If I have no energy, I will just go to sleep. Why suffer?

I am usually quiet when entering a room or something, so I have unintentionally startled people when they realize I am there. Just my luck, the one time I actually have the piano wire ready to strangle someone, I will trip and they will hear me...not that I would ever do that.

I am currently the accompanist at a Lutheran church, which I am not quite used to; I am more familiar with Baptist and non-denominational churches. Still, the people are very welcoming. The word is preached... I'm not going to say it feels like my home church, but to be honest, in the church I came from, I felt a lot of underlying issues with me being divorced and/or political fallout from some abrupt changes in the music ministry, a ministry in which I was heavily involved. So my old church kind of stopped feeling like home anyways. For now, God has me where He wants me. I think that right now, I am supposed to experience different styles of worship and different types of services. It's all part of His plan.

I attend church with my parents, but not as periodically as I should. It is the church I grew up in, and back in its hay day, it was a place I felt myself in. Unfortunately life happened, and I no longer felt like that was the place for me..Now that I am getting back to God, I'm grateful that my parents are soo involved in the church. My father is the deacon, my mother is a Sunday School teacher. Without them there, I do not think I would have healed as much as I have. I know its a long process, but current prayer is to find a spiritual home of my own

Hi there! In finding a good spiritual home, the background habit of daily Bible reading and prayer is likely to help you greatly focus on the reason for Christian fellowship.
I hope it works out well for you by God's grace; my wife and I go to a Bible based local church here in Canada.

i don't think i've ever heard of a game called "guess who".
but why does it make me think, "stalker"??? and why would i want to guess? seriously, i was among the first to get caller ID, i'm not all the interested in surprises from random people. : )
the end of the innocence for game like that. has anybody else found themselves picking apart all the rhymes and tales we heard as kids, replacing them with psychological labels and finding them rather disturbing?
i was watching someone's childhood video not that long ago, and one of the girls was repeating "old mother hubbard...".
old mother hubbard was some crazy insane child-hoarder who shouldve gotten a visit from human services long before she took up residence in a shoe. or so i was thinking...
what about this is something we'd want to tell a child?
or hansel and gretel being shoved into an oven by some nasty homicidal chick who probably was ticked off because the kids would't stop ringing her doorbell, or feeding the crummy birds who were probably dive bombing all her lovely bird feeders.
right?
and while i'm ranting, as much as i love kids, why do they make children's music so dreadful? when i spent time with my goddaughter, i sort of felt it was my sworn duty and obligation to expose her to good stuff, i.e. musical royalty, not that crappy saccharine stuff that probably causes one's ears to bleed...

1)A lack of energy. I am rather lazy at times.
2)Scare someone unfortunately. Sad thing is I can just be standing around a woman minding my own business, and then she turns around and screams when she sees me. I kid you not. It has happened many times.
3)Retirement? I don't know the word. Thing is I don't think it knows me either.
4)It depends. Sometimes things don't phase me at all and then other times I will look down and blush.
5)Indeed I do. My church is an amazing place full of wonderful people. They have helped us out so much it isn't even funny, and they are always there with a hug or handshake.

Yes, even though I hate cats. He's got life figured out- speak your mind, don't care if people think you're stupid, attack stuff, sleep all day. And eat monkeys. Um...I might be able to skip that last part, though.

I make some pretty awesome pies and cookies. Cake is a little iffy. Other food...um...I haven't figured that stuff out yet.
3. What was your favorite childhood book?
There were a lot that I loved...The Secret Garden, Charlotte's Web, Nancy Drew, Little House on the Prairie, The Chronicles of Narnia, any fairy tales I could get my hands on...
4. What was the last concert you attended?
I've never gotten to go to a concert that I wanted to go to, and those were few and far between. I think the last one I went to was a Beatles tribute band at some huge barbeque thing the local hospital was doing for the public. Kind of horrible.
5. If the Lord called you into the mission field, what type of work would you ideally like to do?
I've felt sort of drawn to helping young women- teenagers, young adults- though I'm not really sure exactly how I'd do that. I'd like to start right here, near home. I don't know that I could be much of a mentor or anything, but this area hasn't got much in the way of a women's shelter or anything like that. Having grown up around here, I can almost guarantee there are plenty of women who need that kind of help on some level but are at a loss for where to start simply because we lack the resources. And teenagers have precious little to do besides sports or partying. My highschool class had the highest number of drop-outs out of any other class in years...and the highest number of drop-outs due to pregnancy. If I could find a way to start helping here, who knows where I could go with that? Maybe I feel this way because God is calling me to this kind of work. Huh.

I think being Garfield the cat would be a pretty sweet deal. I'd get to stay in bed on Monday's, eat all the lasagna, burgers, and donuts the comic strip artist could draw, AND be seen as cute for doing it, even if I became enormously round. It just doesn't get any better than that.

My cooking repertoire is limited these days but I try to fool myself into thinking that if I can read, I can cook. Ha ha ha. My "signature" dish is one I saw on a PBS cooking show (Nick Stellino) with pasta, cauliflower, and anchovy paste. Yes, I know it sounds disgusting. I thought so too when I first heard the ingredients--but it looked so scrumptious on TV that I had to try it. I've been making it for over 15 years and it's always a huge hit with anyone I (force) feed it to. Honest.
3. What was your favorite childhood book?
Good Night Moon. I always loved searching the pages for the little mouse. I have a copy of it displayed in the front of my bookshelves.

Oh man. I should never admit this publicly. I had two good friends in grade school and we all turned 16 within the same week. One friend had a car; they went together on a Richard Marx concert ticket (it was $15) for my birthday (I was the last to turn 16.). We just thought we were the coolest--piled into a car all on our own, driving an hour away to see this show. The friend who drove was also wildly... into... (gulp) New Kids on the Block... and took the other two of us along for company. Sigh. And those are the only concerts I've ever been too. There you have it, folks! All my dirty laundry exposed, right here on Christian Chat!!! The thing of it was... we were kids going out and having a BLAST. Just remembering it all still makes me smile.

For years I have wanted to go back and participate in a volunteer program at my orphanage in Korea. I saw a flyer for one several months ago in which you volunteer to go for, I think a month? And it's in December, so one of your assignments is to HAND OUT CHRISTMAS PRESENTS TO THE KIDS at the orphanage. How ultra-cool would that be???!!!!
But there are some major obstacles I'd have to work around--time off work, saving up enough money, and the fact that my survival rate in Korea has always been nil. Besides my original adoption, I went there once as an adult for 2 weeks--I didn't like most of the food and got a bit sick and I am very, very sensitive to insect bites. Apparently, Korea has year-round mutant mosquitoes and it was a horrible, painful experience. I can be the only one in the room who gets bitten--and I came home with welts all over my legs, arms, and neck the size of golf balls, which is something I really don't want to experience again.
I suppose I could try arming myself with a bee keeper's suit.

1. Tintin, naturally. A young man who's a reporter and detective, travels the world righting wrongs, solves mysteries, goes on adventures and hunts down gangsters? What's not to love?
2. I think we've already done this question. I cook a mean meat and vegetable curry and/or stir-fry (with lots of garlic, onion and herbs and spices).

Hobbes, from Calvin and Hobbes. I think that he and I are quite a bit alike: imaginative, loyal, logical, careful, but still likes to have fun. Plus, I have a stuffed animal that I adore, so...it's only fitting.

I'm good at making breakfast foods (eggs/omelettes/french toast) but I also make these triple layer peanut butter brownies that make your blood sugar go up just by reading what is in them. My brother-in-law likes them so much that I have made them for him as his Christmas present two years in a row.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom! I actually got it for Christmas a few years ago...because I asked for it. I really am 24, I promise.

Man, I haven't been to a concert in a long time. It was in college, my sophomore year? It was a Christian concert, I remember Lecrae and Tenth Avenue North were there, along with a few other artists I can't remember. We got really close seats. Which kills the ears but is more fun.

The Lord called me into the mission field a few years ago for a short time. It ended terribly, but I enjoyed the work I did and it's likely what I'd want to do again. I did office work (emails, phone calls, organizing) and I worked with children who came from VERY broken homes and environments. I love doing both of those things so it was the best of both worlds.
