Exactly, living in a country does not make a person knowledgeable about a country. I can sit in a Cadillac that does not mean I have knowledge or understand how the combustion engine works.
As well, just because one is not a citizen of a country when it comes to Geo-politics, economics etc., etc., one can study and learn about various countries in a very in-depth way going back learning about its history and more.
I find it lazy argumentation to state you do not live here therefore you cannot understand the social, economic, political realities.
Now if you want to know about the views of people in a country then sure you can go speak tothem, live there for a time but again that will only give you a portion of the overall picture of a nation.
