Lol. Forty-three chapters of nonsense to "prove" a heresy. I'm j/k about following suit. From the SDA's inception around a false prophecy, they were following a false prophetess who twisted scripture, plagiarized other people's work, and made up nonsense.
There's always a group of the simple-minded and easily deceived to follow a false prophet. It's certainly been that way throughout U.S. history which has spawned more than a fair share of them. Mormons, Seventh Day Adventists, Children of God, Scientologists, Heaven's Gate, Branch Davidians, Twelve Tribes, People's Temple, Christian Science, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc... on and on it goes, one apocalyptic cult train wreck after another.
And it's amazing how many of these cults release their own reworked "Bible's" and "testaments" in which they've systematically twisted and misinterpreted scripture to align with their false prophets/prophetesses.

True Josh. It's just you see these people programmed from childhood with lies and fear and you just shake your head at how a perfectly normal person could have gotten so misprogrammed. William Miller and Ellen G. White and her band of merry fools have a lot to answer for in misleading so many people. Are you aware of the freemasonry connection?

I believe there is a demonic component too. I knew a small cult and the leader, a man named Doug Perry, heard the voice of "god" which was a demon. Once you got into his cult you would also start to hear the voice of "god". This voice often directed it's members to leave their current spouse and re-marry another in the cult. The whole time the felt certain God they were being obedient to God. The bible allows for divorce, but they were getting divorces with no biblical grounds. This means they were committing adultery.
So their can be a real, potent and destructive demonic influence in a cult that can be very spiritually destructive when it is embraced.

The bible is our gold standard. We can compare what a person teaches to it, to determine if they are teaching truth or lies.
Does Seventh Day Adventurism square with the word of God? I am certain SDA's are sincere, decent people and they would say "Certainly our teachings square with the bible". The Jehovah's Witnesses and every other cult would say the same thing.

Ellen White, in one of her seizures in which she contradicted scripture yet again, wrote, “I saw that the Holy Sabbath is, and will be, the separating wall between the true Israel of God and unbelievers” (Early Writings, p. 33; emphasis added). She also wrote of some Adventists failing to understand that “Sabbath
observance was of sufficient importance to draw a line between the people of God and unbelievers" (Ibid., p. 85).
This nutty woman said that Sabbath observance would be the “line of distinction” in the “final test” that will separate God's end-time people who “receive the seal of God” and are saved, from those who “receive the mark of the beast” (The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan, p. 605).
That's what this is all about. A nutty woman who dropped out of school in the third grade to informally study at home believed in George's false prophecy so much that she couldn't accept it for the false prophecy it was so she purveyed her trauma induced seizures as visions from God, plagiarized other people's work, and made stuff up to sell to disaffected followers of George's false prophecy. A small band of deluded people emerged twisting scripture to her nutty statements and then had kids and mistaught them to believe her nonsense as if it were second only to the Word of God. You're one of them. Remove the false prophetess from among you and return to orthodox Christian exegesis.
It's obvious from Revelation 13 that the eighth king is plainly Nero, in whom the nature and the destiny of the antichristian empire were embodied. Both share in the likeness of the dragon (Satan), both oppose the Lord in his people, both belong to the “abyss” and both are doomed to suffer the fate of those who make war on the Lamb (Rev 16:14).
But one major difference is apparent in the representations of the antichrist in Revelation 13 and Revelation 17: in the former the empire receives a boost from the antichrist, so that all in the world, apart from those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life, receive the mark of the beast and worship him (Rev 13:8, 16–18). You'd have to be grossly misled to think the mark of the beast represents worshipping God on Sunday.
In Revelation 17 the fears of many are fulfilled, and the Christ of Satan persuades the kings of the East to join him in attacking “Babylon the Great,” and the city is destroyed and burned with fire (Rev 17:15–17). Such is the outcome of the emperor cult. The beast and his allies remain in the hand of the God they defy, and by the impulse of the devil they fulfill the words of God (Rev 17:16–17; on this see Bauckham 1994, 329–417).
John was asserting a real person, a Nero, to fulfill the role of the antichrist. He utilized the current expectation to portray the works of the antichrist as those of another Nero, and that for a good reason: Nero was the first Roman emperor to persecute the Christian church, and he did so with such bestial cruelty as to provide a pattern for the beast of Satan to follow in his war with the Lamb (Rev 11:7–10; 13:7; 17:12–14).
By his presentation of antichrist as another Nero, John has made it clear that the cult of the emperor is a projection of what will take place when the seeds of its beginning reach their full harvest. It could not be otherwise. The emperor cult was a deification of power. History, not least in the twentieth century, shows that such deification is capable of reappearing with appalling results.
The mark of the beast on non-Christians is a counterpart of the seal of God on Christians (7:1–8); both show the allegiance of an individual, whether to God or the devil. The immediate effect of demanding that all receive the mark of the beast is the social ostracism of those who refuse it, and it entails economic warfare by the state against the church, with death to those who do not comply.
The mark is described as the name of the beast or the number of his name. Many ancient languages did not have figures for numbers but used instead the letters of the alphabet (a = 1, b = 2, c = 3 and so on). This made it possible for a name to be represented by the number obtained through adding the numerical values of the letters of the name. For example, there is a piece of graffiti on a wall in Pompeii which reads, ‘I love her whose name is 545’.
Doubtless the young lady knew whose name that was! So also despite the many possibilities that the number 666 yields, it is virtually certain that the individual thereby indicated was known in all the churches addressed by John, and probably far wider. The name Nero Caesar transliterated into Hebrew from Greek yields the number 666. If it is put into Hebrew from Latin it gives the number 616, which is read in some early manuscripts of Revelation. The number would have been seized on in apocalyptic circles where Hebrew (the language of the OT) was known. For Christians, 666 was an eminently suitable figure for the antichrist; it represents a consistent falling short of the divine perfection suggested by 777, whereas the name Jesus in Greek totals 888.
χάραγμα occurs frequently in Revelation and also once in Acts 17:29. Paul, in Galatians 6:17 applies the word for these brands, στίγματα, to the marks of Christ's service which he bears in his body. In 3 Macc. 2:29, we read that Ptolemy Philopator required all the Jews of Alexandria to be registered among the common people; and that those who were thus registered were to be marked (χαράσεσθαι) on their persons by the ivy-leaf symbol of Dionysus (Bacchus). In Leviticus 19:28, the Israelites are forbidden to make cuttings in their flesh for the dead and to print marks (γράμματα στικτὰ) upon themselves.
It's obvious this is the Great Tribulation (Mt 24:21) or the time when the Antichrist (or first Beast of Revelation 13) rules the entire earth. The second beast of Revelation 13, also called the False Prophet (Rev 16:13; 19:20; 20:10), will put in place a system of total control. They will attempt to brand every human with a mark that is needed for commerce. Obviously, without being able to buy or sell anything, you are not going to function in society or last long.
It has nothing to do with what day of the week someone worships God on and if an imaginative disappointed false prophetess had worked for a living instead of lying around inventing fanciful conjecture in a desperate attempt to make up a way out of George's false prophecy, there wouldn't be a few million deceived followers of her still believing it..

The SDA cult is amiss in teaching their children that only SDA cult members professions, prayers, and exhortations are pleasing in the sight of God and that all other Christians in the world's "professions, prayers, and exhortations an abomination in the sight of GOD" (Spiritual Gifts Vol 1­p. 189).

This is why many people hold that the reference is to either Nero (e.g. the numerical value of 'Neron Caesar' when it is spelled in Hebrew letters) or Domitian, both of whose names and titles can with a little ingenuity be written in a form whose letters yield the sum of 666 (or, spelled differently, the "six hundred and sixteen" that is found in some manuscripts).
This would make sense of the statement that the second beast had the authority of the first beast (Rev 13:12), since both these emperors are known to have engage in the wide sweeping persecution of Christians. Domitian’s number would thus identify him as another Nero (E. Stauffer has suggested that the number derives from an abbreviated form of Domitian’s titular name, spelled in Greek).

On a purely historical note, Irenaeus (second century A.D.) identifies the antichrist with Lateinos, the Roman Empire, or Teitan, the ancient name of royal dignity belonging to a tyrant (Haer. 5.25, 30) while Hippolytus (third century) wrote that the antichrist would arise from a revived Roman Empire to become the accepted Messiah of the Jews who persecutes the church, combining a person who is a political tyrant with a person who is a false prophet (Hippolytus Dem. Chr.).

There is a common trait shared by all or the vast majority of Christian cults where they claim to be the sole bearers of the truth and apart from their group there is no salvation granted, except perhaps to a few. Anyone who hears a person claim that their church is the most true, most correct and salvation comes from following their dogma must be viewed with extreme suspicion.
The Mormons claim to be the only true church which has been restored by Joseph Smith. IN the first vision account of the false prophet Joseph Smith he claims to of asked God which church to join. Then he found himself in front of "heavenly Father" and Jesus. Jesus told him:

The Mennonite's believe they are they only true church on earth. "“God has made no covenant with any other church”.
The Seventh Day Adventist church believes Ellen G White restored the truth. They alone have discovered the real secret to being saved--by observing all ten commandments especially the Sabbath. Those who do not keep the Sabbath take the mark of the beast.

The Mormons claim to be the only true church which has been restored by Joseph Smith. IN the first vision account of the false prophet Joseph Smith he claims to of asked God which church to join. Then he found himself in front of "heavenly Father" and Jesus. Jesus told him:

That is a very common characteristic of the cults danschance. It helps them feel "special" in their deception and fear. One of the reasons the SDA has been so critical of non-SDA members that left their church (whom they never criticized when they were going along with the "program") and non-SDA Christian churches has to do with isolating members and retaining them. SDA leaders that left the SDA cult came under harsh judgment and criticism by the very cult that used to speak highly of them. This was deliberate and a warning to all members that would leave the heresy of SDA for a genuine exegesis of the Bible.
It is a fact that cults isolate people and punish, in one way or another, any who dare to leave and speak against their false doctrine usually saying that they will be judged by God or will lose God’s best if they leave. The "special" only true church approach is wielded by every cult.

The trouble I see sometimes is how cults do start it is out of fear and causing men to stumble and doubt. Something Paul strongly condemned. Take the SDA they are basically saying that if you worship on a Sunday its the mark of the beast. Well Paul says in Romans
[h=1]14 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.
5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. To me this seems, and I wanted to show the whole passage as it indicates those who are weak in faith and those who are strong! That anyone who judges others for eating wrong foods or celebrating on different days etc etc is WEAK in the faith and he who is convinced of his freedom is strong. Interestingly these cults prey on the doubting and vulnerable and make them into who knows what.
I find cults abhorrent as to me if anyone judges another person they are committing a far greater sin. I do believe in Matt 7 Jesus has quite a lot to say about judging.
7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
There is a danger to become like Pharasees who were nice and clean on the outside but inside well Jesus didn't mix his words on that.
So many Christians have views on other Christians and the sad thing is "what you do to the least of these you did to me" they think doesn't apply as they believe they are the only christians when infact maybe just maybe if they read scripture they might think ouch we might not be following Christ after all!!
