are the people who use horoscopes to make stock market decisions practicing astrology? or do we make excuses for that too?
You're kidding. What the heck do horoscopes have to do with pharmaceuticals? And you obviously totally disregarded my point about if the word pharmaceutical alone defines medicine as having to do with witchcraft, all medicine is about witchcraft. This is a ridiculous premise on which to base an argument against the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes.

i posted the scripture above but maybe you missed it...here it is again...

genesis 3:18..."Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field;"

this verse appears in the passage where God is announcing the curse of sin against adam and eve and the serpent...the transition of plants from all being beneficial to some being useless or harmful to humans is the part of the curse i quoted...
Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose.[e]21 And the Lord was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to himself, “I will never again curse the ground because of the human race, even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood. I will never again destroy all living things.22 As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.” Genesis 9:20-22

The story of Noah conflicts your 'out of text' verse.

Sorry for doing this, I personally do not believe in the use of marijuana in any form or reason. (This coming from a former drug addict.) But you pasting that verse rubbed me the wrong way... I know you take it as the plants and ground turned evil, but the way I take it is. God had given adam and eve a gift of leisure. They did not have to work for food, it was handed to them. After they abused their gift God took it away to show them what He originally gave them. To show them of their sins... So now they will work their fingers to the bone trying to gain 'food', but only gaining 'thorns and thistles'.

Medical use of 'Mary Jane'.
- Funny how all those who currently subscribe to it were once driving or riding in VW vans with lost roaches stuck in their beards; - on their way to another Greatful Dead concert.
- - If THC is a relief for eyeball pressure(those with cataracts), - let it be done by milligrams(pills).
- - - Cannot you see the reason for the legalization of Pot yet folks?
- - - - It called drugging the masses, - (After the industrial revolution).

I agree. I don't smoke marijuana because it makes people stupid and is also escape into a false dreamworld. I don't need it for pain relief either, but for people that use if for that reason, it's just plain dumb to say they're practicing witchcraft by using it. It's also dumb to claim that people have only used it for that reason in the past. Again, people have used it because it gives them a false sense of well-being, which hardly has anything to do with purposefully practicing witchcraft. Also, if I take Amoxicillon for my bronchitis, are you're telling me I'm practicing witchcraft? I can't believe I'm even entertaining this argument.

- Well, you do have an owl with a cape.
Not only have you brought back your green bug eyed black cat, but you have introduced an owl with a cape into your avatar.

I find it ironical how some people will be against (legal) Cannabis, but have no problem using other strong painkilles.
I don't know how it is in the US, but here, the majority of the accidents in traffic caused by substances are from prescribed medicine....

that being said, cannabis in itself is not as innocent as it might seem. If a person know they get easily addicted, they should stay away from it.

Nice to hear from the politically correct double talk forum in this debate.

- - Who said that?

- Thanks for the strong input that didn't go one way or the other.

as one who has smoked marijuana,.. I can say I see no effectual medicinal purposes for marijuana,..what I have experienced is a sense of paranoia in different stages, the loss of effective thinking skills in some areas while under the influence of it, and just an overall high feeling,..nothing good, nothing medicinal. hasn't helped any pain or coping with pain. I don't see how it can free-up the tensed joints from symptoms of arthritis,.. how has it really helped?

the point was that thorns and thistles are not beneficial...so due to the sin of adam and eve it can no longer be said that all plants are beneficial to us...

consequently...pointing out that God created the cannabis plant does not prove that it is ok to consume cannabis...

you keep misrepresenting my point...either deliberately or because you just don't get it...i don't know which yet...

amoxicillin has not been used for thousands of years in pagan pharmakeia rituals...so there would be no reason to call it witchcraft...

it seems like it is very difficult for a lot of people to grasp the key point of this issue...

what drugs cause more car accidents is not at issue here...the issue is what drugs are spiritually harmful...

if you know of any specific 'other strong painkillers' that have been used for thousands of years in pharmakeia rituals like marijuana has...then name them...

Peyote.
Opium.
Salvia Divinorum.
Distilled vegetable/fruit

So you are saying the effects of the fall have spawned these plants?
- You are probably onto something Rachel.
I always thought it strange that a righteous man like Noah would get drunk.
- I think it might have been the difference in the atmosphere from pre to post flood.

- - But you have to admit, a badly injured person reaps a benefit from opium as a painkiller.
I still think there is a purpose for them.

Also, the distilling process takes yeast(a type of sin), so certainly there are some flags raised.

I don't smoke marijuana, so I'm not defending it. My issue is that it's ridiculous that we tag a drug as having to do with witchcraft if the people using it aren't practicing witchcraft. Makes Christian's out to look like a bunch of fanatics who see demons behind every door. I've known people who smoke marijuana. I've never agreed with it, but I've also never ever seen a person who smokes it act like they're demon possessed. If anything, they just act happy/goofy, and sometimes a bit paranoid.

You cannot in any way prove marijuana is spiritually harmful. You're claiming it was used for magical practices thousands of years ago. How would you know that? Besides, that doesn't prove anything anyway. When a person practices magic, they know what they're doing and they're doing it on purpose. No one practices magic by accident.

In scandinavian school it is part of the education to study about cannabis and how harmful it can be.
Much damage it can cause as well as addictions it can cause permanent damage.

Use and abuse and where does the line go?

Using it daily may be abuse of substance and addictive and damaging but used for pain relief and or doctors prescription may not be so bad.

People also react differently and marijuana can cause many bad side effects that can take some time to heal.

Many people like to make excuses for addictions they may have if it marijuana, pornography, lollies, daily whisky shot ....
It not good smoke daily and lives become obsessed with it and it becomes beyond a ritual and it is actually a turn off for me if a man smokes pot.
I seen people get up middle of night to smoke it like a baby get milk they get pot and it may not have same effect... in long run.
Not all milk taste as nice and same with marijuana.
People smoke it at work place and do other drugs.
A woman woke up to do cocain and she was mother and did it daily and when a mother puts drugs and men and sex above her children it dont feel good.
She may deny it but action prove other wise.
Child be depressed and all mother thinks of is sex and drugs and her getting what she wants.

I do not think it should be taken as lightly as many take it but should be respected and used wisely and only when prescribed actually.

Heard it given to cancer patients and anorexia patients.
Anorexia and munchies

this is just like saying a person can use horoscopes without practicing astrology...or they can use tarot cards without practicing divination...the motive doesn't change what they are doing...

and yes on the level of marijuana the spiritual effects are mostly restricted to subtle influences such as the feelings of paranoia and the almost invariably new agey philosophical musings...whereas more powerful drugs actually allow people to see and interact with the demons...but i would say marijuana is all the more dangerous for its subtlety...you don't even realize you are open to spiritual attack...like the idea of the frog in gradually heated water...

if marijuana is pharmakeia then it is spiritually harmful according to scripture...

there are lots of records and archaeological data indicating the use of marijuana in ancient pharmakeia rituals...

your last statement basically sums up why so many christians can't handle the truth about marijuana use...nobody wants to admit that they did something God so plainly condemns without realizing it...

You are asking scripture to give us the letter of the law by us step by step what God wants of us. God says that is not the way. God gives us principles to live by with spirit and truth. The Pharisee denomination of Jews tried to do that and Christ scolded them for it.

Cannabis can be used for sin by making you intoxicated. It can also be used for sin by making you addicted to it, and we are not to be ruled by other than God. It can also damage brain cells. We used to hire young men to work for us, and those who used cannabis for recreation became useless as employees. When I checked with doctors about this use for me, I was told that the help it gave nothing compared with the dangers of the drug. There are usually other much safer ways. For instance, biofeedback works wonders for pain and there are no negative side affects.
Well, we can only make such choices as this for ourselves based on our personal relationship with God. Right? Which means by way of the understanding the Holy Spirit gives us? For me, I have no interest in a drug that for any reason could be destructive to my walk with God. With marijuana, at least for me, my observations of others that use it for recreational purposes tells me that it dulls the mind and inhibits the initiative to do things one otherwise knows one should do. So the choice it pretty simple for me. However, when you get into pain control for chronic pain issues, there are definitely drugs prescribed by doctors that very very hard on the body as well as the mind and are also highly addictive. So people with such issues have to decide what they can use that does the least damage but also controls their pain enough that they can experience some quality of life. Now, I've no idea if marijuana actually helps in this category, but I know people that say it's better than some of the alternatives. So I totally reserve judgement in such areas as I'm entirely unequipped to accurately judge.

I've not heard about this bio-feedback thing, but I'm glad to hear it works in various cases.

I'm sorry, Rachel, I just think this is silliness to claim the Bible teaches that smoking marijuana is wrong, at least in the area of supposedly practicing witchcraft by doing so. I sure like most of your comments though! lol.

I would think the disorientation caused by marijuana would cause doctors to shy away from prescribing it.
