They really are. It makes me wonder why my brain would put together some of the terrifying, or...truly strange things that it does.

I know dreams are a mind's way of processing things, or whatever, but why can't it process them while letting me fly and drive a Ferrari and stuff.
Or like...hash it out over a "dinner?" Has anyone ever dreamed of a food and actually was able to taste it in the dream? I did that once. I dreamed that I had an apple fritter, bit into it, and could taste it. I woke up REALLY craving apple fritters. Mom got me some not too long after (this was before my dairy/gluten issues).

Got a notice today from my old adoption agency that the little boy I'd been sponsoring has been adopted by a family in another country and no longer needs sponsorship (so I am transferring my sponsorship to another child.)

This is something I really like about my agency's program--they have defined goals for each child, and when the goal is met (whether it's providing food, education, adoption assistance, etc.), they meet their goals and then move on to help another child. It's a program that makes a definable difference, not a lifelong handout.

And... it's an indescribable feeling to know you were able to help other kids receive the gift of a family, just like you were given in your own life.

Wow, that's awesome! Thank you for sharing that. If you don't mind, what agency do you donate too?

Who would have thought that clown paintings and bedroom ceilings did not go well together?
ME!!!

i am not a fan of clowns. i think they're mostly creepy.

anyone with permanent expressions on their face sort of weird me out too, such as the people who are always smiling, aka, "the stepfords" as i refer to them. for some reason, i'm thinking of joel osteen. *snickers*

actually, all perceived inauthentic expression is something i really hate.

side note: once my mom over-tweezed her brows and i finally had to break down and tell her that she looked like she was in a state of perpetual surprise.

mom, if you don't want to look like you've just been goosed...

Hi Fenner,

Thank you for asking. I was adopted through Holt International Children's Services. The organization has an amazing history--the founders, Harry and Bertha Holt, were farmers in Oregon who saw a news documentary about Korean War orphans in the 1950's. Despite having 6 biological children of their own, Harry flew to Korea to see the orphanages there himself and they wound up adopting 8 Korean children (requiring a special act having to be passed by Congress.)

Despite all this, they felt that this was just not enough, and that God was calling them to serve in Korea. Holt International now has several branches in many different countries. Their first goal is always to keep the child with his or her biological family; if that's not possible, they look for a family within their birth country to adopt them. This usually doesn't happen though because most countries frown upon adoption (it's seen as bringing "bad blood" into the family line. Korea has, in the not too recent past, made adoption illegal because of this, but this ruling has since been reversed. However, it is still seen as socially unacceptable in most cases.) Holt's final course of action is to place the child with a permanent family in another country.

I know there is a lot of concern nowadays about whether services like this can be trusted or whether they are abusing funds, but I believe in Holt's work 100% because obviously, had it not been for them, I would most likely... Well, I certainly wouldn't be here posting on CC. :) But God does amazing work through ordinary people.

I have been part of their sponsorship program for several years and this is the third child I've sponsored who has been placed into adoption. Others also no longer needed sponsorship because Holt was able to help their parents get a better job, etc. I don't think I've sponsored any one child for more than a year at a time because as I said in my other post, they meet their goals with the family and then commit to another child. It's an exceptional program and the other cool thing is that the people I talk to when I make my sponsorship commitments are Holt adoptees THEMSELVES who have now grown up and are working for Holt as social workers, child care specialists, volunteers, etc.

Please feel free to ask me if you have questions and/or check out holtinternational.org.

Thank you so much for asking. :)

I'm sorry. Medication side-effect? Will be praying.
I think they suspect it's from the recent IV i had in that spot. They couldn't do anything about it at the hospital because they aren't trained to deal with post-transplant patients. And since i can't take the usual meds they would use to treat it i now have to contact my specialist to see if there's a way to treat it.
At least it's not a blood clot, as they first suspected.

I got offered a trip to Wyoming tomorrow morning... My poor fiancé left just a moment ago, knowing I'll be gone for two weeks. He has no idea what to do with himself while I'm gone, I have no idea what I'll do while I'm gone either, besides this Saturday. I get to go watch one of the best firework shows ever invented by awesome people. Seriously though, I've never seen one as good as the Byron Wyoming firework show every year. They're awesome. I wanted to show my fiancé the fireworks because he's never seen them.... I guess we'll see them together when we move up there next year.
Ugh! I don't want to leave my fiancé for two weeks though!

I hung a painting in an unconventional place today. I kind of like it.
what's "unconventional"?

nailed to the floor???

behind the medicine cabinet door???

on the house exterior, for the drivers who pass by???

way to leave us in suspense, woman! ; p

Seriously tempted to knock an entire wall out. Partly to get some cooler air in here, but mostly...that just sounds fun.

I agree with this, this is why masks freak me out. Especially the Saw doll mask. In college, my friends knew this, so they bought a Saw doll mask and PUT IT ON MY BELOVED STUFFED UNICORN on my bed in my dorm room.

Needless to say, it's not what I wanted to see when I swung open the door.
