I expanded upon the school situation to make it more widely applicable Since I work for a Christian ministry, we have what is called the "promiscuity clause." That means we can be fired for how we live outside of work, and I would be fired if I ever got pregnant because it would be assumed that the pregnancy was due to fornication.

Lawsuits should never be the first choice of believers, or any people for that matter, but it is how we can prevent people from doing the same bad thing to others. Also, the context of Corinthians is that they were robbing each other in court, not just pressing charges (there is a difference). In the modern legal system, it's the difference between frivolous lawsuits (bad) and seeking justice (good).

I don't agree with the context issue at allll. lol, there's really no need to get indepth to hash that one out. I don't wanna bump heads with you sis. Just putting out food for thought :p. What a person chooses to do is their choice, none of my business ultimately.

Either way a person chooses to respond, what the school did is wrong.....no denying that. That's interesting on the promiscuity clause. Do they have a drunkenness clause as well? I would find it odd if you couldn't fornicate and keep your job, yet you can go get as hammered as you like with no penalty. lol

That's good insight from your dad, too. The Seahawks appeared faster on a lot of plays, which a term for that is called 'team speed.' Little story for you. The University of Washington Huskies lost to Miami back in mid 80s (1987) and after that loss, coach Don James noticed that the Hurricane players were a step faster than our guys, pound for pound and player for player. After that, James drafted, er, recruited, or, 'scholarshiped,' is the best word, players who were 'faster' than they were 'bigger,' not that they weren't athletic and big , but, speed was the #1 emphasis. And, by that philosophy, the Huskies built a team that went on to be a dominant team in college football the next several years, 1989 starting, including the national championship win in 1991. :)

I work in ministry as well, and while we don't have formal clauses, we are expected to conduct ourselves in a godly way in our private lives, and I think that's a good thing. I'd say the same about the members of a church, or even the students of a Christian school. (Church members living openly in chronic and unrepentant sin need to be confronted in love.) Church discipline and expectations have fallen by the wayside in a sad way in many churches. So while I do think it's wrong to kick a girl out of a school for becoming pregnant, I can see the reason behind it. They don't want other students to think premarital sex is okay. But there has to be a better way to approach this without sacrificing a girl who needs support and encouragement more than ever in her life, while ignoring other students who are also likely having sex. I wonder if the father of the child also went to the school, and if he was dismissed as well.

Hi all! Just taking a moment to let everyone know I survived my nearly 14hr trip to NY.
So yeah. Here I am. Sitting here alone in my friends apartment while he's at work,and grateful in a way to be far from Maine,but still feeling displaced...trying to put on a brave face.

He's not a Christian...actually he doesn't believe in God,but he's always been one of those people that is "ok" with me being a Christian. lol I guess 'cause I've never tried to be all preachy at him or whatever. I think he's one of those well if there is a God then...yadda yadda yadda? Being back here is pretty unsettling in an odd way. Thing's have changed around here for sure,as to be expected.

So yeah,I don't know what I'm saying...I'm just sad...for many reasons...none of which I will go into. Thing's will pan out eventually. I won't be here long. God is faithful.
Just wanted to say hi.:)

but, yeah, I explained the UW, but, then was explaining Coach Carroll's philosophy with the Seahawks for their success, and, one other thing that greatly contributed to a championship season.

Seahawks philosophy of coach Pete Carroll was not only speed, but, also, even more emphasized was 'winner' mentality. Carroll drafted, picked up (free agent) players who wanted to win and would do whatever it takes to win, and, along with that 'mental toughness' sought, was physicality went for by Coach C.
Denver's receivers in SB were scared of running crossing routes in the middle of the field by the end of the first half, because of our secondary, including, proof, Denver running back ,Knowshon Moreno. He was hit so hard in the ribs in the 2nd quarter, crunched by two of our secondary guys, that he didn't even want to go out there again after that. And, didn't, he chose to stand on the sidelines than play in the rest of the SB.
That was a huge hit--pun intended--to Denver's chances right there, in the 2nd quarter, with Moreno no longer a threat running, our defense could totally concentrate on sacking Manning and expecting the pass.
Carroll also spent time in Watts, south side of LA, of drugs, gang, and, helped kids a lot; this kind of sacrifice I think was seen by many players, and, that earned him respect with a lot of players, he did things in Seattle too but we just don't have gangs like LA. But, all the players were 'in' on his philosophy. Bought in to his tougness and mentality goals and this started 4 seasons ago when he and team president John Schneider began drafting players and getting free agents . We should be good next several years, too, being tied for youngest team in SB.

I get that way, too. If I get overwhelmed I'll shut down. It's not something I want to do, but it's hard when all you can think is "I can't do this I can't do this" and you're internally in freak-out mode. I do a digital academy so if I get too stressed I can walk away and take a breather, or I can get tutoring. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like you have that option.

Sometimes learning difficulties can, well...be difficult. But learning difficulties don't equal disaster. :) Everyone has a unique way of learning. Some methods will work for certain subjects, and others won't. I think if the teacher is willing to realize that, then you all will be able to get somewhere.

That is terrible that they're giving you a hard time. I truly hope that they realize that sometimes, you cannot avoid divorce. Not that divorce is great, but sometimes, you're left with no other option. God knows that. They should, too. No condemnation in Christ. :)

yeah, i would agree that moreno's hit was a turning point. i really am sort of surprised when people called this superbowl boring or not good. there were a few plays (you know which ones) that were truly exciting moments.

my primary shared hobby with my dad has been sports since i was a little girl. he was taking me to candlestick when i was 7. he's a big 49'ers fan (growing up in the bay area) and stanford since he played for them. it's been a cool bonding thing for us, because he had a lot of travel associated with his job, and eventually so did i. so we started this tradition of going to as many different stadiums as we could, and of course enjoy the games, mostly baseball and football. i have some amazing memories. for example, one year he surprised me for my birthday with tickets to the inaugural game when camden yards first opened, which incidentally occurred on my birthday. and we always plan a trip during march madness. i've lost count on the stadiums, but it's been a fun way to meet up and enjoy hanging out together.

so yeah, i have this massive amount of sport info/stats that i've passively acquired over years and years. hopefully it's not displacing info that i actually need... : )

You can't do it, nor, are you supposed to; He wants us to rely on Him, the trials of our life are for our growth in our Christian walks and serving Him so we can persevere. 'Persevere,' that's a big word, and, 'suffering' is in it, and, we are to experience suffering when we are going through trials in life, through that "testing of our faith," as James 1:2-3 tell us. God shuts us down, sometimes, too, with sickness, or, a loss of a job, or, friend, even, so we can get away and go to Him and see what He's wanting to start us up on next, or, just refresh us, so, that we can continue with what we were doing and not blow up.

Go to Him when things are overwhelming and He will be there to get you through the trial, through the test, for our Lord God Jesus knows perfect to bless :)

Anyways. I'm applying for financial aid right now. I kind of wish I knew what my school guidance counselor is doing. Because he hasn't sent out my transcripts. Not good. I mean, I know I'll be done hopefully by early to mid next month. But. Until then...can we PLEASE get this show on the road? I wanna go to colleeegge. Finally get a bit of independence and a good education. Learn some important life lessons. Well that actually doesn't sound so fun. Anyways! I wanna go to college. Make new friends (not boyfriends, though. Go to college to get a well-rounded education, not a romantic interest)!

The Lord leads, littleC. Zero your focus on Him, for everything, boys included, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Times will be a-changin' for you in college, from homeschooling to there, but, God will be there with you every step of the way if you are with Him. And, your gifts are a-plenty, musically, and, otherwise, so, don't get doubt for a second to have faith that God has 'great' plans for you, milady, way beyond this coming blip in time called 'college' that, in it, if you listen and obey and sacrifice and follow, will be greatly rewarded :)
