But I think I understand why they said that: a super-majority of American Techies are so left-leaning that it might actually be detrimental to what they are doing. Coincidentally, I have been on a couple few field trips to Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) with folks from the USMC - to see how the Army is leveraging CMU as their AI Hub and to explore how CMU is advancing AI in academia... It is abundantly clear, that we (USA) have allowed China to send students to take advantage of our open door education system...
It is very interesting how there are 2-3 levels of perspective in this regard... Only a few of us were more than alarmed at the number of these exchange students who are able to return to their country to help their country advances in this field... I'm aware of the same at Duke etc ... Interestingly, many of the Chinese students are NOT necessarily the cream of the crop... But the sheer absence of checks and balances in acknowledging the inherent Threat and War that we are in...

Yes, I get that there appears to be a slippery slope of UNKNOWNS....
