These are our best and brightest being outperformed by AI, and no one programmed AlphaGo to play Go, it taught itself. It's strategy was considered ground breaking.

No search engine could do what these things did.

Your distinction is pointless. The computer system that won at Jeopardy would be able to diagnose most, perhaps 95% of illnesses and thus replace a great many doctors. Already we use robots for surgery.

AI is being used to replace telephone operators and is being used to replace accountants, lawyers, artists, musicians, doctors, etc.
Who cares if it is sentient. It can do the job better, faster, cheaper and safer than 80% of the world's workers, then it will replace 80% of the world's workers. They have tested numerous systems in 2023 and now CEOs are saying they plan on maximizing the use of AI in 2024. Tens of thousands of people are being laid off or will be laid off.

Well, if we are to disregard concepts and words then yeah the term AI is pointless.
We might as well become like the left which says that there are a million genders and white is black and black is white and there's no meaning in any words or concepts.
So sure, accept AI as fact.

My friend, i think you have a lot of assumptions and concepts incorrectly here.
First of all Elon is against AI and secondly he's against the far left by trolling them with his purchase of Twitter.
He's a great guy in my book.

I like Musk but I'm also pretty wary of him. He's the one developing Neurolink. That might become the Mark of the Beast that is on the forehead? (*Shrug*) But we'll see....

trans humanism is amongst other things, linking human brain and computer systems, here is the proof, yes it can be used for good but wait when this chip connects people to AI... who will benefit from this?

He is doing that to provide competition for the other ChatGPT players on the field. He was also trolling Bezos on Twitter when Bezo's rocket couldn't launch and he was trolling Bezos by saying "he can't get it up". lol
I think he has a great sense of humor and a good approach to confront the crazy world we live in.
Of course anything can happen with him but so far i don't see him as a dangerous figure. I see him as someone who confronts all the woke pervasive stupidity.

AI is replacing "repetitive jobs"

They said they are using it to do the "repetitive jobs". How much of any job is repetitive? I was a teacher, a major portion of my day was grading papers. That is a repetitive job. I would analyze the data to determine how the students were doing and what to do next. AI could have done that as well. My lessons were created and put on a elearning program, once there you could have used those lessons to teach a hundred thousand kids, whereas I as a teacher could only handle 150 a year. At the end of each year I would edit the lessons, but much of that was repetitive. I can easily see how 80% of all HS teachers and college professors could be replaced.

However with AI I don't see the value in 80% of college students paying a couple hundred thousand dollars for that education when AI will perform whatever white collar job they hope to get in 4 years.

Consider restaurants, most of these prepare food in a "repetitive" way. Already there is a McDonald's that is fully automated. It only takes drive through customers. That is a test case, you can be sure as the ROI is demonstrated for the various functions it will be rolled out across the country. I have been to many McDonald's where you order your food via computer, other restaurants are also adopting that technique. One restaurant here in my town uses a robot to bus tables.

Should artificial intelligence be allowed to evolve?
A resounding NO!

We need only look at Washington DC ...to see the reason why.

You have no basis to claim AI will not become sentient in the future. How could you or anyone else do anything more than theorize. To test out the hypothesis we will see what AI becomes, especially when you throw quantum computing in the mix.

The concern right now is how quickly will it replace people. A tool requires a person to operate it. A backhoe is just a big shovel that an operator has to operate. So it didn't so much replace people as give people bigger and better jobs.

But that is not "as true" with AI. These self checkout machines, they can replace 25 cashiers with one person who supervises. However, that is not a "better" job, they are simply "baby sitting" the machines.

Yes, you need technicians to service and fix the machines. But a machine that works 160 hours a week, for six months before needing to be serviced by a technician for 1.6 hours has replaced 99% of human labor. 100 hundred cashiers lose their job and get replaced by 1 technician making the salary of 2-3 cashiers.

We have AI that can program computers. We have AI that is solving very complicated biochemistry problems.

The question is not whether or not AI can replace you, the question is can AI replace 50% of what you do? How about 80%? Because if one CPA with AI can do the job of 10 CPAs, you just got rid of 90% of your white collar workers. Also, as every CPA in the country begins using AI they are training it. What may not seem like a repetitive job to one CPA, when viewed through the eyes of a million CPAs will be seen by AI as repetitive.

The people who keep their jobs by using AI will be training AI to replace them.

It used to be that what determined the best mechanics were those who could diagnose the problem with the car. Now computers do the diagnosis. Also, you don't "fix" cars anymore, you replace parts. in many cases you simply unplug one part and plug in the new part.

They will modify the world to make it best for AI.

For example, the whole "you will own nothing and be happy". If a city had a fleet of identical self driving cars that you could order via your phone, it picks you up and takes you where you need to go. In that situation the city could have garages fit with robots that service this car. AI could monitor every vehicle via the internet, identify issues that need to be addressed, and send the car to the shop to be serviced by a robot. You don't need drivers, you don't need mechanics and for the most part you don't need managers, accountants, or supervisors.

Already Amazon.com is doing just that.

Google is doing just that.

Adidas is doing just that.

Taking into context your nature here, which based on what you've said to me previously is to show others more faith, i am assuming that this is not a fear-based post.
The replacement of humans by machines started since the industrial revolution. It has only made our lives better. So i'm not sure what your point is here? People will be jobless? Not really. People are resilient and in most cases will be retrained.

Also, i am no ruling out that AI will become sentient. That's why i said that when it does, it will be the equivalent of the atomic bomb in terms of discoveries.
For now enjoy your false technical terms which you want to be technical about.

You have to keep in mind that God is in control of all this.

I wonder how far God will let all this go? AI technology isn't bad in itself, but when the Lord Jesus comes back, He's going to regulate it to benefit us and not let it destroy us.

This path that we're on, started since the original disobedience when we wanted to get more knowledge and we immediately became self-aware and ashamed that we were naked when God was calling Adam and Eve.
So everything has a duality for good and evil now. I am part of the group which believes in discoveries being used for good while fully realizing that they will exploided for evil by the military or other people.
Since we have no choice in stopping human progress, at least trying to be on the good side in helping people is better than any other option i think.

I agree. I don't think there is anything bad in AI technology itself - it can definitely be used for good. Trying to scare good people not to use it will just let all the evil people use it for evil purposes.

I actually bought some books to read up on the subject and fiddle around with how to code it so I can come up with good uses for it myself.

This is the beast that is unlike the other beasts we read about in Revelation.

AI is a poor 2nd best choice, in the NT we have "the mind of Christ". That is far superior to the AI that fallen man is creating.

No, this not a fear based post, it is a Bible is true and being fulfilled right before your eyes post.

The beast system is rising out of the sea, no one is going to stop it, no one other than Jesus that is. The honor of destroying this system is His.

People need to realize that the things we see in public are 25 years behind what they have in private. So if you have "ChatGPT" free for all, they have had that for 25 years. The reason they roll it out now is for a variety of reasons.

1. They want to prepare the people for AI

2. They are going to short circuit education, every kid will use ChatGPT for their homework, all the teachers will use it to grade papers, and in a short order it will be the arbiter of truth. People will not have critical thinking skills and they will just treat whatever the AI tells them is true as the "gospel truth".

3. They are collecting data to train AI.

The real question is where will AI be in 25 years because that is the best estimate of what the US government, Israel government and others have right now.

This is more than a guess. 9/11 was done to completely overhaul the military with drones, robots, etc and the data they were getting trained their AI. That means they had already passed the research and development stage in 2001. Initially they trained the robots and drones to identify target individuals. Recently they have given it data to identify all individuals.

The distinction between sentient and non sentient is who is serving who. Do people control the AI or does AI control the people. This thinking has a blind spot. To me the question is which people are controlling AI today? Are they psychopaths? Why do corporations behave like psychopaths? Simply because their goals are all measured in dollars and cents. They calculate the cost of selling a defective product knowing it will kill people, but they determine the cost benefit of releasing it anyway outweighs the liability. This is how these machines that perform various tasks operate. It will be Machiavellian.

No one has the ability to prevent them from being psychopaths. Just like the self checkout kiosk, they do a cost benefit analysis, and then buy them. Some people will lose their jobs, but for most they won't get hired or their hours will be reduced. They will go from full time employees with benefits to part time without. They will quit on their own and then be replaced with more machines. The company does not feel any obligation to their employees, no empathy, simple calculation of which is most profitable and that is why it will act like a psychopath.

Well, i agree in general with what you're saying here because i've also been saying that the Internet itself has been the worst thing for humanity. Worse than the atomic bomb. The atomic bomb killed the flesh but the Internet is killing the mind. People can't think for themselves anymore, there is no common sense, lack of critical thinking, influenced by group-think of peer pressure on a large scale, idiots affecting the majority with ridiculous ideas and just a sheer sense of insanity in terms of thoughts which were contained before the internet.
