Spiritual battle...has Christ returned? Is the word finished? If not the spiritual battle profit vanity. Build your house on vain treasures and tremble and quake at the first move Christ makes. Spirit profit not that of the hand but the snake of the eye.

Overcomers and only overcomers can expect to eat from the tree of life.

Church members include those who will not overcome.

Read, apply and believe the entire Bible.

"...To him who overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." (Revelation 2:7)

Study Revelation 22. It's the last chapter of the Bible. You can read it. It's OK. You may read some things that are different than the doctrine that you've been taught. When in doubt, believe the Word of God rather than the doctrines of men.

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (Revelation 22:14)

"Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be." (Revelation 22:12)

OSS - Depends on the Lord, Not the Christian

"But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and guard you from evil."- 2 thes 3:3

Why that's not fair, is it? I mean you had rather hold on by your toenails & get the glory for yourself?

The Lord shall establish the believer -- no ifs ands or buts. And He will guard the believer from evil. If you believe now, your future is sure.

That's called OSS = Once saved, Saved! aka, having it made in the shade! better, in the light!

Eternal Security.

You see He is a 1st class Savior, the only Savior. He saves the ones He saves (duh).

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.

Is that all right with you?

Would it help to recite it 100 times a day until it sinks in?

He shall save His people from their sins.

Now how do you become a "His people"?
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved.

Though you takes it on the chins,
You shall be saved from sins.

Now you grin & bear a thing or two,
But you never end up in the stew.

He shall save His people from their sins.

Not "keep commandments." Works don't save, the blood of the Lord Jesus, yes.

Surely, NewB, you have already read my posts where I show that the overcomer is the believer as John says in 1 John.

Good evening, (Nil is it? or Nell, as in my poor old Nelly grey, they have taken you away.")

Now dear nl, John explains the overcomer in 1 John, as the believer. All believers are overcomers.

Revelation 3:5
The one who overcomes will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father… 1 John 5:4-5 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. And who is he who overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God? For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

Praise the Lord! This is a great couple of passages that teach OSS so clearly (Once saved, saved! -- the startling concept that salvation is salvation!) Eternal Security. He will never blot out the believer's name out of the Book of Life!

Thou shalt call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins.

What is more doctrine of man than the delusion that you can be saved by works. Where does that come from but a wicked heart of pride? All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.

As to the end of Revelation, when this chap named Erasmus put together a Greek New Testament in the 1500's (which led to the KJV), he didn't even have a complete Greek manuscript of Revelation. So he made up one for something like 6 verses, translating Latin to Greek. So the end of Revelation in the King Jimmy has some corruption in it. Since Erasmus, many Greek manuscripts have been discovered. For example, you quote a corrupt text of Rev 22:14:

"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." "Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."

"do his commandments" is not the reading. The scripture is clear that works do not save.
And it looks like your threw in Rev 22:12 after 14.
Blessed are they who wash their robes, that they may have the right to come to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

You will not get in by doing His commandments; if you insist on that route, you are not trusting the Lord Jesus as Savior, but heading for the Lake of Fire. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse from sin.

As to 22:12, Yes rewards are given to believers for works. Believers have a judgment of works for rewards or loss of rewards. At the Judgment Seat of Christ salvation is not an issue. If you aren't saved, you can expect a date at the Great White Throne Judgment, instead of at the Bema Judgment Seat of Christ.

Now Dear nl,
why would anyone want to miss out on the free gift of eternal life?
The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Why miss out for failing to trust the Crucified with your eternal destiny?
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ & you shall be saved.

No, I get all the fighting I want on this board.
Alligator, I fight not with you. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities & powers using the Word of God as the sword, not to cut up a human being, but the enemy.

What is awful if one realizes that one is wrestling vs flesh & blood,
but that flesh-and-blood is the guy looking back in the mirror.

You know, I am glad you are not God, thank you Jesus, and neither am I or any Humankind
Thank you for the Mercy Father and so Mercy I give, thank you again Jesus, and thank you Father to teach me how to walk by Faith in the finished work of Son

James 2:19-26

King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]19 [/SUP]Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
[SUP]20[/SUP]But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

[SUP]21 [/SUP]Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

[SUP]25 [/SUP]Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
[SUP]26 [/SUP]For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Bless you, love you the same as God loves me through Son
I see no other way to love back, that to first see the depth, height. length of God's love, given to us by Son, the Christ
Do you agree with that?
How deep is Gods Love?

  • By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.

you really are some piece of work.....But thay have to be saved first. so now you determine who is saved and who is baptized

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
God does trhat and you just called it, so be it For:
Romans 14:4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand
Matthew 7:1
Judge not, that ye be notjudged.

I do not even judge myself, God has done that and I thank God for this, I die daily, you?

Re: Dear Believer, You Have Been Delivered from future Wrath

Colossians 3:5-7

King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
[SUP]7 [/SUP]In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
(do them no more) a true believer obeys
Yes, so by the death of Christ to the flesh nature, reckon self dead to self with Christ at his death and come alive in the resurrected Christ, where the Old Man is crucified, mine, self-righteousness that is

[h=3]Philippians 3:3[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

[SUP]3 [/SUP]For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

[h=3]Philippians 3:10[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

[SUP]10 [/SUP]that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

[h=3]Philippians 3:11[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

[SUP]11 [/SUP]if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

Re: R U Too Proud to Let the Lord Help You?

So do you disobey the blue ....does it matter since you are OSS ,there is no need to obey because according to you either way you are OSS
There is taking this amazing grace of God for granted, and for any that do: and not be thankful, well, that is ultimately between God and you and me and all personally
Hebrews 2:3 how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

so do not take it for granted and do not think you are somebody, sinde one thinks they obey or have to in order to be saved.
[h=3]2 Corinthians 13[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

13 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. [SUP]2 [/SUP]I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare: [SUP]3 [/SUP]since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? [SUP]6 [/SUP]But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction. [SUP]11 [/SUP]Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. [SUP]12 [/SUP]Greet one another with an holy kiss. [SUP]13 [/SUP]All the saints salute you.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

I have done another study into this debate and it seems like the words that keep getting lost or misplaced are......may, you shall be, you will be, persevere to the end, hold on to the end, don't let anybody take away, and so forth. That and Jesus teaching to do as He says to do.

This is what they say when put together....Confess Jesus as Lord ( believe in Him ) for salvation, then persevere to the end ( make it through every trial and tribulation in your life with out falling away ) then you are saved.
Yes, so then how many will go to the death of self as Stephan did in Acts. tribulation coming up on the agenda
I know many will say well I won't be here, I am pre trib

Yet what if you find you here, will you go to the death without the mark of the beast
God knows who will and who will not, maybe best to start preparing today and die daily as Paul said he does, did
Thank you Kennethcadwell

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22:24)

It sure sounds like Almighty God can take away good and important things.
And could that be on the fact as to whether one does believe or not? God knows who do, do you think? And so will God forsake us that do believe? Did he forsake his own Son? Did it seem as if though he did at the cross? So when we suffer for Christ, for Father through Christ, are we being punished by God?
God forbid

Re: Does "Chosen from the Beginning" Effect Security?

OSS = Once Saved, Saved!
(if you are saved, then you are saved, O Rocket Scientist!)

But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, for that God chose you from the beginningto salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: whereunto he called you through our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We can see that chose is before glory; but some of the other items are not so certain of order to me.

This 2 Thes. passage reminds one of Rom 8:
foreknew > foreordained > called > justified > glorified.
What do you think? Are the steps in 2 Thes
beloved > chose > sanctification > belief > glory?
Where do we insert gospel & "called" in this line?
A time-line of sequence is not immediately apparent in 2 Thes.
and how do they correlate with Rom 8?

But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, for that God
chose you from the beginning to salvation in
sanctification of the Spirit and
belief of the truth: whereunto he
called you through our
gospel
, to the obtaining of the
glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Did God
1) love these people, then
2) choose them, then
3) set them apart by the Spirit, then
4) give them the gospel, then
5) call them, then
6) give them belief/faith,
followed by:
7) glorify them in the future?

What do you do with passages like this, of which there are quite a number in the Bible. Being chosen, elect, foreordained/predestined is a Bible fact, though Christians have various explanations of it. We have to put aside what may seem to us to be abstract standards of fairness. Instead, we have to grapple with just what God's word says on the subject.

So far as I know, every reasonable explanation of predestination is compatible with eternal security. There are those who explain predestination as based on God knowing in advance who would believe and also believe in eternal security.

But if you accept any form of predestination, can you deny eternal security? Would God predestine a select group of persons for salvation, then turn around and roast them in the Lake of fire for some other reason?

Things to ponder.

But whatever, it is clear that He who began the good work in the believer will complete it.
Stand therefore stand,

[h=3]Colossians 1:21-23[/h]Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

[SUP]21 [/SUP]And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled [SUP]22 [/SUP]in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: [SUP]23 [/SUP]if ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

Re: Given Before Times Eternal. Does 2 Timothy 1 Imply Eternal Security?

You will also be lacking in spiritual revelation if the Spirit of God ain't in there as well. The bible says those who are not of God will not be able to hear the truth. I'm just questioning.
Just ask God to separate you, (carnal nature flesh) and God's Spirit in you given you called the hidden man of the heart, where one serves God in truth, and is reckoned as dead to his carnal nature, born again ion Spirit and truth

For the flesh dead Spirit of mankind is what is at battle against God to this very day
