really? I would never wear a skirt that goes below my knees and I wear makeup but no one can tell because its all natural. ha!

i think above the knee is no good :D

nd i dunno if u ment it as a joke or what but how can u wear makeupand still be all natural?

The question i like to ask is: Why do you wear the clothes you do? Is it because you want to be seen and get looks and attention? This is one of the many things that should differentiate us from "the rest". If you dress just like the rest... then you are like them and you are them.

Also, i guess you're from the U.S. I admit i feel more at ease dressing a little more "liberally" in the U.S. than in my home country, simply a culture thing. Guys here are usually a lot more obvious in letting you know they like what they're seeing. And i'm gonna say something which is NOT meant to be offensive, it is only an observation i have had. Guys here have this very negative concept of American women. Why? Most of it is because of the media, but it's also because they see it in person. They think American woman are all about being liberal and sexual. When they see a loud obnoxious blond showing more than anyone else around her... the stereotype is just confirmed. And it's really sad. My mom is American and it sickens me when people give us this "look" in the street as soon as they hear us speaking in English. And i'm not trying to bash american women, this is applicable to all women.. and all women are heading that way, not matter where they're from. I just admire women who can look nice without having to show half their body. It is very doable.

Really? Why do you say that? I mean you can be modest even if its above your knee
Its called mineral or organic makeup. Do you not like makeup?

i disagree that it is modest above the knee. I just dont think it is right.

I personally - HATE makeup :D

I dont think God approves of it

I disagree with the whole idea of modesty depends on "why you are wearing those clothes" because if you are wearing a super low V-cut shirt ...with clevage just hanging out everywhere... and a skin-tight mini skirt..but you are doing it for yourself or because it matches perfectly ...that doesn't make it any more right than if you're doing it to attract people.

I think you should be wearing clothes ..so that down the road after you're happily married...your husband doesn't have to look back at the pictures of you from today and ask you what exactly you were thinking showing your body off like that to all the men in close vicinity. Just like alot of us are staying "pure" until marriage... we should conceal our bodies for our future husbands. ..any random guy on the street shouldnt be able to see practically all of your body as you walk past him.

I guess its a matter of opinion. I've been told my dress in my avatar is really modest and then some people don't think it is its whatever I know I didn't wear it to show off everything but I did wear it to get attention since it was homecoming night.

I can see where you are coming from (:

very true (:

I agree with those saying its what your intent is thats important..
But I agree with those opposing the bikini - In a way.. For many teenage girls our body shape changes dramatically so in my opinion its a waste of good money and fabric having to buy a one piece every single year.. Yet I also understand that modesty in front of boys is important. Wearing a bikini in public is seen as ok - yet would you walk into a local bus stop or library wearing only your underwear? Cause thats what a bikini is.

So - do what I do. I require a two piece suit because my body shape still cant make up its mind how much growing it has to do lol. But buy a nice pair of feminine board shorts and singlet to go over it. You end up becomming appropriately gorgeous and guys will actually call you pretty to your face and feel they can get away with it because you both know it wasnt because of your underwear imitating swimwear that made you so.

Not only will you be protecting your upper legs and lower back area from painful sunburn but you are also safe guarding yourself from potential accidents like losing one half of your bikini. And trust me - it just aint worth the risk.. If you insist on wearing a bikini bear in mind the private area of your body you are putting on display - then you'll understand why there are so many advertisements for bikini waxes in the summer season. Still want to wear a bikini? That excruciatingly painful first wax will leave you very tender and will make you walk like a penguin for weeks which youd have to regularly maintain so say goodbye to swimming in salt water..

Hehehe have I put you off them yet?

It's all about layering girls.

Go out and buy yourself a zillion different stretch tank tops in lots of different colours.

They come in all different lengths too. If you have pants or skirt with a low-rider type waistline, or a shirt that isn't quite long enough... these are perfect for layering with.

They are really cheap too, usually between 6-10 dollars. A lot of places do those 'buy 2 get 1 free' type deals. I must have 15 of these tops, I love them.

If you get plain bright colours, you can co-ordinate them with almost anything, you'll get heaps of wear from them; and you can dress them up really easily with a few simple accessories.

Ok, I just recently thought of a new definition of modest- This is the best one I've come up with so far IMO XD

So, ladies... If skin is showing, and you would be uncomfortable with a guy touching said skin, then it is inappropriate ^_^

I would feel uncomfortable if a guy touched my feet! Jk I understand what you are saying. :D

im sorry madam who responded first but i have a great grandma who thinks just like you but is now blind i love her alot just like i do for my mother. she would scold me and my couzens for having dresses that would show a bit of our back, but im the one out 5 that visit her thats in our family, and we 5 r out of the 12 she raised or helped raise. what im trying to say is the way u responded to the young girl was rude and very judgmental im only about to turn 16 and i understand your point of veiw but i belive you should be more poliet about this.
now the topic am gonna say that no matter what u do a guy has a imagination, but still you shouldnt show cleavage mostly if your umm breasts are large just cus they are a bigger temptation and your skirt should possibly be in the middle of the lowest part of your butt to the lower part of your knee
sorry i know it sounds very old style but i dont belive to show a little more ONCE ina while but not to the point were ur all i look sexy but to make your self confdence boost alittle not to get cocky i know im like years late on this topic but yea and princess i wanna know your point of veiw is please i truly didnt mean to be rude please understand

There was a comment about dirty thoughts being thought, even if a girl just has a pretty face and frumpy clothes.
Lust comes in all sizes.
But, that doesn't mean you can go around wearing shorts that show everything, and a top that is a little too revealing.
I think by doing that, you're somewhat enforcing adultry, because it's probably obvious that guys are going to have thoughts. That's not a big secret.
You're focusing more on what guys would think if you show some skin, and less of what God would think about it.
But, I'm not saying you should wear three jackets and five pairs of jeans, no.
You should understand what's modest, and what's not.
There's lust every where, though, so don't get that confused with your clothes.
A pretty girl could walk down the streets in a potato sack and stained jeans, and some guys would STILL have thoughts.
All of these people have great opinions! :)
I hope I made some sense.

I don't really see the point in a bathing suit at all if your just going to cover it all up..

I wear bikinis and I've never gotten a bikini wax, though I do make sure nothings sticking out that shouldn't be.. And waxing isn't needed, a bikini razor or a regular razor can get the job done quite fine lol

I've never felt offended with someone calling me pretty, I don't prance around flirting and such. So I don't feel like a guy is trying to get away with something by calling me pretty.

As a recent ex-teen here's my opinion. I think it's all based on culture and such. When I lived in New Zealand I used to walk home from and to the beach in a bikini and board shorts, usually dusting wet sand off of me half the way, but that wasn't considered "sexy" or "too revealing". Maybe it's because I was flat chested... Now after working in a gentleman's club I feel as though my senses of "exposure" are dulled, so I always try to cover up consciously, and wear camisoles(with thick straps) under almost all my clothes.

As far as swimsuits are concerned, I think it's really based on your body type and how you carry yourself. If you're a rather curvy girl, a bikini probably isn't for you. If you're rather tomboyish, I think you could pull off a bikini, but get one without the string sides, one that really has a good inch or so of fabric on the sides.

Also I absolutely believe it has everything to do with intent. If you're trying to show some skin(for someone, for attention, anything) and just want to find out how much you can get away with without being "un-Christian", then it's already wrong. But if you approach clothes with the same sense of "saving yourself" for the partner God has chosen for you, I think your choices will be right.
