You are perfectly safe to read NIV, New King James and all the others. Read what you are most comfortable with.
Wrong!

The spirit of antichrist is behind the NIV and other modern translations which are simply Satanic counterfeits.

Therefore, If a Christian reads the NIV and the modern translations for any period of time and continues to use them, well the growth, power, and spiritual maturity of that Christian will be stunted.

If a Christian is going to grow and mature properly in his spiritual life, then that Christian needs God's pure and perfect words.

heartbrokenandhoping, I am sorry to see your thread being derailed already by the King James Only Cult Member chosenbyhim.

This King James Only cult somehow seem to think that the 1611 English Bible commissioned by King James is the perfect final version of the Bible. Of course this is ludicris and thankfully most people can see how crazy and ridiculous this claim is. The Cult cherry pick a couple of verses to "prove" this, but of course I could cherry pick a few verses to claim the moon is made of cheese or whatever.

You are perfectly safe to read NIV, New King James and all the others. Read what you are most comfortable with.
why even argue? Lets be honest here, this site is a den of KJV onlyists, law abiders and sabbath onlyists, waiting to attack people lol. Sure my main translation is KJV and I love it, but I do have other ones that I use for youth meetings etc..... lets be honest, God is smarter than a translation and if He didn't like one He wouldn't speak to believers through it...

Did you expect anything less? Chosenbyhim smelt the blood of a new member and jumped straight in with the cults recruitment propaganda to get them on board and join the King James Only Cult. Its confusing enough for new Christians without the rubbish over bible versions.

I will also point out there is nothing wrong with the King James Bible, its a great Bible, I have one, but there is nothing magic or special about it.

The spirit of antichrist is behind the NIV and other modern translations which are simply Satanic counterfeits.
And your reason for making this absurd claim is what, exactly?

Therefore, If a Christian reads the NIV and the modern translations for any period of time and continues to use them, well the growth, power, and spiritual maturity of that Christian will be stunted.
That's a conclusion based on a false premise.

If a Christian is going to grow and mature properly in his spiritual life, then that Christian needs God's pure and perfect words.
And where does one find God's "words"? You do realize that the bible is the word of God, not the "wordS" of God, right?

Extremly false and dangerous. This cult is evil by using these unfounded scare tactics in hope that Christians will join.

They have to make these claims to counter the blindingly obvious issue of the Holy Spirit working in peoples lives. I am a mature Christian, I accepted Christ in my late teens, some 30 years ago, I know HOly Spirit. I have asked Chosenbyhim the question "if the King James is only Bible a Christian should read, then why dosn't Holy Spirit tell me? WHy does God let me use these other Bibles?"

His reply is identical to the response quoted above, that I have been poisoned and had my spiritual growth put on hold, I am being held back and just an immature baby Christian, that I can only grow into a mature Christian and know the HOly SPirit properly if I just read the King James...

OF course this also contridicts the Bible, where we are told countless time that The Lord will protect us, nuture us and let us grow, if we were reading things that would restrict our growth etc, then would Holy Spirit really sit back and say nothing? No of course not.

What a bunch of nutters, One day I hope this cult and all its members will be banned from peddling this filth on these forums.

Welcome to the family of God. I read the Bible by reading 3 chapters of the Old Testament and 1 of the New Testament a day. There are some amazing parts - just riveting, and some are harder, like laws and so forth.

My advice is to read daily, and when you have finished the first year, keep on reading the rest of your life! The Bible just gets more interesting and deeper.

As far as translation, ChosenByHim is a bit deluded about the facts. Any modern Bible is your best choice, because you will be able to understand the language, and the word meanings will not have changed, like a lot of the KJV has over the past 400 years. KJV is valid, for sure, just not as understandable as a modern version. I read ESV (English Standard Version) because it is closest to the original languages, but Holman's Christian Standard Bible is another good version, with very fluid wording, but still close to the original.

I have some issues with NIV, but I have read it completely two times, and the message of God still shines through.

God bless you and don't be afraid to dig in and read!

Long ago, when 15 I starting reading the Bible and I started at Genesis 1:1 but after awhile I got
into the who begat whos, and I stopped and starting again at Matthew 1:1 and this time I was able
to keep at it and when finished with the New Testament I went on to Genesis...reading at first one
chapter of one book each night, later upping that. I had the whole Bible read in about a year, and the
started again. Thanks to Jesus!

Dear heartbrokenandhoping,
You have started on a good thing, and God bless you. I have been reading the bible for quite a while and is now just 3 books remaining of old testament to complete the whole bible. You can read the bible as the Spirit of God conveys to you.

The pattern which I follow everyday is

1) Read about the crucifixion of Christ. Matthew Mark Luke(Last 3 chapters), John Last 4 chapters. To focus on the cross of christ.

2) Read 3 Chapters from old testament or new testament, on consecutive days, one day old testament next day new testament.

3) Read one random psalm, for hope and deliverance.

I have completed the new testament and now reading it over again, old testament 3 books are remaining.

Below is the reading pattern for the last few days.

John 21 Num 24 Ps 148
Matt 28 Act 27 Ps 30
Mark 16 Num 27 Ps 118
Luke 24 Act 28 Ps 19
John 21 Num 30 Ps 124
Matt 28 Rom 3 Ps 9
Mark 16 Num 33 Ps 106
Luke 24 Rom 6 Ps 5
John 21 Num 36 Ps 133
Matt 28 Rom 9 Ps 20
Mark 16 Deu 3 Ps 127
Luke 24 Rom 12 Ps 29
John 21 Deu 6 Ps 137
Matt 28 Rom 15 Ps 35
Mark 16 Deu 9 Ps 136
Luke 24 Rom 16 Ps 31
John 21 Deu 12 Ps 94
Matt 28 1 Cor 3 Ps 9
Mark 16 Deu 15 Ps 107
Luke 24 1 Cor 6 Ps 44
John 21 Deu 18 Ps 89
Matt 28 1 Cor 9 Ps 55

A lot of good advice so far.

My advice is to forget reading it through by yourself the first time through it. Find a mature Christian partner who is willing to guide your study. It will keep you from getting discouraged and quitting.

When I start a study with someone. We start with the Apostles, then Acts, and James. We then study Paul's letters (we usually do Romans last). Then we finish the New Testament except for Revelations. We usually do the Old Testament in order except for Daniel. We do it just before finishing with Revelations. Plan on taking at least two year.

As said earlier, everyone has a pattern. To me, it is much more important to have a partner.

True.

No what is shameless is a bunch of yellow chickened Christians who will not tolerate the truth, let alone stand up for the truth.

The modern versions are wicked. And I will forewarn any new brother and sister in Christ about them where I am able to.

The purest words of most of scripture is Hebrew.

The purest words today which have been preserved up until now are found in the King James Holy Bible. They are found in the English language.

Actually Angela, you are the one who is "deluded" about the facts ma'am. I have shown you several times that the man whom you follow (James White) is a liar. And yet you continue to persist in your error of recommending his book of misinformation.

And no, choosing a modern bible is not the best choice. It is the poorest choice. Because the manuscripts which underline the modern bibles are corrupt. They come from Egypt, asnd not Antioch. Therefore if the foundation is corrupt, so will the product be.

And while there are words in the KJV which have changed in meaning over the years, still one can look up that word in a 1828 Webster's dictionary to find the meaning for that very word. All it does is require a little study. That is all. But of course many modern Christians do not like that pesky word 'study.' They rather take the easy route where ever they can. And actually, many times, one really doesn't even need an English dictionary to define a word in the KJV. Because the KJV is its own Dictionary. It defines its own words in the context which it is given. Gail Riplinger in her work has shown this to be the case.

And your reason for making this absurd claim is what, exactly?

1 John 4:3 (King James Bible)

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

You see that phrase that is in Bold above?

That very phrase is removed from many of the modern versions in 1 John 4:3.

Here is the proof:

New International Version
but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

New Living Translation
But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here.

English Standard Version
and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

New American Standard Bible
and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

Holman Christian Standard Bible
But every spirit who does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist; you have heard that he is coming, and he is already in the world now.

That's a conclusion based on a false premise.

No it ain't. It is based on facts.

Go to any church building where they are using the NIV, and if you have any discernment, you should be able to tell the apostasy that has crept in there. Want to know why most modern churches have forsaken the Old Hymns and have replaced it with Satan's Hellish rock and roll music? Well simple. Because they forsook God's preserved word, the King James Bible long ago, and now they are reaping what they have sown. What goes on in these modern church buildings which play all the rock and roll music, they are simply a flesh pot. That's what modern Christians want. They want flesh, so they got flesh. That is what they are getting.

And where does one find God's "words"? You do realize that the bible is the word of God, not the "wordS" of God, right?

One finds God's words in the King James Bible. And if they want to find His words in a foreign language, then it has to be a translation which is based on the correct Hebrew and Greek texts.

The Bible is both the word and words of God. Jesus said that Heaven and Earth would pass away, but that His words (Plural) would not pass away (See Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33).

Also in Psalm 12:6-7, God's promise is that He will keep and preserve His words (Plural).

So you believe the claims made in any image on the internet?

Last,

I have verified these claims. They are true. I have studied the Bible Version Issue for a few years now. I have read books, documented sources, Collations, studied and looked at videos and have listened to sermons on this issue.

Those claims you read in that poster which I shared are true. You can go and verify them yourself. The information is out there. Like I said, I have studied this issue for quite some time now.

I just didn't go to some website through google one night and then all of a sudden thought I knew all there is to know about the Bible Version Issue.

I have checked sources, collations and other documented materials. I suggest you go and take some time to study this Bible Version Issue as well. It iwill be a great blessing to you and to your Christian walk.
