i just got back from my girls' group. every time i drive back, i feel so overwrought with concern and fear for them. none of them have any strong family connections -- several live with guardians/family member. they're so hungry for love, attention, and someone to simply ask them about themselves and show genuine interest. i'd love to think they're unusual, but i know it's just not like that.
anyway, just when i think that they're overly mature jr. highers, one of them suggests we try cartwheeling around the track since we were leaving anyway.
i can't remember the last time i was cartwheeling, but i think it might be good for the soul. : )

I bought this 1500 pieces puzzle, n' now I'm stuck, I can't finish it!! It's strange cuz that's not my first time to buy one. I always buy these puzzles, the smallest is 1000 pieces n' I finished ALL of them but can't finish that one!! 
We used to do puzzles over the holidays when we all lived at home. The house was bursting to the seems with cousins, friends, and crazy old relatives. Though crowded, it was a lot of fun to put together the mystery picture that covered the entire coffee table. There were at least 4 of us working on it at a time as we noshed on leftover sweets and spiced hot tea.

Puzzles makes me see that when things are smaller and smaller, it's harder to fall into place. In other words when I think how hard it is sometimes for things to fall into place n' I start to analyze everything into small details, I see how complicated n' over whelming it can become. I go even deeper thinking WAW God!! with how BIG the universe is with its details that my mind cannot even see it or imagine it, yet, Your sovereign hands puts everything into place and You take care of all the details, n' look at me here frustrated with a small puzzle. N' I realize at that moment that I'm NOTHING next to God, therefore, I feel helpless cuz I wanna take things into my own limited hands when I can't solve a small puzzle instead of giving it to my Creator who is managing this WHOLE BIG FAT PUZZLE we live in!!
It also teaches me to be patient. A virtue that I don't have n' still working on it!!

jen, i like your picture! it makes me think of "the cat that swallowed the canary"....
p.s. i appreciated your honesty. even those who are very good and capable at something will suffer from nagging feelings of self-doubt--because they care about doing a good job.
i admire so much your dedication to your family and kids. it's inspiring. truly. : )

Oh yes! This SO reminds me of my own English upbringing. Mummy and I and sister would string popcorn and wrap the "old man" oak tree out in the courtyard for the birds to munch, then we would form a long line of all the children and follow Fatha into the library and listen while he read "A Place Called Canterbury" and giggle while brotha was reprimanded!

yeah, it's actually organized by the girl scouts. school counselors "nominate" certain girls that need additional attention or mentoring, usually because they're "at risk" kids for all the unfortunate things that kids (girls) can be at risk for.
what's really cool is that the school supports it so much that they give quite a bit of latitude to take the girls places and do things with them--even what we discuss, especially off-site. we're having a sleepover in two weeks (start praying now, please) and one of my favorite things to do is take them riding. i love seeing their confidence/trust grow in such an organic and beautiful way.
it's heartbreaking to see them trying to find a place in this world without Christ in the center.
i'd like to think i'm helping them and showing them the way, but usually it feels like the opposite. they're such a blessing to my life, and have made me so thankful for the things i didn't have to experience. kids hold a mirror up to you, whether you want to see it or not.
oh, and a funny thing: i was never a girl scout. : )

That's a cool puzzle lil Christian. My birthday is soon, the 25th, so a couple weeks. Anyhow I would like a Laminator. Or one of those kitchen islands you roll in I don't want one that's built into the floor. I want to be able to move it out of the way. Oh and a pony, I want a pony, not a my little pony a real pony and someone to take care of it. Actually I'd rather have chickens and a goat.
