Probably misled by institutional church. I once was misled too.
Sabbath is one of the greatest gift God gives mankind but see how it's interpreted as devilish manmade doctrine now. In the old days God blessed the Sabbath and commanded His people to keep it holy. His people desecrated it and ended up losing the rest and became slave again in Babylon.
Many don't have the freedom to rest on Sabbath. Many who do have the freedom choose to rest on other days and do earthly things on the Sabbath. If this is not bondage I don't know what it is. Some might say it's freedom, I'd say following the pattern of this world is not freedom. We are but slaves.
Exodus 20:1-2 KJV
(1) And God spake all these words, saying,
(2) I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

These verses are a part of the ten commandments. They were to keep the law of God because they were brought out of bondage.

John 8:33-36 KJV
(33) They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
(34) Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
(35) And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
(36) If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

What Jesus is teaching is in line with the OT, in the NT as in the OT we keep the Law because God has freed us from bondage.

If you claim we should observe Sabbath because it is current law, then you misunderstand the work of the cross. Jesus came to fulfill the law. This means we do not need circumcision of the the penis, but circumcision of the heart. We no longer need to sacrifice animals as Christ is the ultimate sacrifice. We no longer need to cover ourselves with a talit (Jewish prayer shawl) when we pray because Jesus covers us in His blood. We no longer need to observe Sabbath as a law because Christ is our Sabbath.

Hi Danschance

I'm relatively new to CC and I agree that Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial laws when He died on the cross, but it seems to me that the 10 Laws that God wrote in stone are still standing. I don't see in our society where it is o.k. to kill, steal, etc. As far as I can tell people still get arrested for those things. There is nothing wrong or changed about loving God with our whole hearts and worshipping Him, He asked that we put no idols before Him... (me with my shopping and you with sports? just guessing), He still wants us to honor our parents, adultery is still a no no, bearing false witness against people still not good and coveting what the Jones has not nice. So I agree that Jesus fulfilled the sacrificial laws but the ones written in stone He kept Himself. Truly not trying to prove a point I'm just stating the obvious. Have a blest day and love in Christ. ldroy

Well said. I'm new to CC as well, and although I have not kept the Sabbath, after reading here I want to know more about it. Observing on this thread which ones speak as though they are at peace with God, and ones who speak as they're not, having zero respect for the OP's intent, misrepresenting (whether deliberate or not) arguing, etc, even nonbelievers recognize rude. Didn't Paul say to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling? If scripture is speaking in one's heart, shouldn't one listen? It is one of the 10 Commandments, so what makes some say such mean spirited things to observers? Curious.

And Moses went up unto God, and the*Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

So Moses went down unto the people, and spake unto them.

And God spake all these words, saying,

I am the*Lord*thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the*Lord*thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the*Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.

2*For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; TheLord*of hosts is his name.

3*I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.

4*Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;

5*I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.

6*Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.

7*They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

8*Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

9*For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

10*Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

11*For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

12*Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.

13*Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

14*All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? TheLord*hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.

15*I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

16*Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord*God, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

17*Thus saith the*Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the*Lord*thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

18*O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:

19*Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.

20*Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The*Lord*hath redeemed his servant Jacob.

21*And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.

22*There is no peace, saith the*Lord, unto the wicked.

A sign between God and man is not the same as a seal or a mark being placed on a man’s forehead. The seal of God that is placed on believers has nothing to do with whether or not one observes the Sabbath on Saturday or Sunday but instead whether one has that circumcision of the heart that comes with being born again! Isn’t it time you leave this guess work theology that places the traditions of men above the word of God behind and search for truth?
Isaiah 8

16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. Not the Jews alone but His Disciples
.
20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them

What time period do you think this is ?
Isaiah 66
22 For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain.
23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.
24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

Perpetually. From one new moon to the next new moon, from one sabbath to another sabbath. That's how I read it.

Its the millennium reign of Jesus, Where all nations every month at their appointed time will come and worship Him. Then, they will look through a hole in the Earth and see those that are being tormented in the flame of hell fire for rejecting Him.

Revelation 21
The New Jerusalem
22I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it.

Logistically, how could this possibly ever happen? How could millions or billions of people from all over the world travel to Jerusalem every week to observe the sabbath?

Galatians 4
Example of Hagar and Sarah
21Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? 22For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman. 23But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise. 24Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. 25Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia;e she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. 26But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. 27For it is written,

“Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear;
break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than those of the one who has a husband.”

28Now you,f brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. 30But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” 31So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.

In the scriptures, even when the Hebrew people were in the wilderness before they were in the land of Israel, they were required to keep feasts and the Sabbath days. When they were given manna to eat they were instructed to collect twice as much on the day before the Sabbath.

In Genesis, God said that the sun and the moon were for times and seasons, days and years. It would seem that even in the wilderness, (and when they were in captivity,) since they did not have calendars they kept track of days and months in the same way.

My point was, how could weekly visits to Jerusalem of all people from all over the world logistically happen? It would be impossible.

Hi Karraster - I hope you will check out and learn about the Sabbath usually celebrated from sundown Friday to sundown on Saturday. When I was a child I thought I was in prison not being able to do anything fun (from a kids point of view) on the Sabbath. As an adult it is wonderful to put work and the world aside to think about the love of God and wonderful gifts He has given us in the sacrifice of His Son Jesus saving us from our sins. It is a peaceful, comfortable time with God and such a blessing.
