Sounds like a kid of impeccable taste! What grade was he? Going back to day one of my freshman year of high school, I've worn bow ties exclusively. It was Catholic high school where the guys had to wear ties. I made mine bow ties, the tie-it-yourself kind, naturally. I very quickly got it down to a science, tying them into a nice, even bow with a good, tight knot. I also looked for any half-of-an-excuse to wear a suit as well. Joined the chess team and the debate club. On the frequent days we hosted or traveled to another school for a tournament or debate it was a "jacket required" day. Also, when we had Mass or assembly days, jacket required. Once the cooler weather kicked in, wearing a suit every day along with my bow ties was easy. My mother was an attorney, a very prim and proper type, always in very conservative business suits (the skirted type, never pants suits), so she couldn't be more thrilled that her son wanted to be so buttoned-up and bow tied. When we went school clothes shopping right before my freshman year, among the clothes purchased were three suits (three-piece suits, the vested kind) in navy blue, black, and dark grey, several dress shirts, most of them white but a couple in pastels like powder blue, and several bow ties. So very quickly in high school I established my "signature look." I was "the kid in the bow tie," and it quickly extended beyond school. That first Sunday morning of the school year, my mother was waiting on my younger sister and me to come downstairs to go to church. Here I come down the stairs in my navy blue three-piece suit, starched white shirt, and navy blue bow tie. My mother was already in a suit, and she made my sister go back upstairs and put on something a little dressier, which slightly annoyed my sister! After church, naturally, she had to show me off a bit, so we dropped by to visit my aunt and cousins. A lot of "Ooo!" and "Ahh!" over how I looked. That was just the beginning. To this day, I'm in three-piece suits and bow ties daily, including Sundays. I'm in banking, so it kind of fits, although I'm still at least a bit overdressed compared to most with whom I come into contact daily.
