I'm making Shepard's Pie, or Cottage Pie tonight for you British folks. I use hamburger or turkey not lamb. I don't like the taste of lamb. I was reading the directions, I needed to know what temp to bake it at. Anyhow I though it said 8 sticks of butter, now I like butter, but 8 sticks?? I read it wrong, 8 tablespoons, not 8 sticks. I used 2 tablespoons. I'm not trying to get all Paula Dean up in here, I like the butter, but I don't like heart attacks.

Yes that line doesn't work. Now I think, wow food, movie, I can eat food, no one asking me for stuff. Yes, sounds good! Unless it's BK or McDonalds, I'll do that with the kids, but blah. McDonald's has soup in the winter, I eat that or the oatmeal, both good by the way. Burger King had garden burgers they are good, you can get them without all the stuff. I get them with onion and tomato and put my own Ketchup on. They tend to slather it in stuff, yuck.
McDonald's has soup?

My kids and I are lamb lovers, do I've made it with lamb when it's just us. Next month, I'm making lil' shepard's pies (beef ones) with phyllo dough for my piano recital...well, I currently have a french horn student, so it's my music recital, not just piano. Afterwards, it's a potluck reception.

Any CC'ers wanna come over March 15th? It's a fun concert and a good spread o' food afterwards!

i grew up being told "it's a woman's prerogative to change her mind".

however, after some ill-fated discussions,, i would advise you not to offer that line, girls. it's much less helpful than you'd think... : )
Or, "I'm blonde."

Yeah, right. I'm blonde too and have used that line but here recently been rethinking that. I'm not stupid. Ditzy maybe, but not stupid. LOL :) Besides, my blonde hair has some silver. I've earned that. LOL It shines. LOL

Not really sure how to say this, but I'm tired of not posting because I'm afraid of what people will say, and I'm more tired of being all vague about stuff, so...
I left my husband last Saturday and temporarily moved in with my sister.
I'll have an apartment ready for me and my kids within a week or so.
I'll be filing for divorce.

...that about sums it up.

Oh, and I just ate a king size KitKat in under 3 minutes.
So...yep, that's how life is going.

Through, I'm glad you posted , I've been thinking about you and your kids. Since we don't know what your marriage was like, I would hope no one says anything other than to offer you support and prayers.

Sorry about the typing, I'm on my phone.

Ok..let me run something by you all..if you have advice or comments I welcome them.
I used to be really really close friends with a guy, years ago. Once when him & his g/f (who shared a daughter together) were really hurting for money and were having car issues,I told him that I was getting some money from the car accident I was in & that as soon as I got paid from it,I'd be more than happy to give him some money if he still needed it.
So not long after,I got my settlement, and we were driving somewhere & he asked me if my offer was still open, and I said of course, how much do you need? He asked for 1K. without hesitation I told him,no problem,I could give it to him later that day,and he was like, when I get a chance I'll pay you back. I told him "listen..I don't expect to be paid back..if you can,fine...if you can't that's fine too...what's important is you have a working car right now for you & the girls, period."

Not too long after this...maybe 8-10 months..him & his girlfriend split up. They shared custody of the child even though they weren't married, and both him & his ex have gone on to marry other people.
I had lost touch with him until I joined face book a while back...he & I have never connected too much since,as he's not really big into face book, and I no longer have an account.

The guy I am staying with at the moment says that this guy has been asking about me for the past month or so & the guy I am staying with has told him my situation, how messed up my life has sort of been in the past few years, etc. The guy I gave the 1K to kept telling him...give me his phone number I want to talk to him. But I've still not heard from him yet.
The guy I am staying with has his number and says.."Here,you need to call him..and you need to tell him yer' situation and ask him if he can ever repay that money you gave him all those years ago"

I said,"I can't do that,man..that sounds so tacky...it's not like we've stayed close in that time, and what if he doesn't even remember that? I was like 26 around then...so long ago"....He said" Trust me dude,no one forgets someone giving them 1K..just ask him, whats the worst he can do,hang up on ya?"

lol ok..so my question is this...is it wrong or stupid or tacky or ungodly of me to even ask this guy if he could pay me back?
I think I know the answer to this. Hey this is like that head/heart thread...anyways...ummm...
It's not like God hasn't blessed me a hundered fold over the years for helping him out. So I feel kinda selfish.
I mean..yeah,I could desperately use the money now,but is it wrong of me?

Sorry to ramble & sound all pathetic, but I just don't wanna be anything like the servant who was forgiven his debt & then threatened his neighbor for such a pitiful amount. Not that I would threaten him...but I also wouldn't wanna try and guilt someone into "helping" me. Ugh. I need to pray more or something.

Hmm that's tough. I would call him, he might want to offer you it back or help. I guess I'd probably not ask for it back, but if you really need it, you could ask. That would be up to you.

My hope is that he's like, hey dude, I can give you that money you gave me years ago. Or maybe, hey guy, I can't you all of it, but I want to give you something.

Praying for you Jim!

Praying for you and your situation. I know it can't be easy! Since this old friend wants to talk, I think it would be nice if you did get in touch with him.

I don't see anything wrong with asking your friend for help, but as I see it, the money you gave to him is his and you even said he didn't have to pay you back. So in asking him for help, I wouldn't ask for the money back, I would ask to borrow some and see where it goes from there. That's just the way I see it.

I pray the Lord will bless you in whatever takes place. :)

I agree with Fenner. I would give him a call, tell him your mutual friend said he wanted to talk with you, tell him what's going on in your life and give him an opportunity to help you. I don't think I would ask for the money if it were me, but you know him better than I do. If you are comfortable in doing that, it couldn't hurt.

I read and thought about it. Good question and I do understand both where you're coming from and how you feel about the Lord blessing and all.

Only thought that came to mind to share is totally going out on the limb with God. Trusting Him completely. Letting Him know you have a need (and I am sure you have and are doing that) but telling Him, "God, I am YOUR kid. I need YOUR help. I rest on Your Word to supply my need. I know that You know what I need, but Lord I ask that you some how, some way move in this situation and met my need. If it is from this person that I loaned the money to, I ask that you let our paths cross, that you move on his heart and he pays it back. Lord, if that is not how it is to go down, than Lord, I trust you work it out in such a way that I know you are so capable of doing. Through it all, I trust you and I am gonna praise the victory down. Thank you, Lord for hearing my prayer, my heart. And Lord, don't let go of my hand. I'm trusting you completely." In Jesus Name, Amen and Amen.

:) :)
