1 Corinthians 13If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. [SUP]
2 [/SUP]If I have
the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. [SUP]
3 [/SUP]And if I give all my possessions to feed
the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.[SUP]
4 [/SUP]Love is patient, love is kind
and is not jealous; love does not brag
and is not arrogant, [SUP]
5 [/SUP]does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong
suffered,
[SUP]6 [/SUP]does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
[SUP]7 [/SUP]bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
[SUP]
8 [/SUP]Love never fails; but if
there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if
there are tongues, they will cease; if
there is knowledge, it will be done away. [SUP]
9 [/SUP]For we know in part and we prophesy in part; [SUP]
10 [/SUP]but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. [SUP]
11 [/SUP]When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. [SUP]
12 [/SUP]For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. [SUP]
13 [/SUP]But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.
2 Peter 1:2-11
To those who have received a faith of the same kind as ours, by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ:
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; [SUP]
3 [/SUP]seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of
the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. [SUP]
5 [/SUP]
Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, [SUP]6 [/SUP]and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, [SUP]7 [/SUP]and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. [SUP]10 [/SUP]Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; [SUP]11 [/SUP]for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.
Yes, we are eternally secure IN Jesus Christ. But one should not be careless in assuming. As it has already been pointed out in this thread, Jesus told those that had done miracles that He did not know them. Yes, it is through faith, but contrary to the teaching by some, faith throughout the bible brings about a response. Without the resulting action that the faith lead you to, the faith is dead and IS WORTHLESS. No, we are not saved by our works, but by the faith that was strong enough to cause us to do something - What we are called to do.
I don't think, at least for some, that you are trying to "promote sin", but be aware of the fact that not all that read your posts are as well read (biblically) as you may be. Feeding meat to infants (in Christ) may cause them to choke.
And while I do believe that we are eternally secure in Jesus Christ, I do not believe that we cannot choose to walk out of The Door that gave us that eternal security. It is called free will and, while I am not sure exactly how it works after we are physically dead, we do have free will to choose or deny Jesus as long as we are still breathing.
