Hello! I am also a Christian who is part of the LGBT* group.
I too have read about the history of the few verses that seem to condemn homosexual behavior and how they may or may not have been mistranslated. To me, however, this does not matter.
What matters is the feeling you get when you talk to God about it.
The role He gives every person on Earth is different and unique. Those differences are what make us so beautiful! I have prayed and spoken to God about my sexuality, and everything that I have experienced says that it is just fine to keep doing what I am doing. God has blessed me with a unique role, and I will continue to proudly fill it.
No human has the right to judge another based on how they listen and follow God's word. That is His job.
The Bible is straightforward about what God says about homosexuality, I'm sure adultery, etc. is just a big of sin, if not bigger. But homosexuality is still not God's will. Your feelings have squat to do with it.
Do not
lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.
- Leviticus 18:22
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their
women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the
men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another.
Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. –
Romans 1:26-27
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers
nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. –
1st Corinthians 6:9-10
There are scads of others. Now, you certainly have a right to approve of homosexuality. But don't try to say the Bible supports that, because it just plain doesn't. You'd best choose a different religion if you believe our creator approves of that. Otherwise, you're just ignoring what scripture plainly says. You'll also notice, if you read these scripture, that idolaters and adulterers are listed before homosexuals as not making it into the kingdom of heaven. So they are at least as bad. But that doesn't make homosexuality right. It's still wrong. That's made perfectly clear in scripture.
