I never said preach. if you read original post i said teach. there is a definite difference between preach and teach. It is because of cultural refrences we assume that the pastor preaches. every sunday up in front (which should not always be but thats a different topic) instead i said teach which i believe that women should not teach.
Cor.14: 34-35 "women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church." This passage is clear - women should not speak publicly therefore cannot be a pastor in the church.
again. assuming that your pastor is the one infront of the church body teaching you every sunday a women should not be a pastor. women should definetly be sharing the gosple but should not be infront of the church body teaching or preaching. another thing that is not clear and im not really gonig to go into this but if a women is teaching a body of women is that ok? (i personally believe so because it says that the older women should teach the younger women in faith... but anyways.)
um.. levi, the title of the post is "Women Preachers"... it's funny how you said.. I never said preach.. and right above it says "Woman preachers".. and u started this thread ... :p:p:p

GOD, CREATED MAN FIRST, THEN CREATED WOMAN
HEAD OF THE FAMILY IS MAN NOT WOMAN
HEAD IS GOING TO CONTROL THE BODY, BODY IS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE HEAD
SO,WOMAN HAVE TO SIT SIMPLY IN THE CHURCH TO HONOR THE LORD
MAY GOD BLESS U

I need to look up the reference for this, but there is a passage where Paul gives guidelines to women speaking in church, like she has to have her head covered and some other things. I know in 1 Tim. he says women need to be silent in church and aren't permitted to speak in church, but why would he give qualifications for women speaking in church if he didn't believe it was okay? Is it possible that it was okay in certain churches but not others?

I feel to disagree to some views like of nazarite nation. When i agree that the bible says NO WOMEN PREACHERS we should also difine two things PREACHING and TESTIFYING. Our lives should be testimonies to the unbelievers and the way we talk is a testimony the way we handle neighbors should be a testimony to all.
I believe a woman has virtues enough thro the above mentioned ways to spread the gospel to the utmost parts of the world.
But preaching, that is TAKING UP A BIBLE and give out a sermon to a congregation of men, women or mixed group is PREACHING.
Thats not testifying. and a WOMAN should not do so according to 1 COR 14 and the book of TIMOTHY.
I agree many WOMEN are preaching and taking the crowds of many even having miracles and signs in their midst. But did JESUS said that many will come to me that day and say did we preach the gospel and healed the sick? But He said
"GO AWAY YOU WORKERS OF INIQUITY I EVEN NEVER KNEW YOU. GO TO THE ONE YOU SERVED."
Its true they may be preaching but who do they serve?

Hi All!

There is also one thing here..

the issue of inferiority/superiority..

I believe the bible very clear.. that the role of Pastor and Deacon is for a man.. but this does not mean that makes them 'superior' to women.
A woman could be leader of Women's Ministries and have more people under them, more things to manage.. so there would be no inferiority to this role.
Just distinction in what is orderly and decent in Jesus' assemblies. Woman can have great roles and intensive roles in these churches.. complementing the role of the man being a Pastor. Not unequal or superior/inferior.. just what men and women are best at doing by God's design and biblical direction.

Of course this is all based on holding scripture as the ultimate authority on the matter.. and not humanism or experience.. if you don believe the scripture is the Word of God.. then the whole thing falls down.. cos there is no foundation.. just subjective arguments.

But I would prefer to have a forum of open discussion.. not two seperate ones..
as in real life.. conflicts happen, issues rise.. it is whether people are going to humble themselves enough to let God's Word be the ultimate authority or shake their fist and rely on human experience.

I like your explanation SnoBoarder.

In the KJV, Peter's verse about women states that women are the weaker vessel. Vessel refers to body and women in general do have weaker bodies than men or to be 'PC' - bodies that are not as strong.

I will also make the point that in Peter's day, the gospel could not be microwaved or served with french fries like it can be today...especially in America. Preachers were beaten, shipwrecked, in trouble from countrymen and bandits, etc. Back then, you could not broadcast from the safety of your living room to 2/3 of the populated world.

To add, you will also find something interesting in places like India and places like Africa, where 'Christ crucified' brings persecutions, burnings, and violence - women do not preach or teach or lead. Along those same lines, you also find in America that when a spirit of violence breaks out - the word 'covering' appears.

This is what I believe is a true statement, but I have to be careful hoping I do not sound misogynist or pro-violence, but the greatest premise of feminism is a non-violent culture - which is why it has not taken roots in autocracies or certain governments throughout the world. It usually rests in democracies or governments with legitimate power sharing.

Maybe I should go to India, Inhissteps has just informed me that in India, there are women preachers and women priests. I have never heard nor seen any, but I guess I may have been off on that fact.

I am inclind to agree with RoboOp and others it does say clearly that a woman is to learn in silence and that she is to NOT to have authiorty over the man as The man is the head of the House as Christ Is The head of the church. Now that Being said..It does also say in the bible That God, The living God I serve is no respecter of persons..Man or female and that we are NOT to touch his annoited..So if God appoints a woman to pastor over a church who are we..To tell God that Hes wrong?..Aren't we playing God if we do that? Thats a game I do NOT wish to do..or try to tell..I personally for my prefernce chose a man over a womans preaching only cause I feel confterable. And I am one of those people If you Follow the bible..You should be able to Serve God however you feel..
Heres the verses for my theory..
1st Peter 3:1-2 WIVES, Likewise, Be submissive to your own husbands, That even if some do Not obey the word, They, without a word, may be won by the conduct of there wives, Verse 2: When they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.
1st Timothy 2:11-13 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12: And i do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, But to be in silence. 13: For Adam was formed First, Then Eve.

Ok! So yea basically its all been settle by the word of God, no more opinions, just word...Men and women equal, men different responsibility, supposed to be heads, women supposed to be submitted to the head, Men - Able to preach the gospel and callled to preach the gospel, women able to preach the gospel, but unlike men, not called, That doesn't lower value or make God a respector of persons, its just merely Romans 12:4 - 13 being shown, how we being many members of one body, have different purposes, but that doesn't make one member less valuabe, I'm not quiet sure where its found, but the head can't say to the feet, I don't need you or the mouth to the hands...something with that principle...anyways Women are not less than men, they have a different purpose...and there's no reason for Godly ladies to fight that purpose when it's given by God for you, it identifys you, and even if you don't like it, No way do you have the right to argue with God, or try to question his judgement...read Romans 9:20-21, he's the one who made you, and he gives you value and purpose, you don't find purpose, you find God who gives you purpose...and mens purpose and responsibility is to preach to the church, women...read the bible for your responsibility and don't get stuck on preaching...and realize that while you try to invest time in preaching when its not your responsibility to be a preacher, but to be pulling your end of the load somewhere else...if I knew what that something esle was I would tell you, but I've never studied it and can't tell ya, me being a man! Lol, oh and when God says your not permitted to preach, plently of the people here have giving you the definition of what preaching means, so check it out, because yea women are capable or able to preach, but they are not called, so yo I love you ladies, and so does God's word, so minister, testify!, glorify, no-one is caping your potential...

Dear Kmra girl,

My problem with the post is not the actual content and as I see you have backed it up with scriptures, . I do have a problem though in the way that you have become obssessed with this!! When you enter a chat room you start your conversation with NO WOMEN PREACHERS , a trifle immiature I feel, to say the least . We all have things that we consider to be right and others see them as wrong or vice versa ,but its the approach we take when debating them which counts, I agree in being ritcheous yeh, but not obsessed, can I make a suggestion KRMA ......maybe it would be more tactful and mature of you to actually start a conversation and get to know the believer before coming out with your opinions ,,,,, God BLess you

1Co 14:34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says.
1Co 14:35 If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

oh lol.. ahah why did i go offshore? lol yeah i meant to say...

um.. it maybe kinda way too imaginative but. we really can't help it.. those single women,. who dont have families.. let's say they live on their own.

should they just be quiet for the rest of their lives? does that life make sense when they face Jesus?
