed, and they wanted my marriage license, and they wanted a utility bill or bank statement with my name on and my home address.
Well...first problem, getting the SS card changed to my new name. Second problem, no utilities were in my name, we didn't even use a bank account, and all our mail went to our PO box anyway.
And so...it took me six years to get my name changed on my license (ok, well, it shouldn't have taken that long even with all the hoops I had to jump through, but still...)
