So, you guys have been here for me when I was dealing with some dark stuff and I just wanted to say thanks. I've been reading above and I see some of you are also experiencing stuff, just wanted to say I really hope it all turns around soon and you're all happy etc. You're good people. I am lucky to have met you bunch.

Last month I decided to start taking better care of my health. It's not like I had any huge health concerns, but I figured I could do a better job of eating more nutritious foods and being a bit more active. I've been making little changes here and there, things I can stick with but will provide long-term benefits.
Well in the last two weeks I have had multiple people tell me that my skin looks brighter, I look more awake, and that I look like I'm losing weight. At first I didn't believe them, so I weighed myself and discovered I've lost a little over 5 lbs.

I ponder sometimes why I am here then I realize I am here because Jesus wants me to be here. I am breathing because He is allowing to because of His mercy and He still has things He wants me to do here. I do not always like being patient but I do know Jesus is with me in this journey.

I had totally intended to eat excessive amounts of ice cream tonight, but upon sitting down in the kitchen with my tasty frozen pre-bedtime snack, I found 5 year old letters, saved and printed by my sister, between my biological father and all of his children.
That sorta really curbed my appetite.
Though I think if there had been any quiche left, nothing would have stopped me from eating it.

Always slightly weird when I visit my BFF in San Antonio. He has lots of framed collage-style pics of the old college gang hanging about. The Ex is in a fair chunk of them.
This is my first time attending the TMEA convention/clinic since she ended it two and a half years ago. All but one of the prior conventions I attended (the very first), I attended with her, so it's a little odd feeling attending this alone. I've always had SOMEONE to hang out with at the convention, be it The Ex, my partner from work, my best friend from high school, a buddy from college.
I clearly won't be hanging with The Ex, and she's no longer working in music education anyways.
My ex-partner from work hasn't found a job, and is not attending, since he's prepping to become a father.
My best friend from high school passed four and a half years ago. That first TMEA without him was a bit sad.
The college buddy couldn't afford to make the trip this year.
So...it's just me and several thousand other music teachers...and only a few of whom I might even consider casual acquaintances. (The BFF I am staying with isn't an educator, so he won't attend the clinic, either.) Definitely feels...foreign...all of a sudden.
Dah, well. All will be made right in the Exhibit Hall. Shour needs a new graphite baton. And a handmade custom barrel.

I hate it when I get all...needy and pathetic.
Part of me is like, "I so got this. Don't worry about me, I can do anything!"

I just tried a glass of some cheap cabernet sauvignon. I really needed something to take the edge off tonight. Here's to alcohol... a frustrated, lonely man's best freind (I don't have a dog

i went to the store tonight and saw these big, beautiful, chocolate dipped strawberries. in spite of my dinner sitting ready on the stove, i ended up eating 5 giant dipped strawberries for dinner instead.
they were soooo good. i might need to get more of those.
oh, and by the way, i don't eat sweets. although that might change (at least for a couple days).

I was sitting outside supervising the other children when the youngest of my kindergarten children came through the open door, rubbing her eyes, having just woken up from sleep. I was having one of the roughest days. My head ache was ready to make my temples implode and my eyeballs fall off my face. Without a word she climbed in to my lap and completely relaxed her tiny frame against mine. I wrapped my arms around her tightly and buried my face in her hair, feeling the sting of tears burn my tired eyes. We sat like this for awhile.
She eventually hopped off my lap and looked at me quizzically. I couldn't put my happy teacher face on anymore, I didn't hide anything as I stared back in to her deep blue eyes. The Lord has started a process in me to redeem me from my past, and revisiting the memories, although not alone, have been completely draining. She asked me what was wrong in her tiny voice, and I said that the loudness was hurting my ears (some children were pretending to be lions in the background noise). She carefully cupped her hands over my ears in such a delicate manner. She kept searching my face and looked deep in to my eyes, as if she was waiting for the 'hope' switch to flick on and bring some light to my eyes. I placed my hands over hers, and instantly realised how warm our hands were together.
It was such a simple statement, such a plain fact, but she said it in a way that breathed love. All she said was, 'Your have brown eyes.' I smiled, and replied with, 'Your eyes are blue.' She started telling me her entire family's eye colours, including her grandparents. She didn't take her hands away from my ears the entire time. She kept trying to protect me.
I noticed she was still sleepy eyed and asked her if she wanted to hop back on my lap. She gave this impressionable sigh like she's just worked a solid 9 hour shift and stretched her arms out to be picked up. I wrapped her in my arms, and gently sang a song of worship. I only knew the chorus, but the lines seemed appropriate. "Call me, call me out of where I have been." Somewhere between the singing, I whispered "Thank you" to the tiniest of my kindergarten children, and continued the song from there.

Just curious - I'm surprised you were able to even make physical contact with the children. Our country is pretty strict on that account, too strict (obviously for good reason) but I think the pendulum's swung too much the other way.

Well, I work in a child care centre, schools are another story. Although the Kindergarten is the new Prep, and Prep is the new Year 1, the education system seems to be trying to make amends by promoting educators in early childhood settings to hug and engage in physical affection. The last work conference I went to stated that kissing a child's cheek or head shouldn't be shunned. Depending on what school and who the Principal is, some schools encourage hugging with Prep aged students. I think by Year 1 hugs are ruled out.
That's a wonderful story Arlene. I know that they are pretty strict here in America too. Although at the beginning of this year my Daughter's teacher from last year asked her for a hug. I think hugging is nice. Some kids to get many of those at home.

Wooooooooooooooo, seeing that picture first thing in the morning gets the peepers open right quick like. LOL LOL
Am so glad I have all of my very long silver/blonde hair and NO facial hair. I so have a better mug shot then that guy. LOL And my two feral kitties are adorable and very cute. Good to see that duck. LOL
