OK, what's with the disdain being shown toward Jewish rituals? Don't we all have different ways of showing our devotion to God? In Romans 14-15, basically the same issue is being addressed. Jewish converts to Christianity are feeling they should hold to the Jewish rituals, while Gentiles are deriding them for doing so.

Romans 14:6: He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.

In like manner, if someone such as Rheod would want to serve God by taking part in the Jewish traditions, why should she be prevented?

Honestly, if ones heart is yearning to celebrate, draw near, and bring honor and glory by getting onboard with the traditions and rituals, I can not find fault. The laws we need to honor, to show Him Him honor, though, are the ones that show Christ in our hearts for God and our neighbors, just as Jesus, the Messiah, told us.

I think celebrating passover is fine if you want to but things like giving to the poor, or visiting a lonely shut in person, or working in a food bank for example would show even greater Glory to God, especially, if like you are saying, it is only because of a sincere effort to draw near to the Lord, to bring Glory to Him.

Hey I am considering becoming a Messianic Jew I was just wondering if anyone on here knew where I could start
What is worthwhile for every Christian to know:

• The first two most important commandments
Love our Heavenly Father with all your heart, all soul, all mind and all strength.
And your neighbor as himself.
So 100% love and faith in the father, in the Lord Jesus and your neighbor.
Do not love half your neighbor, for what is not love is the devil.
• Whoever confesses the Lord Jesus as King and Savior has a eternal life and does not go to trial,
but from death to life
• Who eats my body and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise him up on the last day
Make friends of unfair mammon to receive you into eternal homes in heaven.
Rejoice in the Lord, be modest, simple, and serve to everyone.

I need for someone to clarify what Jews for Christian believe about salvation?
I live in a community where there is a large amount of Messianic Jews from Orthodox to Reformed backgrounds. From my own experience, I can share with you two types of "beliefs" that Jews have that become Christian.

(1) The first group that I'm acquainted with, attend a Messianic Jewish synagogue where they follow Torah, but not the rabbinical laws. They also study the B'rit Chadashah (New Testament). Since these Jews grew up living and studying the Hebraic Torah, they have a great understanding of what Messiah accomplished. So they also accept Gentiles into their congregation (as "grafted in" - Romans 11:17) and teach them what the message of the TaNaK (Old Testament) means, as well as eating Biblically clean, observing God's Appointed Times (4 have been fulfilled in Messiah and the last 3 have not yet been fulfilled by Messiah), etc. I can't speak for other Messianic synagogues, but I know the ones here believe that observing the Appointed Times, and obeying Torah is NOT for salvation (justification), but it is for sanctification (obedience out of love) as the Holy Spirit leads you.

[I will note that there is a spectrum of Messianic Jewish Synagogues out there that do incorporate a some or a lot of the rabbinical (Talmudic) traditions as well]

(2) The second group of Messianic Jewish friends grew up Orthodox or Reformed, but joined a Christian church after they accepted Christ, so they became "grafted into" the Christian faith. They shook off the instructions God gave in the Old Testament (like the dietary laws, observing Shabbat and the Appointed Times), and adopted all the Christian doctrines, traditions and holy days (such as Easter, Christmas, etc.). In contrast to the first group, this group believes that it's not necessary to keep any of the OT commandments any longer because they have been saved "by grace through faith" and no obedience to Torah is needed for sanctification either.

I hope this helps.

======================================
ROMANS 2:28.
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
29.
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter;
'whose praise is not of men, but of God'.
COL. 3:11.
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor un-circumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free:
'but Christ is all, and in all'.

go ahead 'new-agers' fight to your heart's desire, but guess what?
MATT. 5:18.
'For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled.
and to those who have been 'convinced' that 'ALL HAS BEED FULFILLED'???
get out your Bibles and read for yourselves, and please, get a site that interprets the REAL MEANING from the
written HEBREW WORD of GOD...

HEH. 1:15.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of Him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace!
O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee;
he is utterly cut off.

This may also be of help. I realize this is a zombie thread however, there may be those who have arrived as new members who seek answers of this nature. God bless.

What Is Messianic Judaism?
Messianic Judaism is the name given to New Covenant faith in Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah by those who are of Jewish heritage. It also invites into fellowship Gentiles who are called to embrace an expression of faith in Yeshua in a Jewish communal context. One of the most disconcerting things about the separation that has grown between Christianity and Judaism is the belief by Jewish people that Jesus contradicts and opposes Judaism. On the contrary, Yeshua Himself was Jewish, as were most of His first followers and disciples.
Yeshua is the Messiah of the Jewish People. Messianic Judaism is an expression of faith in Yeshua that combines the lifestyle and heritage of Judaism with the New Covenant teachings of Jesus as the only provision for salvation from sin and God’s New Covenant prophesied in Jeremiah 31.
In the early days of the Jesus Movement of the 1960’s and 70’s, young people came to faith in Yeshua by the thousands. Among them were many Jewish youth who were also mostly secular and far away from their Jewish heritage and family faith. There were not many Jewish people in Christian churches that were estranged from their Jewish heritage and identity. Though there have been Jewish believers in Yeshua from the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, a reinvigorated Messianic Judaism emerged in order to embrace the heritage and Jewish roots of new Jewish Believers. Messianic Judaism allowed them to preserve their Jewish identity and grow in their New Covenant faith in Yeshua. Continues Here

Who are Messianic Jews?
Messianic Jews are Jewish in heritage and believe Yeshua (Jesus) is the Messiah promised in the Hebrew Scriptures. Other terms have been used for Jewish People who have placed their faith in Yeshua including “Hebrew Christian” and “Jewish Believer.”
Jesus Himself was Jewish and the New Covenant portrays Him observing Jewish feasts and customs. Yeshua’s first disciples were Jewish, as were the majority of His followers when He was on earth. Continues Here

Lol. The original poster of this thread, if he became a Messianic Jew, is probably a rabbi by now. That was 7 years ago. :)

Do you really think this? Isn't circumcision really just an important ritual and tradition of the law, but still Paul warned against it, for he knew it would bring the believer under the whole of the law? I'm not condeming you, I just wanted to know what your basis is for saying Old Testament traditions and rituals are okay to practice.

Galatians 5:1 - 6

1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Yes, I know. However, I posted because as we know there could be those who seek understanding about this topic that someone else revived. More information is better than none at all.

Well, that was very thoughtful of you.

It's a shame we can't get hold of the OP's email address and email him that we finally have another answer after all this time. :)

If their profile is set to be alerted to new replies via their registered email, they would then know their post has been responded to. That's if that registered email is still in operation.
