Porn can be literally addictive, the same as cigarettes, drugs or alcohol. Therefore you need to treat it like an addiction. Trying to simply will yourself out of it isn't often successful.
Sometimes educating yourself on the facts of porn can be an aid to overcoming it.
One major one is that the porn industry is tied in to the world human sex trafficking organizations. These are the ones that kidnap or trick mostly women, but also lots of young children and teens, to be sold or rented as sex slaves.
These people can be chained up and forced to have sex, and even treated violently, some to the point of torture. So that the people that "own" them can make money. This can go as low in age as babies. That's what porn supports. Also some porn is made using these sex slaves.

For porn itself and how it behaves behind the scenes, not always much better.
One common tactic is advertising for modeling shoots. Often college age girls will show up, usually flying to a city they don't know, just to find out these men are actually making porn.
They'll give her drugs to make her easier to control and manipulate, start a photoshoot like normal. Gradually convince/pressure her into taking nudes photos. Often times they're so fearful, because there are always big, scary looking men to intimidate them into compliance.
Once those are taken they tell her she needs to film herself having sex with one of the men in the room. And if she refuses they blackmail her with the nudes photos they just took. Threatening to release them to her friends and family. Some give in at this point. Those that don't may be threatened physically or even hit.
When they give in what basically occurs is rape. She's expected to show compliance and enjoyment on screen. Then afterwards film a video stating that her part in the video was her own will, and that she was not coerced in any way to be in it. Then they kick them out of the room, sometimes days later, and post her videos on porn sites.

More info like this can be found on fightthenewdrug.org

They show evidences of the negative effects of porn, share the testimonies of former porn workers, prostitutes, sex trafficked individuals, etc... into what really goes on behind the scenes. Usually sharing their personal experiences. It can add quite a bit of motivation to overcome this addiction when you learn how evil the industry is, besides the obvious.

Of course that's only one helpful component and not a fix. So unless God decides to directly intervene and free you, then you will have to be active in your attempts to overcome this. Educate yourself on the matter.
One thing I've learned is when having something to overcome, learn more about it. Learn what's true and what's not. It's great ammunition in your fight.
for some, it’s even more addictive than the ones you mentioned up top. Struggled with it for a decade. Covenant eyes sure helps, along with accountability. Been free of it for over a month now but it’s like once you are free of porn, then women start to come into your life that you can literally be attached to, which I find could be even a worse situation at times. Better to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. I also agree about how motivating it is to quit when you find out you are supporting sex trafficking.

Prayer is an excellent start, but strong desires don't normally simply fade. They generally need to be supplanted by a stronger desire. Psalm 37:4 says that as we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart. A kind of out with the old and in with the new.

Delight yourself in the Lord.

Porn is shown to have a similar type of addiction as a heroin addiction, and to be equally as strong.
Don't be be lulled into safety by such a short time. Addicts can sometimes go a full year believing they are past the addiction, before it comes back full force. Think about that. One year not going near it doesn't even mean you're past it.
Even people that go decades can still get tempted, especially under the right conditions.
Setting one month at a time as a short term goal is good and makes it easier, but keep in mind long term goals are longer than you expect.

Proverbs 4:20-23 My son, pay attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not lose sight of them; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to the whole body. Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow springs of life.

The last time I quit, I didn’t watch porn nor masturbate for almost two years. Then I go to a friends house one day and we watch the movie The Wolf of Wallstreet, and next thing you know, either that night or some night after that, I end up giving in.

Took almost a whole year after that to finally repent and stop everything again. Covenant Eyes is a great app that I think everyone should own though. I have it and I think I have 9 other user accounts if anyone wants to join in on my subscription to it.

I have been struggling with porn for years, and, at age 14/15, that is not a good thing. I was deppressed, I was guilty, and I was suicidal. can anyone help? and pray for me.
more urgently, I feel the pull. of porn. prayer, please.
Yes, I can help you. Repent and keep repenting. As a man who struggled with sexual addiction following childhood sexual abuse, and did so for longer than you have walked this earth, I say again, repent and keep repenting.

God has provided a way out, but you must seize upon this freedom you have been given and make it your own through faith.

Your victory will come, it did for me, but it did not happen over night. It was a very long and difficult battle that only got harder until my breakthrough.

Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness shall be filled. Do you hunger and thirst after righteousness young man? You shall be filled, its a promise. Christ is your righteousness. Fill your life with Christ.

I have three beautiful daughters and two amazing granddaughters. Realizing that those young women in the porn industry aren't just objects but someone's sister, daughter or granddaughter, and that they are clearly victims caught in a satanic trap, definitely gives one a new perspective.
But ultimately, I just couldn't keep hurting Christ. When I truly realized that Christ had never left me, even in the midst of my most heinous sins, and that I was making Him a partaker in those sins, it just wasn't an option for me anymore.

Magenta is a real peach.
Maybe my favorite person on this site.

Also from proverbs chapter 4.
These verses have gotten me through many a temptation over the years.

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

Further down;

The path of the just is as that shining light which shineth brighter and brighter unto that perfect day.

When I started using the Covenant Eyes app, which is a porn blocker/screen surveillance, that is when I started to learning that I was supporting sex trafficking by watching it. After knowing that, it gave me an entirely new perspective as well. I think if that was pushed out more, it would be super beneficial toward society as a whole. Maybe more people would be able to do harder tasks as well, instead of having what I call ‘porn brain’ or what the kids are calling ‘brain rot’ these days.

I definitely appreciate her edification.

These are two verses that I can definitely relate to this past week

Thank you for sharing!

From Colossians 1:9-12 We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have full endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.
