And then you have people who will insert themselves into a conflict pretending to be objective and fair, telling everyone that they're all idiots and that they need to grow up. I've seen it on Facebook, I've seen it here. How does that help the situation at all? Are you really acting in a way that is reflective of the maturity that everyone else is supposed to emulate?
Old song quote:
Often there is misunderstanding
Out of everything I do
I go to friends for consolation
I find them complaining too
Many nights I've tossed in pain
Wondering what the day will bring
But I say to my soul, take courage
The Lord will make a way somehow

Sometimes I feel guilty for having a wonderful life and being happy and taken care of. I know a lot of other people who aren't very happy in their lives, or are struggling with various problems. I want to be that happy Christian who spreads joy and shows the light of Christ, but I know that a couple of people in my life struggle with a bit of resentment over the seeming easiness of my own life.

Being happy kind of makes it seem like I'm bragging or something.

By the way, this was in response to earlier posts about people not seeing much joy in Christians these days.

(It wasn't... bragging... or anything.)

Not bragging. Concern for other's feelings is definitely not bragging. :)

i also feel like a lot of folks seem to be under the impression they are not in control of their moods, attitudes and choices. like this is something that happens TO them, and not something they have control over.
Well once you believe the evolution story then we can't be in control anymore, we're just subject to the chemical reactions going on inside of us and that's what causes moods and feelings and all those other things. It's so much easier to give in than fight and now in secular culture people are told that they cannot or should not fight the bad moods. Or if it's so serious it really affects their life, there's someone working on a pill for that.

Mission: bake two apple pies and dye my hair before midnight...or else I turn back into a pumpkin.

Wait...what?

Everyone at work is losing their minds.
I think my prayers are working, because that's how I used to be right before I began trusting in God.

So, what's the big deal with Thanksgiving again? I think if there was a Thanksgiving Grinch, I'd be it.

Know you've had a rough year so I'm not picking on you, but wouldn't being the Thanksgiving Grinch defeat the whole point of Thanks Giving?

Now extra hugs for Lil and may God show you some things you have to be thankful for this year.

I'd heard we were not going to have dinner with the local family (we as in me, my dad, sister, brother and his wife). I thought perhaps people had other plans, but i didn't know the reason for sure. I just read a post my dad put on FB saying that we were told there would be 'too many people' and that's why we were not invited. This is my dads sister, her kids and their kids. Such a Christian way to act. My dad and I have done Thanksgiving every year for six years with these people. My dad longer, since he was here before i was. My brother and his wife were apart of it last year, being new to the state. And my sister just came up recently, so it's her first time. And this is the welcome she gets. And people wonder why i think family means so little.

I actually had an early thanksgiving today. My dad's girlfriend is having surgery Friday. So she can't really eat anything tomorrow. She also needed help getting her tree up. So my sister, my dad and I went over and visited and helped. It was nice, actually. Had a good time. Tomorrow I'll be doing more working than celebrating, so once again. It was nice.

Well my family's table is shrinking so you'd probably be welcome to join them. Just might have to play a game of catch the turkey, talk about books, and endure the short lived debate on whether football or pumpkin chunking is the more appropriate TV program to watch.

Seriously though, that's a crappy way to find out you were uninvited for thanksgiving. Especially when it sounds like you weren't consulted to see if you were willing to come up with any alternatives for helping manage a larger group. You don't like hugs so…friendly pokes.
