Yes, I would like to own and operate a Retro movie theater to show old films. I would like it to be an experience, the patrons walk in and be transported back to circa 1944. I’d like ushers and usherettes to wear period uniforms, and show a Movietone newsreel and a cartoon before the feature. I’d like the inside to look like an old time movie palace and have a three sided marquis out front. I’ve actually done some research. The films are not that expensive to rent. The key is location- I’d love to have it near the beach to pick up tourist traffic when it is raining and at night. The best way retro movie theaters are able to survive is to serve food- not just popcorn. This makes it a dinner and a movie. I’m not talking about a 4 star menu, but hamburgers, pizza, etc.
Another thing that helps retro movie theaters going is gimmicks- sing alongs, costume contests, amateur talent night, etc.
My idea would be to show nothing past 1969, BUT I might bend it for crowd pleasers like Grease. People love that movie.
I just need the Do-Re-Mi to start. I’d need a lot of capital to begin, as I would bill this as an immersive experience, not just a movie.

I always wanted to try to go into a theater, but I'm not a fan of Operas. At the same time, I like retro movies, but you can just see them on TV.
So, if you are going to do it, good luck in this !
