I was there when I was 16.... in Philly. Williamsburg is right down the road from me. I go often. The recreated colonial part is nice. In the summer they have reenactments. Jamestown settlement is close, and the Yorktown battlefield is only a few miles away. Virginia is one big battlefield and history museum. My father was big on taking us places like that for vacation, instead of the beach. My father was the fire chief at Fort Monroe, which has significant civil war history of it's own.

I'm eastern ky so I'm not too far away. I think it's great that ur dad chose to take u on those vacations. It's my preference. This year will be my first beach trip... sad but true. Lol. I just never fancied it above historical value. But I'll be traveling with my sister's for a girls trip so should be fun. I'm really hoping I can pull them over to Williamsburg on the way. Hopeful but doubtful
I know how to do all the basic housekeeping. I like cooking and baking. I want a man I can dote on. If I were to marry, I would do my best to take care of my husband and any children that come. Oh, I also have books...a lot of em!

My brother (who, btw, is about the most delightful guy to cook for on planet earth), once told me that the man I marry had better not value his trim figure too highly .

I've been to colonial Williamsburg. We went there while on a trip with my high school band. The Revolutionary War was always something I was interested in. I still remember the old houses and the ladies making candles and the gift shop. I wish I had seen a re-enactment. That would be sweet. I actually grew up in Philly and my dad took us to Valley Forge a few times and I played on the actual cannons from the war there (I was just a kid). Never got to see a re-enactment though.
I grew up around French and Indian War battlefields. Went to a pair of reenactments. They are A LOT of fun. There's still time, man! Save up and do a big one like Gettysburg.
I always wanted a sword from the Colonial Era, but my parents thought my intentions were more than decorative...
Do they do anything like that on your coast? I think seeing a real Spanish Mission with period dress would be really cool.

No I don't think they have any re-enactments here since none of the wars touched cali. But there is a local airport near me that has a bunch of WWII fighter planes that actually fly and are on display because part of the airport houses two airplane museums. There's even newer planes like this Blue Angels F-18 on display there...

Oh and about the sword... I saw some colonial swords at Valley Forge that belonged to officers during the war. They are really cool looking. It would be amazing to own one. You'd probably have to look hard because I imagine that they are very rare.
